Almost like somebody answered my prayers for an "original, interesting anime" this glorious monstrosity sneaks by my scouter, going unnoticed until just about two hours ago.
I took a chance on a show hyped like Bartender (which I subsequently enjoyed for the notepad) that looked utterly awful, and it turned out to be quite interesting. If one of the most surreal anime ever created. One needs a mature mind and a developed sense of taste to appreciate this, it's gosh darn weird, astract and insane, but I'm rather intereted in seeing how it goes. As of the third episode, there still doesn't seem to be any real objective. It's just a bunch of out of control spongy mayhem.
Think Earthworm Jim with an even more other-worldly environment and none of slapstick humour.
Suffice to say, it's hard to qualify this show. The best I can do is describe the setting - memories from living beings can be stored as data and transferred from body to body, effectively allowing some a form of immortality. Only for the rich some, though. We begin with Kaiba, code-named "Warp", who awakens in a melted crag on this building with no memories of who he is or what he is - he's suddenly the object of interest for body hunters who sell flesh to the aging rich. The rest of the story involves his odyssey through this insane world.
It's 1:36 A.M. as of this posting, and after three episodes of Kaiba I must say my brain has been royally fudged right in the mind-anus.
