With this I'm getting more and more convinced that the One Piece is nothing but a huge joke on Rogers part. He just doesn't seem the type to amass a huge fortune and put it all in a treasure chest or leave some ultimate device or whatever. Just like Luffy he did it because he thought it was funny.

well one piece sure as hell isn't gold or any other type of jewel. any money roger had he probably spent during that one year drinking and eating. although i'm very curious what roger did in that one year span where the crew had been disbanded. i'm guessing it had something to do with the ponoglyphs like maybe piecing everything together. maybe robins dad helped him during that time?

Looks like Kizaru might indeed have been the Admiral on the right in the Silhouette picture.
Just think, Shanks an Yonkou called Rayleigh master. Dirty….
-
Thanks to everyone who provided the chapter, particularly so early on the 4th…and with no chapter for at least one week. (the next issue it is in is WSJ's 40th...I hope all the manga are still regularly scheduled)
A nice cooldown chapter with some vital info, but with some interesting turns of events as well (Law joining the Kuma fight, Kizaru arriving on the island). It is interesting to know that Roger was actually dying...but at the same time, with Itachi doing it before and Sensui already done it, I'm starting to worry that's an overused shonen cliche...but somehow it still works.
-
Found out that Rayleigh was in Buggy's past with Shank.

Goes to show Oda has every single thing planned, even if it comes up 7 years later it makes the connection to the story.

You mean robin's mom, Well, IT COULD - since if I remember correctly, robins mom came back to her home town after 'learning' new things about it (Or being captured :X) - and this was roughly 20 years ago as well. Maybe she knew Roger and she was the one who taught him how to read the poneglyphs.

or maybe he really means robins dad? You know it usually takes two parents to get a kid..
-
HAHAHA. For Brook, Gol D. Roger was a rookie.
-
So…nothing on the last page says anything about OP taking a break next week. Isn't there usually something saying "NO OP NEXT WEEK" on the last page?

Amazing chapter.
But did Roger sailed the GL twice. Rayleigh said that the asked Crocus to come with them and that he was only 3 years one of the. So what the heck did they do before Roger had this disease???

My guess is that Roger sailed through the world several times but wanted his last voyage to be literally "all out". If he was going to have a final cruise, it was going to be literally to the end of the world. Heck, if Roger sailed around several times, maybe his trip to Skypiea was prior to the "final journey".
Oh, and interesting note: we finally see Roger's eyes this time around…and of course, they seem very "Luffyesque".

No way!!! What kuma did to that random guy from kid's crew? he was such a nice guy.
And rayleigh mentions sunny pirates, maybe is something related to jimbei or maybe not. -

on the floor in front of kidKuma WHY!?
RIP No Name
-
So Rogers crew was named the Jolley Roger crew? So thats why everyone calls their pirate flags "Jolley rogers" Rather than flags. I never understood that untill now. Thanks for the chap and LOl at brook offputting Gold roger.
Brook: Stops eating "I vaguelly recall a rookie by that name." Continues eating XD Roger ain't shit to brook.
Of and i'm thoring out the wild speculation now. Yorki is someones father/grandfather/ uncle's brother dad. Somehow he's gonna be relavent.
-
Well he kinda beated him on the fourth page. And by the way is that just a smoke effect or there is some kind of meaning to the panels where Law sees Kuma and Kidd in smoke.Kuma looks more fat and shorter and his legs are stretched while on the 4th page everything about him is ok ?
And looks like Bartholomew got upgraded. He doesn't need to charge his lazor anymore. -
Those are cam pic, anyway thanks!
-
awesome chapter.
roger is awesome.jolly roger pirate crew is a pun, because all the pirate flags here in "real world" are called so, am i right?
is kizaru an idiot, with is babbling "oh…" and "oh..."??
crocus on rogers ship?
wait wait, where the fuck was laboon on the 3 years, that crocus was travelling with roger? did he stayed alone at twin capes??? nah come on...and while roger gave up on his own to the marine, why is garp the only one called hero who chased roger?
-
Kidd and law will survive?
Or will be caught by kuma? -
Wow, this chapter was great! Finally we're getting somewhere.
I don't agree with Oda making Roger's eyes visible. There's absolutely nothing special about them, and I personally think Roger looked more like a legend that he is with them shadowed.

Kizaru = Spandine 100% proven cannon
@Spandine:Oh what a shame…

What? There's nothing "Luffyesque" about Roger's eyes. They're more "Moriaesque".

Well it makes sense. He was a ledgend back in chaptyer one, but right here and now Silvers is telling the story and he knew GDR personally. Showing us his eyes is a nice touch imo.
-
awesome chapter….kizaru's entry was le spectac...also, I think the 'Oh' is probably a figure of speech which doesnt necessarily translate well...

Ever heard of something called Confirmation bias? Thats whats happening here, everyone's got this idea of Roger and Luffy being supposed to look alike that they see similiarities when there aren't any
-
Lol, Roger is a rookie to Brooke.
And, imo, Roger's eyes aren't like Luffy's at all. It's his smile that's identical to Luffy's. His forehead reminds me of Zoro. But somehow, the eyes remind me of Dragon…
Also, looking forward to seeing more of Kizaru. Riding cannon balls as they fly is almost as awesome as throwing them harder than a cannon can fire them.
-
Oda is giving us one epic chapter after another. Definately on course for being the most gripping arc yet.
Gold Roger affected by an incureable disease; Oda has made his story very interesting. No shock about Crocus. I think Law and Kidd will escape, but barely. And about Kizaru… the guy's obviously a total powerhouse; the only one who can match up to him is Silvers Rayleigh.
-
Good Doflamingo! thanks for this piece of chapter!
-
first of all nicccce flower at the cover page
than the fight kuma vs. kid and law….
dont see here oda
s attention...
that law or kid will now lose is in my eyes absolutely unlikely...they have such interesting characters and ability s they wont be just fodder to show AGAIN how strong this cyborg is.. but kuma losing now i also don
t see as a good option cause his cyborg ability s seemed too strong ...and now 20 chapters after seeing his ability s he will now lose to the rookies...nahh we don`t even now his DF(s) so far so the rookies will now just show that they can fight with him and in the end they will both leave shabondy arch. without defeating kuma....nothing soooo new about gol.D...kay wasn
t captured (thought so before) but now we have confirmed crocus on the olo jackson... but liked to hear about roger
s personality that he also was some1 who enjoyed everything and saw every situation relaxed..hehe
also liked brook reaction ..calling gol.D a rookie back then, is something only he would do haha:happy:and at least kizaru seems to have a trademark like hina "oh this is kizaru..." and yeah could be a weird character hehe but still face is missing:ninja:

Good Chapter.
After sleeping on it, I decided I'm okay with Roger's Death. He did everything he possibly could, so having his execution to kick off the pirate era is fine by me now.
I kinda figured Crocus was lying somewhat. He looks awesome in his pirate years. Yet another confirmed member of Roger's crew.
I hope by Roger saying he wouldn't die, he really meant that the "Will of the D" or his own personal will would be carried on, not anything too supernatural, like him actually existing still somewhere. He accomplished his dream and gave himself up to begin an era; there's no reason for him to come back.
And Kizaru coming in Baron Munchhausen style is pretty awesome. Let's hope he has a cool character design (and no, I don't think he's Spandine anymore).
-
I tried to draw what Kizaru might look like (with the theory of him being Spandine in mind).
…Yeah I can say I don't think it's him anymore
-
One little interesting stuff I noticed
Look at the last page, you can see Kizaru riding on top of the cannonball, then there's a strange flash of light, and the following panel he's standing on the ground while the cannonball detonates.
The interesting thing is the onomatopeia used in the third panel is "pika" (yeah like in Pikachu), which is apparently used to suggest flickering light.
It'd be funny if these old dumb theories about Kizaru having light based powers were actually validated.
-
All Hail the Jolly Roger Pirates!!!!!!
If Roger was dying while he conquered the Grandline. That means I've been giving Whitebeard too much credit.
Edit:That is unless Eddy was sick way back then.
-
On page 9, Sanji says "Still, even though Gold Roger was executed 22 years ago, how come you his first mate, still have your head attached to your neck…?"
2 things i noticed about this statement was that he is still known as Gold Roger and not Gol D. Roger and that "22 years ago" can be used to mark a timeline as to how long its been since they have started. I don't know how it fits in the timeline just yet but i'm going to look back to see if it was ever mentioned before how long ago roger died.
oh and awesome chapter!!!
-
Thank you for the chapter! Very amazing all the revelations. Only thing new I can add to the conversation is that look near the beginning of the chapter… Kid has both arms covered in metal to make those giant Tetsuo like arms. Very very cool
-
Great chapter with a nice explanation of GR's death, it's just like the World Government to twist events in their favor. As for Kid and Law, I get the feeling Kuma may fall here or perhaps they'll get away just barely.
Oh and Kizaru's entrance was badass, can't wait for the next chapter.
-

The illness didn't necessary weaken Roger in any way, even though it was deadly and apparently painful the symptoms might have left his strength intact.

Not a bad idea, though it could've just been Soru or an advanced version of it.
Still, as long as it's not completely broken, a light DF would be nice to see as long as it's not too similar to Eneru's.
-
nice revelations its always good to wrap up a few things before the end of half the manga
i seriously think silver may fight in order to protect luffy and co
-
Very cool chapter! Kuma is going to take on both crews now, we got a much clearer and detailed account on Roger and now Kizaru has arrived with an awesome entrance. Not to mention he's really tall like Aokiji.
-
Kuma is gonna get them down, then say: "even that Strawhat first mate was not as bad as you"
Then -maybe- they'll find the strengh to fight back and win. And escape.
But I don't think they can beat Kuma because it is almost certain that he will be Zoro opponent in a future meeting. Zoro to Luffy: "let this one to me"
-
Oda's been particularly evil for the One Piece wikia… We've had to do a lot of work for the latest chapter. Lol.

When Luffy was about to get his head chopped off in Loguetown, Smoker mentioned "22 years ago" as well. So if that means anything, it hasn't been a year, which was already kind of evident.

Eh zoro already has his Shichibukai oponent. I dont think he will wnat Kuma too. Kuma pwned the whole of thriller bark, not JUST zoro and zoro wasnt even at 50% when they fought. I dont see Zoro as the type to hold a grudge over losing a match when he wasnt at 100%. Not to mention Zoro was ready to die for luffy. Why would he go rushing back to face Kuma when Kuma had enough honor to leave his captain alive when he could have captured him. If anything Zoro should be thanking Kuma, not trying to kill him. IMO at least.

Bah, how about updating the character flag shots someone put on the char Bio pages. And perhaps throw a link to my deviantart in there.

I doubt Zoro will fight him again.
The most likely scenario I see is that Luffy will find out that Zoro risked his life for him against Kuma and then Luffy will say Kuma is opponent and kick his ass or something. :X
