Premise looks interesting so there is some hope for it, my biggest gripe is that Rachel S. isn't reprising her role as Eve (tho I hope the new Eve actress lives up to her performance). Dunno if the director of the first Fast and Furious and xXx is comforting me much, but I'll judge it after watching it.
Now if you scroll down you'll read something about 3 more movies which I find is rather …well milking-ish.
The Scorpion King prequel...I'll wait for reviews before watching it. ...but know that the Blue Time Force Ranger is playing young uh...Scorpion King.

I am really looking forward for the next Mummy movie. I found the first a very cool movie, it was funny and violent and simply entertaining (plus Ardeth Bay is one of the coolest support characters in a movie ever). Somehow Brendan Fraser managed to become a secret favorite of mine. I love the scene where the Mummy screams unhuman at him and Rachel Weisz, Fraser yells back like a little girl and blows the Mummy's chest of her legs with a pumpgun.

The second movie, unfortunately, was one of the most disappointing movies I have ever seen, with typical "sequel clichés", and when I saw The Scorpion King in TV a few months back, I was eased I didn't pay money for the shit in cinema.

But as I said, I am really looking forward for the next movie. The ancient China is a very interesting setting and the terra cotta army amazes me anyway. It COULD work …

I personally found the 2nd movie as entertaining as the first, nothing beats that scene where the little undead pygmies are running with that dynamite stick olympics-style; that was one of the most hilarious scenes I've ever watched in a movie.

Yeah, read about this a few months ago on Wiki. I was actually quite surprised by it, I didn't know the movies did this well. I do enjoy the first one. Forgot most of the second, which is probably for the best. Scorpion King? I saw it recently and I think my mind shut it out cause I can't remember it.

I dont know why, how or when but I got a bad impression of the actor that plays the main character…
Every movie he is in feels cheap and lowbudget because of him for some reason. He's a big joke to me.
I can't stand looking at him or his acting.

Gotta say, I've never had a time where I said to myself, "Man, I am sick of Brendan Fraiser". I mean, I admit he usually plays the same roles, but he's too much fun.

It doesn't seem the awesome guy from part 1 and 2 (don't remember his name, guy with face tattoos, played Carlos in Reisdent Evil movie series) is going to be in it. That sucks. My sister has the biggest crush on that guy.

Well the guy had to deal with an evil Egyptian sorcerer, doubt they knew there was an ancient evil emperor long ago sealed in China, even if they're people are scattered across Asia. :P

Oded play Aderth Bay also played Carlos in the 2nd Resident Evil movie.

anyone know why Rachel Weisz didnt return ? Tho i watched Assault on precinct 13 last night and that Maria Bello chick was pretty good so she might make a good Evelyn. Tho i would have prefered that they just wrote her out of the story somehow.

And the notion that the man behind XXX is gonna head this production also frightens me, Seriously was that the best they could do.

Maybe that's why. Still feels (to me) like he is acting in a comedy while he is trying to pull off an action role, and everything around him has an action movie atmosphere. It's like watching a parody that didn't have enough money to get funny screen writers.

I don't know, I just don't like him in action movies.

The Mummy films actually involve a slight bit of comedy.

Both The Mummy and The Mummy Returns are on my favorites list as A ranked big-budget, pure entertainment action/adventure films. They're the Indiana Jones movies of the 1990's and 2000's, minus the Spielberg and Lucas silly kiddie moments. Really excellent movies both, great music atmosphere and a rush to watch.

The late 19th, early 20th century is my favourite era in history, I love movies that have something to do with those times.

However, I am sad that some of the original actors will not be reprising their roles. That's a pity, so long as The Mummy continues to use fresh stories I think I'll continue to watch. Sort of like how Jackie Chan Adventures up until the whole "Shendu's son" arc continued to be good, even with basically the same format each series.

While I loved the original mummy movies, I am apprehensive. This does kind of scream "milk the cash cow."

On the other hand I am glad to see they're expanding their horizons a bit and acknowledging that yes, there are Chinese mummies. And I love the clay soldiers of the 1st Emperor (coolest tomb EVER in history. sorry, Egypt) Add that to my 1/2 Chinese heritage, I may just feel obligated to see this.

I enjoyed the first two Mummy movies, but I won't be seeing any of the new movies mentioned here. It's being directed by the same guy who did xXx, one of my least favorite movies of all time, and because I have no interest in seeing a prequel to that boring-as-fuck Scorpion King movie.

It was boring because, well, it was. A better description, you ask? Uh, it didn't do anything very well. The action was stale, lines were drull, characters bland, story so-so. I know it's an action film so I shouldn't expect much, but like I said, the action was stale. Really bad. I remembering seeing it on the day before my birthday, and I was ready to fall asleep throughout the entire movie. Ever since then, I've always done heavy research on a movie before seeing it with a hard watch on the reviews. Since then, I've never gone to see a movie I disliked.

And xXx is the posterchild for the generic-take-every-clichque-out-of-the-book movie.

I didn't feel any animosity toward xXx, sure it was a trashy spy flick, but Vin Diesel was the main attraction and that's what the movie delivered. I also liked his portrayal in Pitch Black, Dark Fury and The Chronicles of Riddick (though I liked the last the least, though it had potential).

As for The Scorpion King, it was the weakest film in The Mummy line of films since it lacked all the quirks that makes a Stephen Sommer film entertaining (he didn't direct it).

I felt Van Helsing was a good movie on par with the original Mummy film, Sommers should really do an Indiana Jones-like adventure in the future involving some sort of jungle. That, plus a space odyssey would make his action-adventure repertoire complete.

And I loved Chronicles of Riddick. It was like a Live Action "Galaxy" arcade game.

Brendan Frasier is in another movie where he and several other characters are going through a 3-D adventure with dinosaurs and volcanoes. Favorite thing about this, the movie is being called the "next step in action flicks". 3-d has existed forever. Meh.

It's not like I'm NOT going to watch any of these movies.

I was surprised to see how that got completely past my radar, since I normally have my ears pricked for news of classic adaptions like that. Have they done, like, ANY promotion for it? First I saw it was at apple trailers when I was looking for something else.

Agreed, especally when it's the five Chinese Elements. Just hope they use all five (I have a feeling they'll probably use fire all the time and maybe touch on the others).

I'm interested. I'm glad they're using a different Mummy this time around but I'm not sure if I'll rush out to see it.

But rather than sound like a well-seasoned movie die-hard who's seen the good, the bad, the ugly and the gosh darn hideous, you give the impression of a swimmer who won't dive in six feet deep water unless you know there are no pool sharks swimming around to bite you.

I've got a large number of anime series under my belt and very specific taste, but I'm still going to "take a chance" on shows that plausibly look interesting, especially if there's no info on it other source material to base it on.
