Wait. What did you think was a special pencil?

I am guessing he meant like a special pencil tool in the program.
-
I dont know I am new to Photoshop and it looks like a big program so I thought that it maybe had some kinda of shade technology ^^ xD
Well, I don't use photoshop. xD But you have to shade yourself. Example: to shade a shirt you get a color (red, for example), and color the shirt red. Then make the red you chose slightly lighter and paint over the red to lighten some places, or darker, and paint over the red to darken some places. Does that make sense?

GIMP has a dodge (Highlights and brightens) tool, it works pretty good for shading easily.
-
Glad to help, then~

Looking at the ice, this was done using the dodge tool in Gimp.

- Don't ever try to rely on digital tools. Do everything yourself.

I agree Alina, it is best to do it yourself, and quite a few don't recommend using the dodge tool. BUT, I don't know how much time he wants to put into an image, and he said he was a noob.

Winston, if you have questions about Photoshop feel free to ask me. I've been using it for some years, so I can probably help.

How do you do background layering with photoshop?
-
If anyone wanna use a clean lineart with ZoroVsHodi, I got one right here that I made.

How do you do background layering with photoshop?
You can make a background out of an existing layer.
For example, you have layer 1, which has a blue circle on it (if the other parts are transparent, they will become white when you change the layer into a background)Let me explain with pictures:
!
! Here you have Layer 1 with the circle. Other parts are transparent and there's no background. If there are more layers make sure you have selected the one you want to convert into a background.
!
! Go to Layer->New->Background from layer
(here, you can also make groups which help when there are tons of layers you're working with.)
!
! There, we now have a background. The transparent area became white because (as far as I know) the background can't be transparent.
That lock icon next to the "Background" text means you can't change the opacity and type of this layer, but you can change the colours, draw on it etc.
! A note:
! When you open photoshop, you automatically get a white background. You can do whatever you want with it, you can convert it to a layer or delete it. (Layer->New->Layer from background)I hope that's what you wanted to know, I fear I misunderstood something. If so, I'm sorry.
-
!
Edit: saw a mistake on Zoros Robe that I fixed, and yes, I made it.
-
Sonic, did you color that? If you did, that is great!
The shading is really smooth, and the ocean's color looks amazing! -
The ocean really looks pretty great.
And the rest is awesome too. -

I didn't realize it earlier, but Hodi has a sash just like Zoro and Luffy. Is it some kind of fashion statement?

Thanks man. This coloring is really gorgeous. The water effects and the colors are amazing.

In the old days of piracy, you could tie a bunch of pistols into it.
-
All of the Zoro vs. Hodi pictures on this page are absolutely fantastic.
Good job to all
-
Whoa, now, those are some kickass colourings, huh? Specially Hinkgs first Hodi vs Zoro and the one by ioshik. And I second what Rene said about Hodi's colours.

Just a quick thing;
I've noticed that a lot of you have uploaded your manga scans and colorings to DeviantART. Just to let you know, manga colorings and the like are not allowed on DA unless you have explicit permission from the original artist, even if you do credit them. It's because when you upload something to deviantart, you are technically copyrighting it.I think it's a bit of a silly policy myself, but be aware of it in case they get removed because they are technically against the rules.

[/hide]Wow, you did a really good work there, king haki!
That looks totally awesome and thats how I'd imagine the anime now.
The only mistake I found is Zoro's swords.
He used the sandai kitetsu to slice up Hodi and the kitetsu is more red.
The Shuusui is black and white and the wado ichi monchi is just white.
But everything else totally rocks! Keep up the good work!
Sorry for putting up that mistake, but I just want to give you a useful and constructive review/feedback.
I saw you also did the line art? In the most cases artists can f*ck up some spreads (remember a spreadshot from Shanks' crew at the war), but you did that a lot better. It must be one hell of a work to draw each line in a panel exactly the same way like in the original. When I coloured pics in the past, I just used the provided scans and coloured them.
EDIT:
That ioshik-dude also did a hell of a job! Man, that blurred background with the highlighted bubbles and Hodi look totally authentic and awesum!!! I'm just amazed! -

Not exactly.
You're not allowed to upload coloured manga scans.
If you re-linearted the picture - you're allowed to do it.
