Although, sabertooths, we also have the likes of Sanji, Franky, and Nami who lack any visible weapons but handle this area of the GL just fine without a devil fruit.
While I agree that Capone and Kid are likely devil fruit users, I'd expect Bonney to be a straight up brawler, especially if her tremendous appetite actually is evidence of her being a D.
Also, don't forget that Apoo is lacking any visible weapons as well and I could certainly imagine him using a sound based paramecia of some sort.
None of those three have any weapons on them. Even Urouge with his monstrous strength carries a huge arse weapon around with him. Which leads me to believe that it's generally deemed impossible to survive on the grandline without a weapon an i'm counting Devil Fruits as weapons.
Also note that while Kidd carries daggers, he makes an odd shape with his right hand and that's just after the explosion that Apoo somersaulted from.
You should open your eyes… As a reborn reader you should have spotted the weapon Capone uses.

@ boiga: Appo seems to be a martial artist to me. Hence why i left him out. As soon as i saw him, i thought, he's gonna lose to Sanji fairly quickly.
As for Sanji. I believe that if he was leading a crew in the Grandline. He would've been defeated already. Don't get me wrong, i do believe he could step in for Luffy occasionally but not on a consistent basis. And not for a second do i believe Nami, Usopp or Franky could survive without the rest of the crew on hand.

I imagine Apoo's fighting style being affected by something silly like he activating a sound dial with a specific song. Each song could have some sort of different effect on him and what not. If you watched Kung Pow then you can get a better idea of the sillyness I'm talking about.
Bonney? I'll also be silly and say that she has the Devil fruit Ability of Gas. She has to eat a lot for her farts and burps to be a force to be reckoned.
Killer? Average Fighter like Zoro and Sanji.
Hawkins? Optical Illusions? Who knows, maybe some sort of sword style that involves reflecting light.
Law? FROG ZOAN.
Uruouge? Maybe there's more to his Iron Beam that meets the eye. I say his crew's fighting style revolves around the dials like Usopp's Kabuto and Nami's Clima-Tact do.

Not sure, when I saw his evil sharp looking eyes, it kind of look like a shark. Perhaps he can be like those Fishmen/Mermen, when he's on land, he breaths with his lungs.

Kid looks like he could have a a claw fruit, or something that helps him slash people. At least his hand gesture suggests something in that direction, though that would make him a little to similiar to Kuro in my opinion. Also his design seems to indicate a very murderous speed based fighting style.

I think the translators just assumed that the guests were talking about Capone, since that was his page, but that both Capone and the other guests were really talking about Bonney.
Capone doesn't look like he draws that much attention, atleast not compared to her, and he eats alot softer while she gobbles it all down as fast as she can.

However, in this chapter with the supernovas, he doesn't seem to be holding it back.
Because of this reason, I have the feeling (also known as wishful thinking) that many of these new characters will play fairly important roles.

Man, Bonney's my favorite from the get-go I think, hope she doesn't just fizzle out and loses without showing anything, like Roshio The Executioner did, not that I cared anyway about him.
I'm against Apoo havn't eaten a Devil Fruit, same for Bonney and Capone. I actually hope most of them havn't eaten Devil Fruits, like Kid.
Bonney doesn't seem to me like she'd have a devil fruit. If she did, with her nickname "Big Eater" that brings to mind Baku Baku no Mi, what Wapol ate. And about her being thin, that brings to mind Sube Sube which Alvida ate. Capone, I'd like to see him do something, but I can't actually picture it. I can't see him being extremely fast, or extremely strong. I can see him as more of a guy like Krieg but more refined. Weapons, Numbers, and strategies.
Apoo seems confident in his abilities, Martial Artist, probably a good Tactician, can see him and Sanji going at it.
Law seems like he's gonna end up being pretty big soon/later on, just from the impression he gives off, and being one of the last introduced, how he spoke to Drake, just the feeling I get from him. Drake seems like he'll be doing something important eventually, he seems more mature, being a Ex-Navy and stopping Killer and Urouge from going at it.

Dragon may also be modeled after Sir Francis Drake. In Spain, Drake was known as "El Dragon", and had a massive, massive bounty.
Also, Scratchman Apoo may be named after Cui Apu, a famous Chinese Pirate who at one point had a fleet of 500 ships. The British Navy took him down in 1851.
I think the straw hats are gonna fight the other pirates because there are nine of the super novas and nine SH members, here are my match ups
Luffy vs Eustass Kid (two biggest bounties)
Zoro vs killer (works for kid )
Brook vs Scratchmen Apoo (he has a music theme)
Chopper vs Trafalgar Law (both doctors)
Nami vs Jewelry Bonney (nami often faces pretty girls)
zoro might face X. Drake because he's a swordsman
Member of Beelzebub is Freakin' Awesome Group
what I'm catching up on currently: Gintama, lone wolf & cub, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and lost in poem (by our very own AP member GEPPETTOSMONSTER)
if the captains doesn't even want to fight each other why would they bother with people with bounties in the 50 belli to 50 million belli range?
and why would all of them team up against the strawhats?
(and you know they each got crews along with them right? well… killer doesn't as he's part of a crew)
While they don't have any reason to fight right now, that's not really something I see lasting that long. Kidd wanted to get into over being looked at by Apoo and Urouge and Killer seemed to be going at until Drake stepped in. These are obviously not people who like being around others as strong as they are and it could erupt into a fight at the slightest provocation.
As for them fighting the Straw Hats, that ones a little harder, but it is something I personally see happening despite the lack of solid evidence.
The one thing I like about this arc is that it shows that the crew has threats coming from different sides. It's also the first time since Whiskey Peak that we've seen them fight against bounty hunters. Plus, there's the potential threat of facing another Admiral.
Why would the top members in 8 different crews each fight a different member of the strawhats? And what would their crews be up to while this goes down?
I just cant wrap my head around why people (well newbies) seem to think that the strawhats fighting theese 8 captains is a good idea and that it would be likely for all of them to survive something like that.

No it doesn't. It goes with the idea that normally, the introduction of new strong characters that exist in ways opposite to the protagonist tends to end in fights in this type of media. Personally, I don't see why it is such an immense crime to have some interest in seeing it.
The entire point is that at the moment it is not an impossibility for it to happen. That's what these threads are here for, discussion of the chapter and the possibilities inherent in them.
The more that this arc unfolds, it seems more closely related to that of the Jaya arc before Skypeia. The only difference of course is that we are going underwater instead of into the air.
Once again, Luffy is in the presence of incredibly storng "rookies" who will inevitably try to take him on in a battle. (like Bellamy before)
Once again, The mugiwara ship is undergoing a transformation of sorts to go to the next island.(i.e. Chicken Merry)
I am in no way shape or form criticizing this arc, as I loved every moment of the Jaya/Skypeia arcs. In fact these similarities actually make the arc filled with anticipation for another incredibly ingenious arc from Oda in Merman Island.
As of right now, I hope we'll see another incredible OHKO out of luffy to another asshole like Bellamy (i.e. KID). It may seem a little underwhelming, but even though I only know so much about this guy, Kid seems like he clearly deserves it.
Another idea for a matchup - Zoro/Law seems like a great combo. They both share several features, and Zoro, if they only meet up may run into a potential rival on the archipelago. Either this guy or Killer would be a great matchup for Zoro.

Looked at the scan from One Piece HQ and I noticed there is a bear that is probably on Law's crew. The bear has Law's symbol and is right behind Law.
So is that a real bear or somebody in a mask? Or since Law is a surgeon, a creation done by Law?

Personally I find it annoying since it drowns any sensible discussion about what could happen. Like the gauntlet or heist theories or what the others have done for their bounties etc etc.

I still don't get why people are making matchups so soon regarding the supernovas? If the SH get rid of their competition now, then there probably will be diminished tension in the New World as they are the only ones to keep going to prove themselves. I still say let the world and the circumstances handle them…heck, a few may still become crucial allies later on. (at least Bonney gives me that vibe...)

I agree. Strong as the SH have become, most of them have no chance of winning. Don't forget as well that all of them except Killer is a captain. Some of the supernova will probably be taken out by the marines. One other possibility is one of them being taken as a crewmate of a much stronger pirate.
I think the SH likely opponent would be the Kidd pirates. Just like the SH, they have two members with 100M+ bounties. Their reputation for civilian casualties also make them perfect foes for the SH.
Although 100X stronger is really something, OP has more or less shown that strength is not always the measure for fighting ability. Also, the SH defeating Moria was not yet reported (although Shakkie probably knows about it already).
