Guys they need a cabin boy (or girl) who will be charged with doing all the little stuff. And I say it should be Long Arm Tribesman(or woman,but that would look wierd:wassat:)
Or the next nakama should be a hand 2 hand fighter. Other than underperforming Chopper and Overperforming Luffy they have no hand to hand fighters. Maybe it'll be a former marine (Coby?) who'll know Rokushiki.

It could have been a metaphor, just like how White beard told Shanks how he's 100 years too early to stand up to him.
Yeah, Rayleigh's experience actuallys make him a better pirate than Luffy, which I bet was what Shakky meant, but I bet Luffy could fight in pair in terms of speed/strength with any of the legends if he relies heavily on his gears.

luffy got the monkey shit stomped outta him against Aokiji could barely beat Moria and I doubt he would have been able to hold up against Kuma. The Monster trio needs a way to get stronger because they will not be able to hold up in the new world especially not against a yonkou. Hell IDK if luffy could be any of thier 1st mate

Imo its purely lets balance things wishes and not discriminate the venera gender that draw us to a closure that quite some ppl wish and expect to see a female joining the SH"s.
I personally think two are enough for a pirate based manga.

I like where you were going. I always thought they would get a tactician type of person for naval battles. Now with their new Gaon Cannon positioning the ship in a good spot will be key. Up to now the SH's haven't had an intense ship vs ship battle, it has mostly been them running from the Marines.

A Tactician huh? maybe it will be a elderly person (Male or Female would be acceptable). Someone who could make the SH crew a powerful force against fleets of Marines or even battling a Yonkou (i assume they would have many ships under their control). Cause being only on one ship would be a disadvantage. having a fleet just isn't Luffy's style.
A battle Tactician combined with Nami's navigational skills, Usopp's gunning, and the sheer power of Franky's ultimate creation, The Thousand Sunny would be unstoppable in a naval encounter.
Plus you have the rest of the fighters who are perfect for defense of the ship and boarding nearby ships for offense

tactician eh? definitely not a bad idea. I once had in mind that they might need a politician. Dunno why. Just reread OP sometime ago and I thought someone with political powers like the Gorousei might be useful
and I was also hoping that the SH will get a former marine as one of their crew. that would be cool too -
i think scientist would be better… like wat vegapunk does, this scientist can make powerful weapon for sunny, research about the devil fruit which can help especially chopper on the rumble bal and many more if SH has scientist in their crew...

Gunslinger? umm… usopp is the main sniper of the ship. no he doesn't use pistols or whatever you are getting at.... but that's just usopp. I think he could if he wanted to, but he chooses not to. Said "gunslinger" would have to have more of a defined ability than shooting guns. Cause shooting is already taken.

well if the SH's ship had 100 cannons how would you fire them. Have usopp run along htem all and aim and shoot each one. No you would have Usopp man the most important, or devastating with good aiming. While Robin would be able to fire all 100 at once.
Man that would be sweet, too bad they don't have a ship like that. I wonder why Franky didn't think of that. You have a 1 person army of cannon shooters.

No more crewmembers for a while and maybe for good. Pretty much anyone that Luffy has mentioned he wants in the crew (cook, musician, shipwright) have all already joined and this spur of new characters has started to make the series kinda character heavy. I expect that we'll start to see some character resolution and elimination (not crew, but background) in the coming arks rather than addition. I think that also that is the idea behind the coming "war" as Oda has a huge amount of secondary characters that he needs to resolve in some way.

I doubt that another devil - fruit user is going to be the next Nakama. Regarding the "it must be tuned to a position" thing…. A mastermind for strategies doesn't sound too bad. However when it comes to fighting style I would expect someone with hand to hand combat skills to join.
Somehow I am getting a feeling though that a outcast / rogue marine might join in the New World.Edit: Though as stated above I doubt strongly that there will be any new character soon

Hell she already fills the role (at least partly). Remember in alabasta? She came up with the idea of how to get Vivi to the top of the clock tower.
Usopp proved worthy of the title in his battle with Luffy.
The reason the Strawhats won't have a position called the tactician is because they all know instinctively what to do to in a situation after anyone of them comes up with a plan and initialize it.

My guesses about needed positions are that they're two simple ones that become more necessary in the New World:
Helmsman:
They've been doing fine up until now, but you have to imagine tougher seas in the New World. With that, a helmsman would become necessary. I could imagine it happening along the lines of having the crew enter the new world and barely making it to the next island, thus wanting to search for a professional helmsman.
Fisherman:
This seems unnecessary, as usually Luffy, Usopp and Chopper do the fishing, but with the tougher seas come tougher fish, so a professional fisherman might become crucial.

A messenger doesn't seem all too likely. It just doesn't fit a main protagonist to be absent half of the time. Maybe they could get an animal or something for that, though I wouldn't count that as an actual crew member.

I doubt anyone at this point will join. If anyone, it would be hatchi, because he has the most development out of all of the candidates.
But remember, Oda counts ships as a part of the crew also. Remember when he announced a crew member would die? That turned out to be Going Merry. So, I think that we have everyone at this point, at least it would seem so, having all of the crew members conveniently right before the New World.
Then again, I could be wrong. We'll just have to wait to find out.

Agrees, it's alot to give the whole crew parts and make them special, I really wanted another crewmate after Franky, but I wanted to wait till the New World, now the arcs are gonna be wayyyyyyyyy longer IMO!
Also, face it guys, lol, there are no more useful positions left that the other SH's don't already do, Oda may make something important in the One Piece world like for Robin and the translating and stuff, like another important thing like someone to sense Aura and crap, but other than Oda creating something in the One Piece world that might require another crewmate, there's no need for another one, plus Luffy said he wanted at least 10, and we have about 10 or more years to go, I don't think we're gonna get another crew mate for a longggggggggggggggggg time!

I think they will get 2 more members, since Brook is the 8th one to join proves that the ships and Vivi doesnt counts as crewmembers, and as everyone knows Luffy wants 10 crewmembers. However I can imagine it will be hard to give everyone of the members enough screen time and development and its feels like it just at it limit right now. Though I think Oda should be able to pull it of nicely.
I for one would like the crew to be completed when they are going in to the new world, just so that nobody joins too late and I think it will still be 10volumes + before they go to the New world and it would be something new to get 2 members at once as long as it doesnt feel too rushed.
As for the new crewmembers… I think it will be one woman and one man, and this time let the woman be "different". Back at Water 7 i always wanted a Flying fishwoman to join and to act as some sort of scout since she can both fly and swim and for fightning why not some kind of special fishman martial arts along with fishman gadgets.
And for the other one someone who fought with devilpowered items would be nice, almost like a beastmaster or a pokemontrainer with one or several items that has zoan powers.
OR another suggestion could be a logia user to join, however the power shouldnt be that strong, maybe like the weakest of the logias... A tree/plant logia would be something.
ABut the positions I think Oda will make up some that is important in the One piece world, like the archaeologist is.
