I like the reasoning of "teamwork", but it seems more like nepotism. Like luffy picking ussop over doffy or croc at pirate dodgeball.
There migth be a rule about revivals, but then everyone except buu has died before.

So the dwarf guy is the God of Destruction of Universe 9 and going by Google Translate is named Sidra. Its Kaioshin is named Row, I think? On his page, it says "The 9th cosmic king God Row", but for the other one, it says "Eleventh cosmic king God Kai", so that might be a weird Google Translate error?
Edit: Actually, could "Sidra" be "Cider"?

Remember the God meeting Whis mentioned in episode 75? It was probably about Mirai Zeno and what happened in the Black Arc.
Man Gowasu looked mad as hell, he was looking at Goku the whole time (along with the U10 Hakaishin), while the rest were paying attention to Daishinkan.

I'm a bit lost on Future Zen not knowing about the tournament. Or is that more of a wonky translation? Future should imply it's the same Zen so he should already know about the tournament. I thought this was just from a different universe.

This is great. The tension and stakes are at an higher level than ever, Goku's on his way to becoming the most hated man in all the universes and Gohan and Buu get a fight. (Hopefully they get one and there won't be excuses, particularly for Gohan since Buu's match already started, and they're actually good ones.)
I love Goku because he gives no damns. It's equal parts endearing and a delibrate character flaw. Again, I really really hope character development comes out of this for him.

There's strategy, and then there's fight happy Saiyans fighting for the sake of fighting. If they were using common sense they would have stopped Gero up ront instead of training to fight him for three years, and the Buu saga would have been ignored entirely.
That aside, with strategy, Ginyu would actually be crazy ideal for a tournament where the literal universe is at stake. You may not be able to pull off the surprise more than once or twice, but he should be able to switch with any opponent and either thus own a new super powerful bod, or at the very least have them just stand there and take punishment.

He exploded in his second form and then regenerated as Perfect Cell and with a Super 2 power up. SO if anything he'd come back even stronger.

But in mere seconds he just said fuck it and instead he went full hype mode again... either he already plans using the SDB to revive everyone or dunno.

I really really liked this episode.
Goku didn't know that Zeno would off universes as punishment, but Beerus had warned him from the start that calling him/getting involved, so the onus is still on him. Hell, I'm expecting the other universe fighters to really hate him as a result, as a "everyone against universe 7" kinda deal. Vegeta/Piccolo/Bulma/ChiChi/etc. will definitely give him an earful when/if the whole story becomes known.
Vegeta was still watching over Bulma, so getting Gohan and Buu makes sense.
Gohan looks stupid with both the gi and glasses on, pick one. I'm just waiting for the episode where 17 gets involved with the gang again.Anything else? I actually paid attention to the lyrics of the ending this week and for such a laid-back song with charming visuals it's actually rather dark. "A demon with the mask of an angel whispers to me to destroy everything now for the sake of justice"? What the hell?!

I really wouldn't blame toei for this one. It's just the way Goku is written, you can't blame them for wanting to keep the status quo.
