Figured we needed a thread for megaman. I've been obsessed with this little blue guy since I was 8 years old. (about 20 yrs ago)

I recently bought the MMX collection for GC (even though I own them on the original platforms) Capcom is known for great play control, but these games were not designed for the game cube. Trying to play them with a GC controller last night was just pitiful. I could not control MM fluidly. That and the music on chill penguins stage kept skipping. why? why? It's updated technology. it should be better.

Honestly, the biggest reasons I'm a gamer nowadays are Mario, Mega Man, Simon Belmont, and Ryu Hayabusa. Those four had the games that I just couldn't put down when all I had was the NES.

Mega Man is ****ing fantastic, and don't you forget it. Napalm Man has the best music, Pharaoh Man has the best weapon, and Quick Man wins the coolness award. Mega Man X1 and X4 are my favorite games in the series, but the one Mega Man game that everyone seems to overlook is Mega Man V for the Game Boy. Fantastic GB game, that.

This thread reminds me of the fact that I still need to finish all the megaman games I've downloaded but knowing myself I won't ever get around to doing any of that especially with the fact that I been holed up all weekend playing GTA IV.

You know, I'm probably only one of only like, eight people who equally like both the original robot stuff, and the Internet universe. I got into Megaman through Battle Network, and later branched off into Zero and ZX.

Hell, I even play Star Force (Empty, the blue guy in my avatar, is from SF2 and the Tribe season of the anime). It's not quite as good as the better Battle Network games, but I find the concepts and designs to be pretty creative.

Did you know that the Megaman series was recently inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records for having the greatest number of games? There are forty-six titles, more than double that if you count multiple versions. The X Series crowd would probably be pissed because instead of an illustration of the classic Megaman or X, there's a giant one of Geo Stelar in his Megaman form.

I've been playing Megaman since #4 on the NES. That's probably my favorite of them. And playing the Aniversary Collection gave me the chance to play the ones I missed out on.

The Megaman X series was great, too. X4 used to be my favorite out of that series. It was mostly because of the anime cutscenes. (I was 11 back then. So, that was the first time I'd seen that done in a video game) If I played it again now, I probably wouldn't like it as much. The SNES games will always be the best out of them.

I have MegaMan X Collection on the GameCube, and personally, I didn't see anything wrong with the controls. The music does skip, though, I'll say that.

Unfortunately for me, I've only played some of the games in the original series, and some of the games in the X series. I haven't really checked out any of the other spin-offs (except for the unbearably hard Network Transmission on the GameCube). I wouldn't mind checking out some of the others. I kinda actually wanted to play Zero, ZX and Battle Network.

Megaman is my favorite game. X4 in my opinion is the best. I started out in X4 and 8. I got excited when I cousin had Megaman X for the SNES and played it, When I first heard of Megaman AC, I was shitting in my pants. I was like, SWEEET!! bescause for the first time I get to play Megaman 1-7.

Megaman 8 and Megaman X4 were the best ones for me.
I still remember Megaman's, "It's over Wily!" Line in 8. Good times, good times.

Are they gonna make any more branches off the Megaman X series or another series that play like it? Not Megaman Zero. It's been awhile since I heard of any new good Megaman games.

I was never a fan of the voice acting in any of the games.
Playing X4 pretty much solidified that.

I love the EXE games, particularly EXE 4. I wasn't old enough to play the old, Classic games and the X series is just gay. Zero's alright, haven't bothered with anything else. One I get some cash, I'll probably try them out, though.

Huge megaman fan ever since someone left an Nintendo Power with a MM3 article at the doctors office. Heck the Megaman anniversary collection is the main reason I haven't dumped my PS2.

I never finished a exe, legends, or zero game, but I don't mind them I just like classic and X better.

Favorite master is Knight man. Weapon is Axl's Spiral Magnum in X8. It was to slow to be useful unless you were taking advantage of it ability to shoot thru walls, but between the bullet trails and the spent cartage it looked awesome.

I read somewhere that during the 25th anniversary it was mentioned that they are think about a megaman wii game. Anyone here anything more?

You do not deserve to be a RockMan/MegaMan fan if you haven't played X8 yet. That has to be one of the best games in the X series (hell Axl rocks in this game).
I personally dislike the .exe and Star Force/Ryuusei series, but I will give credit to .exe 1, since it's my fav. of that series and is easy for anyone to get into and learn.
For the record, both MegaMan Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X for the PSP are great games for various reasons.
Right now I am trying to beat RockMan 3 & 4 for the NES. Anyone know where to find a GIF of ToadMan's dance?

It's heavier than the OP Logs, but it's about the same size. Shipping was almost 30$ though >_<;

I had to get it because of the limited quantity it was printed in, so I probably paid more than I should have.

X8 had some wonderful moments, and the whole team element, with three sets of character weapons and dual attacks, was simply awesome. My only beefs were the shitty driving stages, namely the man o' war chase and the ice speeder stage. Both of those sucked. Mega Man should be about Mega Man, not a huge synthesis of gameplay styles. If they want to put that kind of thing in, do it in smaller quantities, Capcom. Please. But yes, X8 is very, very good.

The only megaman games I like are the 3D Legends series. I remember loving the first game as a kid, wish I had that game…

Also, the Gameboy series had a groundbreaking soundtrack. I still catch myself humming the track from the credits (you know, the screen were every single enemy from the game was named) from Mega Man I.

God, the Gameboy MM2 had such great tunes…! So glad a bunch of 'em were arranged by kickass Japanese musicians (check the Megaman Network)! Hell, the classic MM series had such an amazing soundtrack for the 8-Bit era!

Why does everyone like the second game so much even though it is EXTREMELY broken (I like it…but not the best)?

The two biggest offenders to me are:

-Metal Man's weapon. Strongest, most overpowered weapon in ALL the games. In fact, you can use it against him and kill him in like 3 hits.

-The one Wily boss where you have to use Clash/Crashman's bombs to blow up the walls and the energy things. You have to time it PERFECTLY to not run out of your weapon. What were they thinking?

If they ever made another remake (which they won't, unfortunately), I would want them to address these issues first because the others pale in comparison.

The five Mega Man games for the Game Boy are great, but V is the best one. IV was solid, and the Ballad Cracker was a pretty neat weapon, but it's not as good as the NES games or V.

I like Mega Man 2 best because it has the best bosses, the best stages and stage music, and is the really the one that inspired the build for the rest of the games in the series. Each subsequent Mega Man added to the formula, but really 2 is the one that did the most for the entire franchise. And yes, some of the weapons are broke, but I don't that against it. It was way before every single Mega Man had to be "perfectly tuned" with bosses and weakpoints. I'd like to see some more modern changes done to a remake, but it's not essential, either.

And by the way, Metal Man is an automatic 1HKO with his own weapon.

There were so many balancing issues that "ruined" what could have been a perfect game. It doesn't matter to me, because I like them all…HOWEVER...I see everyone hating on all games after 3 and that's what bothers me. Most everyone puts the second game on some kind of pedestal as if it were the holy grail of Rock/Megaman. I remember all of the complaints about the announcement of RR/MMPU because it "wasn't based off of the best game".

Anyways, this brings me to my next point.

Why does everyone like X3...at all? The loading issues ALONE killed the game for me. Zero was a pretty pointless addition (oops, he died. You can't have him back. He can only be used on 1/3 of the stage as well). The bosses were dumb, the ride armors didn't really have any good uses, and the "ultimate" armor was...lame.

These may be opinions, however, but how can anyone like X3 more than the first two? Most people claim its the best in the series, but I think it's just because it's the most rare in the series.

X4 Sigma battle…only hard one is AFTER the Reaper battle, his final form is easier with X, but a bit difficult with Zero.
One thing I liked about Zero in X4 is that you use all his moves to help you by but with X, you can just stick to the Buster and fire your way to the end of the level and then switch to your weapons :/

The challenge he gives I don't mind (much) it's the fact that the boss battle is split into three parts and losing on any part starts the battle from the first part which I do mind.

X Jumps and shoot electric web from middle of area
Mushroom jumps to the opposite wall's high location
X Jumps and shoot electric web from middle of area
Lathe rinse repeat XD

BTW for those that don't know….the Mavericks have voice overs in the JP version.

Nope they don't, only in the JP version.
Whenever you get to a boss they will say something before battling you.
I think C. Kujacker/Peacock has an intro where he says something I believe translates to 'Please die quickly' or something like that.
