A bit redundant and off topic, but Funimation just posted this on their site:
The staff at FUNimation Entertainment had the pleasure of meeting Jay Dunn, a 15-year-old anime fan from Bastrop, Texas as part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation
of America program.
As part of her wish, the Texas Film Commission gave her the V.I.P. treatment at Ikkicon, the anime convention in Austin -AND an official invitation to visit the FUNimation Entertainment headquarters.
Jay loves to draw, and her talents as an artist demonstrate promise in fulfilling her hopes of becoming an anime animator. Check out some of her work here. To support and encourage her talents, the Texas Film Commission bestowed her with animation classes at an Austin-area school, and provided her with art supplies to create her own studio at home. They also presented her with huge baskets of FUNimation product on our behalf.
At FUNimation, Jay and her family received the grand tour of our new building and studios as we explained how an anime series comes from Japan to your DVD collection at home. She met the crew and observed them as they diligently worked on One Piece as well as a series of titles we have yet to announce (and which Jay and her family have been sworn to secrecy). She also got to meet Colleen Clinkenbeard during a Luffy voice-over session.
It was a great day and an honor to have Jay and her family. We look forward to seeing Jay again!
I find it strange that in articles with MAWF, you usually find out the horrible disease the kid is stricken with, but nothing here. Still, lucky kid, when I saw the headline, "Meet a Funimation VIP", I thought they were having a contest/sweepstakes :sad:
