On Friday May 30th at 6:00 PM, Australian Cartoon Network will be airing the One Piece movie.
Thanks to Ceestar for finding this information (is it okay that I'm linking to the image BTW?). It is NOT known if it will be uncut or using the 4Kids names or not, but there it is. I'm actually very curious as to whether or not it will be uncut since it'd be the first time the dub would be allowed to use words like "ass" and "damn". Also curious about Zoro and what not.

If FUNi did any edits for the movie at all, it was voice edits… ...as for blood, cigarettes, etc, that would be CNs sensoring, or possibly a different company, not FUNi. Not everything Mike says is true... ...that rumor about slipping in a cigarette... an entirely different department handles video editing and I know they didnt touch the movie. It was merely an accident that made his rumor appear true.

No, it would make no sense to pay millions of dollars to remove blood and cigarettes on a show that may or may not ever air on US TV again. Besides, Im sure the plan is that if they air 1-143 on TV again, they would use FUNi audio (which may be edited for TV), and 4kids video… ...meaning hello lollipop.

You ARE aware that that would be completely impossible, right? FUNi would dub all the episodes completely, only cutting out the stuff they CAN'T show, whereas 4Kids cut out FORTY EPISODES of content, although several of the things they cut was completely child-friendly. (Buggy's mini-arc, anyone?)

Maybe, but in the commentary, they were talking about how it was a relief that they only had to record one set of names for the DVD, unlike what happened for the broadcast, implying that they only made one set on lines for the first episodes unless they were flat-out lying.

Nah, they probably figured that the old episodes are too old to ever be put on TV again, so it wasn't worth doing. Even Jetstream will hopefully not need to restart One Piece for a very long time…

You forget that the people at FUNi have mad skillz and they could make it work. They have ways. Worse case scenario is that they would have to record a separate voice track, which they might do anyway if they have to keep broadcast names and eliminate curse words.

Well thats how it works in FUNiland. Infact TOEI has to approve everything that gets edited… ...not sure if that was the case for 4kids being that I cant imagine their work ever getting approval. But before this "hiatus" I remember hearing that was the plan. FUNi wouldnt edit the video, which means that for broadcast TOEI would have to provide them with it. And Im assuming thats where theyre getting it.
But that all would never happen unless they were to rerun previous episodes, and by doing so, re-air all. If for some unknown reason they were to reair random stuff, Im sure CN would just use whatever copy they already had, which of course would be full 4kids.

Ugh, do we have to spell it out? 4Kids's edits were far worse than just cutting out a scene or two, or completely removing episodes. They rearranged several scenes and merged episodes together, like how they included both the end of Whisky Peak and the start of the Drum-arc in the same episode, even though there was an entire arc inbetween that they just ignored entirely. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR FUNI TO DO A PROPER DUB WITH THE 4KIDS-VIDEO-TRACK, AND EVEN IF IT WASN'T, THEY STILL WOULDN'T DO IT. END OF DISCUSSION. Not to mention the Laboon-arc, where they threw the original plot out of the window, and made it look like the only thing blocking them was an iceberg, which Luffy then proceeded to blow up. Now, as last week's episode showed, the Laboon-arc is absolutely vital to the story later on, so that's another reason why what you suggested will NEVER happen. Ever.
UmmYeahOk, how incredibly dense are you to believe that FUNimation would actually do something so stupid as to use 4Kids footage for some sort of edited TV dub? If anything FUNimation is more likely to just ask for the episodes to air uncut.

The idea of FUNi using the 4Kids video footage is just asinine. That would cause even more work for them because then they'd have to make more audio edits and change the story due to all the edits to the story that 4Kids made.

Toei's done some crazy things, but that would seem odd even for them. Why would they want FUNi to use the footage that helped cause One Piece to get horrible ratings to start with?
Why use Loftra for the Shandians? Why Gravity Blue Riders? Why tell Funi to put Zolo in the credits of the uncut Alabasta DVD?

Simple, as you see, I signed up in Feburary. I only started getting interested in One Piece when FUNI took over in September. Thats why you all know more about the show than I do. So far I have only seen what FUNi has done, which is why I know FUNi didnt edit the video in the movie because I would have seen it myself(some other company might edit it though).
Ive been on ToonZone since 2003 because I like cartoons, and didnt know about this forum until the famous cigarette slip up. I started monitering this forum because unlike ToonZone you all nit pick EVERYTHING. And I wanted to know if I was doing a good/bad job. This is very hard because if I do a good job, fans may not notice or say anything. But all and all I guess its better than 4kids, so I guess thats a positive.
Okay I guess what I mean is why are you here risking your job? And why do you trust just anyone? All I have to do is post your name here and you get fired right? Why risk it?
