This is gonna blow.
Nothing like the original Spirit. Will Eisner would be spinning in his grave.
It is pretty different (visual-wise, yes, feel-wise, not completely), but sometimes certain thing need an upgrade.
You know, you just might change your mind after seeing it. I have this distinct feeling Millar is going to surprise us with this movie.
Hmm I might pick up the series and if I like it I might watch the movie.
I like the style with things like the tie, but it just looks like Sin City.
The Spirit does have a similar film norish style to Sin City. That's the major resemblence, Buuhan.
It's Frank Miller btw. not Mark Millar. Then it would actually have a shot at being good.
Frank Miller is just insane now.
And Sin City and The Spirit are nothing alike in style. He should have just stuck to making Sin City 2.
Thanks for changing the title for me.
No problem chief.
It's true that they both follow a film noir formula. The problem here being Frank Miller's Spirit is going to just be another Sin City clones. While it works for Sin City, I have serious doubts that it will work for something as colorful as The Spirit.
If he's just gonna make it into a Sin City clone, why not just go ahead and do Sin City 2 already?
I just wish Frank Miller would get over this rut he's in, he's done so much amazing stuff in the past and now he's just churning out the suckage.
Yeah the Spirit is a noir character, but he's so much more fun and colorful and NOT Sin City. The current on-going from DC captures the character quite well, I'd highly reccomend it though I stopped buying it after issue 12 because Darwyn Cooke left the book. (Though Sergio Aragones is now on it and he's damn good, so I'd think the quality should still be there)
Wait, Sergio Aragones on The Spirit? I have all respect for Mr. Aragones, but that is the silliest thing I've ever read.
Samuel L. Jackson is The Octopus.
who cares
it's not the same without Eisner
@AWB:
Samuel L. Jackson is The Octopus.
Oh goddammit. I will pardon him for Nick Fury, but why must he be in every single fucking movie now???
I just wish Frank Miller would get over this rut he's in, he's done so much amazing stuff in the past and now he's just churning out the suckage.
Like.. 300 and Sin City?

No, those would be things he did in the past that were good and were then made into good movies. Not to mention, he didn't direct either movie adaptation, even as "co-director" of Sin City he didn't do much more than say yes to what Rodirguez was doing.
