Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li

You may or not have heard that a second Live action Street Fighter Movie is in the works. This movie set the focus on Chun Li and her fight for justice against M. Bison. It's in production now so not that many details have been leaked save for cast members and other tid-bits released on the official blog:

I, personally, am looking forward to this movie because from what i can tell it's being done right. The cast looks terrific so far and the people working on the movie seem to know the material they are working with and are taking the right measures to make the movie good and enjoyable to everyone.

Ryu and Ken are not in this movie because they believe that those two characters would steal the spotlight from the star of this movie: Chun-Li.
Good choice, plus that makes for kick ass sequels. So I'm all for it!!

Hmm. Not bad. Gives me a boost in interest. I just have to see who Chun-li is being played by and how they are going to represent her. I don't want to see another Dead or Alive.

On the movie, I never saw the original Street Fighter so I don't know about the film's reputation, but most video game -> movie adaptions, much like anime -> movie adaptions, tend to be very bad. Exactly how cheesy did it end up being?

I don't really know what to think of this, Chun Li is a character known even to me and I've never played SF, but Ken and Ryu are central to the SF story. It's like taking Goku out of Dragonball and focusing on Chi Chi.

Now, CHUN-LI using a staff is the questionable thing.

You're full of shit. The Street Fighter movie looks loads better than DB. The only thing I'm not feeling is Bison's stache and suit.

Bison in the games is like the most campy looking villain ever anyway. At least this one looks far less ridiculous.

The core problem of both of these movies is that they are Street Fighter and Dragonball movies. Neither aren't exactly fitting source material for a movie.

Small update:
saw this on my gamefly envelope
DVD comes out 6.30 and comes with the full animated film SF:Round One Fight

It's not really an animated film. Round One: Fight is just a motion comic. It's a sort of scrolling pan of the first six chapters (volume one) of the Udon SF comic, with small effects and voice acting.

I already got the motion comic, so I can say it is entertaining, but not that spectacular, especially with the subpar voice acting, but not much should be expected from a motion comic. The regular comic is much better.

A full-fledged animated feature that takes major inspiration from the Udon story and uses their artwork would be fantastic, however.
