Yotsuba!

I was wondering what other people thought of this series (a.k.a. Yotsubato!) from teh creator of Azumanga Daioh. I'd seen glimpses of it here and there and recently found out it was due to come out in the U.S.

Has it come out already, btw?

Anyway, it looks like it might be interesting. I was wondering what other people who knew it thought of it.

For those who don't know, it seems to be a slice-of-life manga (like in the style of Azumanga Daioh) about a six-year-old girl named Yotsuba (think a hyperactive Chiyo-chan with green hair) who has little (if any) knowledge of the real world (the preview I saw she didn't even know what swings were or how they worked) and needed a girl to show her.

Looks cute & funny (for me, the ultimate combo).

I just bought v1 and v2 yesterday. It's hilarious and I couldn't stop laughing. It's licensed in the States? Cooliness. I highly recommend people to read it.

I've read fanscans of the first few books. It's a wonderful series. I'm planning to pick up the US release when I get back to the States, too.

I checked a bit and I think the release date for Yotsubato! in the U.S. is some time early June.

I love Kiyohiko Azuma, I think the guy knows how to tell a very interesting yet simple story. His stories have a lot of heart, and the charecters from any thing he does drive the story. I love Yotsuba&, but Azumanga Daioh is one of my top 5 animes/mangas.

His other works are pretty obscure, there's Inma no Ranbu, Try! Try! Try!, and Wallaby. Along with a host of dojins both hentai and not.

Anyway…Yotsubato! is freaking amazing. She's such a weird little girl...

Oddly, I don't like Azumanga at all, but this manga is great.

ＨＥＡＴＸＺ, Azuma Kiyohiko said he has no plan to adapt Yotsuba&! to anime, but that was back in May 2005. Maybe he changed his mind by now…

This series is awesome. Yotsuba is the patron saint of Yotsuba, along with Yotsuba ("Fatty-tan") from Mahou Sensei Negima!

My favorite in this volume was the two-parter about Yotsuba's milk delivery adventure – although the "Fridays" one was amusing too. Watching Yotsuba sit and wait for the inevitable brings back memories of when I had done something wrong, and knew it, and dreaded the consequences.

I'd want for them to wait until the story is finished, anyway. That seemed to work the best for Azumanga Daioh – little to no filler, and a well-organized story.

Granted, I thought that the story would stop with the end of the summer, but Azuma's kept going... and the new "Winter Shogun" image album shows the potential of stories about Yotsuba involving snow. So, who knows.
