Well, we've actually had somewhat big discussions on the Death Note LA movies in the other Death Note topics a while back.
So I'm sure that there are still some interested in it.
Meh, I didn't go see movie 8 so definitely wont be seeing these. Nor will I be buying them, if they come on TV, okay. Otherwise, oh well.

It's not like our own God will drop dead or anything.
Because Christians believe that God is so omnipotent that a being like him who's supposed to give life & death can't die himself.
Is it subtitled, dubbed, or otherwise made accessible to the English-speaking crowd?
I could see seeing Death Note, just for the novelty of the shinigami in 3D space, but also so I don't have to fake it when others discuss the series.

This sounds like a great way to catch some kind of insidious airborne disease.
They should do this for one piece movie 6 (cause that movie rocks)

Nah, I hear it's subtitled. There was a trailer using the dub voices but it was simply that, a trailer. For the Death Note movies anyways, the Bleach one probably will be/is dubbed.

I wouldn't think it's dubbed. Dubbed live-action films are very rare these days, especially in the theaters.
Well they aren't rare at all. They just usually air subbed in the theaters.
But if you get them on DVD, they pretty much always have a dub if you go to the option selection.
Just note those dubs are generally P.O.S.
Blame that on the folks who can't get used to hearing people speaking in their native tounge complimented with english subtitles.
Eh? I love dubs, I enjoy them far more than foreign with subtitles. Just usually the ones for live action movies… You think they grab these people off the street with their acting skills. But not all live action dubs are bad, I've seen more good ones than bad ones. But they all have their awkwardness, unlike animation which has the same lip flaps and such just repeated, real people have several lip flaps and you gotta admit it's awkward when you hear one thing but see another.
That however can't really be helped, so it's all good if the voice actors actually do just that. There's a difference between voice acting and voice overing.

Hmmm, really? I suppose this is probably the best for those watching DVDs that have a strong stigma against subtitles so they can watch non-English films with out the supposed "hassle" of reading or enduring the percieved horrors of hearing a non-English speaking actor. As long a the original language versions are available both in the theaters and on the DVDs, it's good.
I think its funny how the dub of the Death Note movie is using the same English VA from the anime. I might have to pick this one up for the lulz that usually comes with dubbed live-action. Its not like the Japanese track is being scrapped anyway.
I actually just noticed the other day that a theater where I work was playing this. Having nothing to do, I went and saw it tonight.
I'm not a fan of dubs on live action, but it wasn't too bad. Surprisingly, the only voice that didn't quite fit was Light's which is odd because I don't mind it for the anime. My main gripe was that they didn't subtitle anything written in Japanese. I mean come on. Didn't anybody screen this and go, "Hmmmm, maybe Americans will have a tough time reading all the Japanese". The only time any writing was subtitled was when Light reads the Death Note rules, of course those were Japanese subtitles for the English written Death Note…
Ryuuk was a little weird, clearly the Japanese production companies don't have the same CGI budget as those in Hollywood, but the look grew on me as the movie went on. He was pretty funny too, the VA did a good job.
L of course was frickin excellent. That actor really nailed the character. I was cracking up the whole time.
I was pretty impressed with how closely they stuck to the story. The only big change was how Light dealt with Naomi, but it made sense since it ended up being the climax of the movie. All in all it was pretty good, though I would have preferred seeing it subbed.
Does anybody know if there is going to be a sequel? It sure seemed paced right for a good trilogy.
