I don't really see your gripe with this. Isn't the point of the artbook is for artists to draw dragonball characters in THEIR style. So all of them are gonna look different, and they do. You're saying Kubo's style doesn't match this vague-style that makes them recognizable, yet what about Araki? His is just a jojo character with a super saiyan wig. And again, what about oda? With your logic nobody would know it was yamcha if the wolf wasn't there.

But the one by Toyotarou is amazing. Great concept there, the manga spines being followed by all the new villains that ddn't make itdue to being new. (Of course the actual manga spines don't really include the Buu arc either…)
Would be nice if they could grab artists outside of the Jump stable though. Would love to see Arakawa (Full Metal ALchemist) do something.

With a clear image of Kishimoto's drawing, I have to say it is my favorite. Kishimoto art really shines in those stand alone images (his JoJo tribute with Giorno was also amazing). I remember Oda excessively complimenting Kishimoto drawing abilities, guess the guy has a point.

Sorachi was probably dissapointed that Oda beat him to the punch to draw Yamcha. And then was the cool yamcha that only existed for volumes 1 and 2.

LOVE Kubo's, and Kishimoto's is pretty awesome and original too. They may not be able to keep my attention with their stories but boy can they art.
Toriyama's little comic page is great, his personality never changes. Also feel somewhat validated in ignoring super after the first few episodes if he's complaining about it too.
I like Kishimoto's best, I think. Reminds me of how awesome Konoha looked early on.

I really love Kubo's Tao Pai Pai.
I've said a lot regarding Kubo and his art over the years, and cannot (surprise) subscribe to the consensus of "at least his art is good". He recycles character designs too often, things can look wonky as hell when in motion, fights and attacks are mostly lazily choreographed and sloppily drawn, and he has an overreliance on the same, often excessively minimalistic, artistic tropes.
But if theres one thing he puts all his love into, its Poses.
Tao Pai Pai is doing a pose, and has got some artistic pizzaz thrown on it. It looks a damn lot more appealing than Kubos regular work, and sells the menace of a no-nonsense hired killer (Gokus first ever truly challenging antagonist!), even if he doesn't have a canon snake motif. I like it!

Another pretty great episode of Super! I'm a little disappointed at how different the Anime/Manga adaptations are. I thought they'd be more closely entwined, but it doesn't take too much of a shine off the whole experience.

Well they didn't even ask for a replacement, and I don't know how Gohan is even going to get to that place alone.
I actually think he is going to stay out of this tournament and is 'secretly' training (which is kind of foreshadowed by the anime). He will probably have a bigger part in the next arc.

Anyway, cute Bulma/Vegeta interactions and, just like Goku, I was surprised that Bulma had a sister.
