i just got into this manga and some of the pics made me pause for a moment and think "ive seen that somewhere before…"

im not trying to knock the book, i think its really good. hell, if i was a mangaka i try to emulate oda as much as possible.

tell me what you think about those pics! there was another one that looked really similar to the sillhouettes of the shikibukai but i cant seem to find it.

I agreee that the second one looks like woop slap. and that guy kinda resembles sanji. (although it's the wrong eye and no curly eyebrow)

but the lafiette kuro and smoker is too big of a stretch for me personally.

Personally, I've seen tons of the "hair over one eye and smoking a cig"-esque characters in anime and manga. I dunno if Sanji came first or not.

Sanji's only been around…well, not that long. o 3o But anyway, I think that means Sanji only has one curly eyebrow. The mystery is solved. lolwut

I see some similarities (especialy the Sanji guy), but it's nothing to get fussy over.

Well considering the fact that One Piece is one of the most popular series ever, it's not unlikely for people to copy Oda's style/characters. For example, Fairy Tale is very similar in drawing style. Then too sometimes artists will slip in characters from other series as a cameo gag. One such example is when Yami Yugi showed up popping out of Bobobo's afro of a chapter cover page.

However, with the examples you provided, I fail to see any corrolation between them and One Piece other than the one who lightly resembles Sanji. Other than that, nothing. I don't see it

im really not tryin to whine or be fussy. like i said, i think its a cool book. i just wanted to show the pics to other OP readers.

i guess using the word stolen in all caps in the thread title might be going too far.

can i change it to "ares influenced by op?"
