Shichibukai. The marines won't touch you, you're a powerful mamma-jamma, and the Shichibukais eems to encompass some of the coolest characters in the series. Crocodile especially.

I'll keep it realistic here instead of going with the typical ''Most powerful in the world!!'' answer, and say I'd love to be a smalltime pirate. No captain or first mate or anything big, just a rowdy, sailing pirate. There's just something about the romantic image of a pirate filled with adventures and best of all, freedom as it is in One Piece that always filled my heart with glee.
There's no way in hell I'd like to be a big name pirate or a Shichibukai. Politics and fame, brrr. Imagine walking into a town to have a cup of coffee and buy the newspaper and have EVERYONE screaming ''It's that Shichibukai!! RUN!'' or ''It's that pirate!! Shoot him, Marines!!'' everytime you attempt to seat your bottom at a wonderfully placed pub by the harbor. Or something.
Being a Marine means following orders. Brrr.
Nah, I'd take the life of a care-free, rowdy and pillaging member of a pirate crew any day.

I'd like to be a pirate. Marine is also kind of appealing to me, but I'd probably be stuck as one of those dorks in the baseball caps.

Definitely a pirate like Shanks who loves his life and loves experiencing the world. That´s definitely what I would want to do if I would have the chance to live in this world.

I'm not too sure I'd qualify as a marine (I figure there muast be some requirements) so I guess I'd be a pirate. Unless I ate a Devil's Fruit, in which case I suppose I just might opt for Marine, assuming I was strong enough with my ability, because although there are some pretty awesome pirates out there in the OP world, others really seem to deserve their bad reputation. Not to mention that I might be able to beat some of the evil marines.
I wanna be gooooood. I'll vote Marine.

While the Marine uniforms do look kind of stupid, I'd still be one. I wouldn't have to worry about having a bounty on my head. But, the downside would be the risk of getting killed by pirates. And, if I come across one with Devil's fruit powers, a rifle just wouldn't be enough.

I can see myself as "pirate support"– the navigator, the bloke who manages the supplies or money, the cannon cleaner, the swordsmith-- more than a actual pirate. I'd expect a large crew would keep many of these on staff.

Pirate. To leave everything behind and pursue wonderful dreams, experience incredible things and see amazing places. Plus, maybe I might have a hot navigator/archeologist or stuff…
