The next new Nakama? Part 2

Discrimination against fishmen/mermen does NOT give Camie a sad past. She's relatively young and, judging by her attitude above land, it didn't seem like too great a concern for her. Papagg was the one who was concerned about Camie. Besides, discrimination started way before Camie's time. It's not her flashback to have. Also, if you were to use that as a flashback, then ANY fishman or merman is a possible nakama.

Also, helping her out with their treasure doesn't mean anything, either. They took time off from their adventure to help Vivi since she was their friend. They did the same for Conis and, well, anyone who he became friends with or had respect for. Coby, Mayor Boodle, Broggy/Dorry, etc… They help people they meet at their own risk/loss ALL THE TIME.

As for swimming fast, the same can be said for any merman/maid. I think it's much more valuable for them to have a nakama that could actually walk and hold their own in battle than one who can swim fast.

From Oda's view I think he'll pace himself with the crew and have the next nakama join after an arc or two since Brook and Franky recently joined. It would give them time to develope with the rest of the SHs and when thats all done, a new one will be introduced.

Right now, I'm starting to see Franky go under the radar because of Brook.

I completely agree. Oda needs some time to get the others more involved. Besides, Luffy really hasn't expressed a need to fill a crew position as of late. Remember how long he went on about a musician? That fact made Brooke a shoe-in from the get go. And I honestly cannot think of a role or job that needs to be filled on the Sunny. Although the Straw Hats are not exclusive to only people with special skills (Vivi had a golden ticket for simply being a Nakama).

And I don't think Brooke is taking any of Franky's screen time. This latest chapter had him interacting quite a bit. I personally think that Chopper is getting pushed back a bit.. just a bit though. It's tough having 9 main characters.

Especially in the New World. I don't think Hatchan would be in his right mind if he let her go to such a dangerous sea. Earlier in the story would have been more appropriate for her to join.. would have given her time to become stronger

I agree, Brooke is stealing other SH's time, usually Ussop, Nami and Chopper are the mains for the beginning of the arcs, but Ussop just appears every now and then, and I don't like it because he's one of my favorite characters, plus Chopper and Nami too. I agree, haven't 9 mains is hard, that's why I wish Oda would have held off with getting another namaka for a while, but I'm sure they will get their time very soon!

Also, Camie could be the cabin girl, cabin boy/girl usually help out on the ship, ex. clean, mop, etc! Not saying I want her to join, just throwing it out there!

I love Brooke. It sucks that everyones panel time has to be divided up more now.. but I like the added element to the Jokes now! (Skull Jokes that is). Brooke is deep. but he's mostly there to add to the fun, which is really appreciated during these serious plots. In all, it just takes longer to get through the arcs since Oda usually likes to separate the crew. Plus with the 9 other supernovae…. boy will this could be a long one!

Cabin girl!! lol! I think it's implied that each Straw Hat helps out somewhat with those jobs. well.. maybe with the exception of Zoro and Robin (lazy!). I think Luffy isn't above cleaning his own ship. But IF Camie had a title, It would definately be Diver (which has it's uses), but like I said before. Bringing her to the new world would endanger her faaaar to much.

And don't say "Camie can fish out the Devil Fruit users", NO because they are just fine without the help of a mermaid. All the non Devil Fruit users can fish them out like they've been doing for a long time now.

There is a very low chance she will join since she says Hachin's name more
than once and not specifically Luffy's. Unless we get a past of her constantly running away from those who hunt mer-folk and/or Hachin asks the SHs to take her…but like I said before...they take her they mine aswell take Hachin and the starfish.

Camie could be a diver I guess and get sunken treasure. I think she'd bee too much of a distraction for Sanji though. Technically if she were there he'd never get any work done.

I don't think they need more fighters, they don't need a guide, but I like to think Ace might join them after the whole rescue thing is done (assuming he lives and WB dies).

that dancing girl seems pretty interesting, maybe trafalgar bought her, dunno, and in the future, she could fight the straw hats but because she's order to, and when they set her free, she'll join them,

I don't think anyone else will join the crew before Merman Island. There hasn't been anyone introduced so far who has the stuff to become a SH and I don't think there'll be in the immediate future. There's a lot happening right now, but I don't think Shabaody Island will take very long. Perhaps as long as Thriller Bark, but then they'll be gone.

How could they not need more fighters? The emperors seem to have tons of high quality fighters not to mention there are only 3 really strong guys in SH.

Well, when things clear up, the crew needs someone who is:

-female
-super strong/ has great fighting skills

That's what I think anyway. They don't have to be sexy or anything…just awesome. And they have to follow the guidelines of being a Straw Hat: depressing past, skill, fight boss kind of layout for the arc (I think... ), and a great personality~

I'm curious, was it ever stated that Franky / Brooke was weaker than Sanji? I mean I know a lot of people make speculation regarding Brooke's strength due to his defeat vs. Ryuuma, but I do not see any connection or measurement of power for either of the two. And on top of that, Franky seems to have a lot of potential in terms of getting a lot 'stronger' with upgrades / weapons.

Not that it matters. But, in regards to the whole "monster trio" nonsense, I was just curious.

There's also the worlds view of mer-people. I could see luffy dragging her into town and slamming anyone that treats her differently.

I'm pretty sure that Coby will never join as a cabin boy, but later in the series he will fight Luffy in an epic fight and maybe by then he also ate a devil fruit.

I don't know Coby seems to be a character that will get stronger through training than through the cheapo way of the Devil Fruit. Him having powers would kind of ruin his character. Excuse the Naruto reference, but it would be like if Rock Lee suddenly learned ninjustu and genjutsu. He should remain kickass without it!!

Yeah i agree with Mrs.RoronoaZoro, the crew needs another female and a really strong Fishman (i would like to see a great white shark fishman), this would complete the crew and they'll be ready for the new world.

Well, it depends on the fruit. Luffy ate a df, but he's still awesomely strong and badass. As long as coby doesn't rely on his fruit like enel or moria it'll be okay.

Eh. I still can't see Coby with one. It would seem like a cop out to me. Even if he didn't abuse his fruit I would still see it as an easy way out and after seeing Coby rise through the marines without one him getting a fruit would diminish his character in my eyes. Unless hes like Kaku and masters it in a insanely short amount of time.
