Chapter 505 "Kuma" Discussion

-
I'm not sure whether Kidd's metalic "arm" is an hommage to Otomo's "Akira" or Tsukamoto's "Tetsuo".
It could be both, though.
-
@Green:

But Tetso is the person infected with Akira in the manga/movie of Akira. So…? Isn't it both and one at the same time?

No, I meant this "Tetsuo".
-
that movie sounds incredibly stupid
-

Actually, the movie is great.
More here.
-
I really don't like the Idea of there being more then one Kuma, I would like to see more Pacifista, but not all of them looking like Kuma, I would like to see some big, small, and short. But not all the same size and not all of them looking just like Kuma.
-
@Green:
No, I meant this "Tetsuo".
Ahh. Strange…........coincidence?
-
Oh and mastered sized "pasifista" like Lucci have that "fighter" size of his zoan. That would be not that cool, i like unique enemys, not army of clones like some other series…
-
That must be Bartholomew Kuma, and as I've said before, only Kuma can teleport/appear out of nowhere and arrive at random places. I doubt his "clones" share his abilities.
-
Rather than clone. Could it be that the "troops" he's brought are two/three Shichibuiki. Kuma has gone to head off the Kidd pirates, Doflamingo has gone after the Heart Pirates and then we'll see a new Shichibuiki or even Kizaru himself go after the Mugiwara?
-
That would seem kind of weird though, at least to me. An Admiral's special troops are actually the Shichibukai? A Shichibukai being on the island in the first place is weird especially during this time but I don't think they would be troops of an Admiral. Of course, if they were then that would be a surprise.
I still wonder about Moria though. Did he stay with the Shichibukai(most likely)? And I wonder how he'll fight now that all of his subordinates are gone, save Absolom and Hogback.
-

I am hoping that these "Troops" Yellow is bringing is some Vice Admirals. I would like Oda to at least use them for something other then a Big Failed Buster call.

Well it's just the way that troops, was in quotation marks. It makes me think that they're not actually troops at all, but rather simply support.
-
i don' think that kizaru's troops are some vice-admirals, i think the soldiers reaction showed, that kizaru's troops aren't some normal marine members
-
I bet their giant crabs and the strawhats hit their weak points for massive damage

I don’t see Doflamingo come into this because he refused to help the human shop. Furthermore I hope the Mugiwara don’t run into Kizaru. Ao Kiji was nice and let them escape. The same is true for Kuma. I think the Mugiwara should meet the strong guys in the new world, after they improved a lot in Fishman Island and fight some Supernovas. They could meet Garp and maybe help the women who carry of by the underling from Sankt Charlos.
-
i don't think flamingo will come either, he didn't want to help the human shop plus he was pretty enthusiastic about fighting WB. I would like to see Drake fighting Kizaru, maybe they have been friends back in the days when drake was a marine or something like that. anyway i think that drake had something to do with at least one admiral in the past, that would explain why he wants to see which one of them is coming
-
Well it's just the way that troops, was in quotation marks. It makes me think that they're not actually troops at all, but rather simply support.
Well what I took from it was that the way the 2 Marines talk about these "Troops" as if they are far more then just simply support. I mean they way that guy look, it was as if these "Troops" were overkill, or could even hurt the group of Marines there.
-

Who says this Kuma teleported there? Maybe he was standing there the entire time? It's entirely possible to sneak up on people without an ability. Or…maybe the teleportation is a mechanical ability and not a fruit ability?
I personally like the clone/pacifista theory since it, 1, allows this conflict to be resolved without damaging their characters. 2--It explains the plot-hole of Kuma being on the island despite the Whitebeard conflict. 3--it explains the that "troops" comment and means that Kizaru is in control of an army of super-powered robots!
Really though, I'd just like to avoid seeing one of these characters lose to the other, since it would mean basically an end of their "career." Of course, this could also be avoided if Kuma doesn't choose to attack Kidd...I guess.

A little late for that.

I would prefer Kid get beaten and make some type of get away. If I had to chose, Kuma just has more to lose if he where beaten by Kid, and Kid is a rookie a loss/get away from a Seven Armed Sea will not hurt his rep IMO.

Hey, y'know what's funny? You know who would be probably one of the few people in the OP universe that could take down Law?
Buggy.
I'm dead serious. Think about it. What's Law's power? He can slice people up from range without killing them within his "room", and then rearrange them and sew them back together at will. Buggy, meanwhile, isn't hurt by the blade, and can split apart and rearrange at will. Law's DF power is moot against Buggy, and Buggy can use his own powers to his advantage, while Law is only able to rearrange Buggy if he's within the Room, and anything he does can just be undone by Buggy as soon as he has control again. Not to mention that I sort of doubt Law's ability to keep track of every piece of Buggy if he does Chop-Chop Festival.
Therefore, I demand that some future chapter give us a matchup of Buggy and Law just to see this odd combination play out.

Not necessarily mate not necessairly…
It would be like saying luffy only has the ability to strech his arms and legs and head and such..but we have seen him tap into various powers of gomu gomu fruit...
Basically imo Law, Kid and ppl whose power we have only briefly seen, have loads of stuff in their arsenal
Plus if Law can controll the objects "within the room" wouldnt that mean he can get a hold of any part of Bugys body parts...From head to his balls then he can just stab it smash it burns it or whatever...
Basically in OP its hard to predict what will happen within fights...

True, true. But Buggy could also fly outside of the Room. Keep certain parts out of harms way, y'know. 'sides, Buggy can learn new tricks too. Like you said, hard to predict. I just wanna see that fight.
-
But that can also be said for Buggy versus any swordman as well.
-
But that can also be said for Buggy versus any swordman as well.
Yeah, but in the case of Law, it seems likely that his swordplay is focused more on being used for his Room powers, rather then actual swordsmanship. With Buggy's powers, Law's DF doesn't do much. Meanwhile, Buggy's fighting style is based around his ChopChop powers, but Law can't trump Buggy's powers as easily as Buggy can trump Law's.
Advantage: Buggy, by a small margin. Also, now I also want to see Buggy VS Hawkeye. I'm sure Hawkeye will find a way to beat Buggy, I mean, he's (to quote random zombe number 134) a freakin' Shichibukai! But I dunno what exactly he'd do. Sheathe the sword and bash him with the scabbard?
-
Calendaaaaar !
-
For the last year I been thinking about Buggy VS Hawkeye as well and think that the strongest character that Buggy has any chance of winning against too.

Yeah.
I still hold the opinion that Buggy will make a comeback someday. Maybe it's the fact that he was the closest in power to Luffy back during his own arc, but I feel that he's still got potential.
(Gear… GAUDY!!!)
-
I agree since he was once a part of Gol D. Rogers crew and at one time was Shanks rival when they were 15 at least.

I agree since he was once a part of Gol D. Rogers crew and at one time was Shanks rival when they were 15 at least.
And I think that he could use his powers in other ways if he took the time to be creative. (case in point, Chop-Chop Buggy. I never saw that one coming.)
-
@Fire Fist:
The only six-fingered Pirate I can think of was Westley from the Princess Bride.
This was three days ago, but i refuse to let it go. Westley, the pirate in question, was the protagonist; the six-fingered man, Count Tyrone Rugen, was the villian that Inigo Montoya swore vengeance against. They're not the same person, and therefore you know of no six-fingered pirates.
As for the Buggy vs. Law bit, i'd like to add to what Blue said: there's hidden powers to these fruits, and i feel that, with enough time or maybe plot twists, Buggy will be able to split himself apart smaller and smaller, perhaps even to the point of splitting down to the molecule. Then there's be millions upon millions of bits to him. He could turn a hand into virtually mist, send it inside someone, and reform it, expanding and busting said organ. Admittedly, this is probably going a little (more like a lot) too far with the idea, but my point is there's definitely hidden potential to Buggy's power.
On that note, i'm now thinking of a spear made of Buggy's limbs, with a hand at the end holding a dagger as the spearhead.
-
No. It's the logical conclusion most fans have come to.
The same fans that said an Admiral wasn't coming to the island….?
BWAHWAHWHAHWHAWA!
-
Logic told us from the start that an Admiral was coming, and logic should tell you now that Luffy is definitely going to fight an Admiral before leaving.
-
And logic should tell you Luffy _______ fighting the Admiral?
Answer the blank: gets beaten, actually wins, gets interrupted…
-
@They:

Ah luffy getting beaten fighting an admiral could be what he needs to develop a new fighting style without gears.
Gear 3 seems not to do as much damage but hopefully him getting beaten by an admiral would be great especially if he decides to use gear 2 less than he would in major fights
I don't want luffy to die young T__T
-
So is Luffy going to get his ass kicked by all three admirals? each spuring him to become stronger, or just Aokiji and Kizaru?
-
I was more or less asking that question because other posters were saying things were so obvious or logic alone would give you the answer.
There are 3 results that could very well happen; although, Luffy losing, and the fight getting interrupted probably have a much higher possibility than Luffy defeating an Admiral.
Luffy losing but actually injuring an Admiral this time would be a great way for Oda to illustrate that Luffy is indeed increasing in power. And as you said, it would also spur Luffy to create another means of power, possibly a higher gear.
-
It seems that Doflamingo will play a big role in the second part of OP, he will probably become one of BB mates in the new world order after WB has been defeated…
-
Why would someone that hate dreams follow a dreamer GoustiFruit?
-
Calendar !
-
Greg what's with the calendar? (Guess I shouldn't ask this)
-
Maybe there was one I missed along the way, but this is the first time I can recall seeing a calendar in the comic. It shows that their concept of months is the same as ours but it would also seem there are either 25 or 26 days in whatever month that calndar represents.
It's just a good source for any argument that might question their concept of months and how it relates to our own in terms of number of days. Also irrefutable evidence of 7 day weeks in case anyone wasn't convinced.
That made me happy.
-
flamingo would never follow BB, flamingo just wants to make money and doesn't care about some romantic dreams like becoming pirate king and BB is just the other way round, he only hunted pirates with a bounty of above 100 million cause he wanted to reach the next step on his way to his goal, the pirate king. he never cared much about the money.

Great Eye Greg. I've been trying to understand your hint about the Calendar this whole time. And I've been thinking maybe there's something important coming up, but then that doesn't make sense. But, there's no debating it now. The Calendar clearly shows that in one column, the numbers increase in increments of 7, the equivalent to our earth days/weeks.
-
I just got an idea, since Shanks was so worried about ace meeting blackbeard, hes crew might help whitebeard to rescue ace, imagine the turnout.
Redhair and Whitebeard against the 7 schishibukai (something like that, or Krigshavs 7 as it spelled swedish), that would be awesome.Edit: <–-- Stupid!

then you should like the obvious fake spoilers that are out that were posted by Neomaster121 on mangahelpers.com
