@Malintex_Terek:
I really hate that Valve implemented training, along with the menu barf they added with that patch.
The problem is there are so many good players out now, the result of three years practice, it is tough to get good by battling them because you'll be constantly killed, and despite what many say getting killed a lot isn't a very good learning experience.
But the training can only help to a point, once the basic aiming techniques are mastered, which truthfully don't require a ton of training, playing the bots over and over won't help players take down good ones.
A fact of the game is, people with better machines or better access to a server are going to have a natural advantage. This is especially true for Snipers, DH Soldiers, and Spies (anyone with precision instruments). The visual lag on the screen is going to impair one's ability to aim properly, so if a player likes those three classes, they're going to be frustrated because a self-hosted training module has no lag at all.
Frustrated players will just delve into more training, embarrassed at getting dominated/owned so many times, instead of looking for other servers or doing other things, which diminishes the multiplayer aspect Tsukento was talking about. Ultimately, they'll leave the game if they think all TF2 has to offer is practice.
For several months, I ended up restricting myself to Rocket Jump practice, but not because I was frustrated. It was wicked fun. Climbing up canyons, careening across pits, or delving into a Japanese-style castle (Jump Pagoda) were extremely awesome rides.
I also spent months on Negro Server, where we just hung out doing completely random things. It was a great way to waste time and earn drops, way back when.
Most of Valve's updates since then have been stupid.
Actually, no
TF2 has lag compensation, so you don't have to worry about that
Basically, what it means is that if you lagged and you shot someone that was lagging, even if he lags 10000 meters ahead, the fact is that you hit him in that precise moment where he was lagging, and so he gets hit as normal with the same hitboxes
Sorry for the doublepost, just wanted to explain this
And the bots are amazingly good, they have really detailed shooting on the Hard mode, in fact, if you manage to dominate the bots in the hard mode, then you're pretty much above average already LOL, those bots are cheaters when it comes to their aiming, they're like moving sentries
BTW, commenting on the Engineer update:
Everything is cool, except the fact that it takes like 8 seconds total to rebuild an entire Level 3 Sentry, which is crap, what is also crap is the fact that not even if you have a Heavy shooting it nonstop as it rebuilds, it will not destroy it
