i for one don't think that this is going to be a strawhat matchup. they might deal with one or two of the captains soon but i agree with whomever it was that said its more of a gauntlet situation. whatever happens, it's going to be badass.
trafalgar law=gin? somehow i don't see it. something about him doesn't remind me of gin. trafalgar law is my favorite of the supernovas. anyone else want to name their favorite?

So, any guesses to who Kira really is? It's kind of odd his mask is shaped like a dial, but I doubt it's anyone from Skypeia. And my favorite of the Supernova 11 is Kid. He's probably a master swordsman, it looks like.
And I agree that there's not gonna be a 9 vs. 9 this arc. Instead, I'm thinking of the 11 doing a heist. That would be amazing. Classic, old style heist. Good times.
I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

WOW, thanks BF, but the spoiler really spoiled the WHOLE thing this time, was expecting a little bit more, anyway, sooooooooo, does anyone think that the SH's will fight these guys, NAH, probably meet them, every pirate crew doesn't have to be an enemy, if you look closely, you can see some of the other captains just fighting for the hell of it, and their cool with each other, sooooo, my guess is that somebody is gonna hit a noble, and a Admiral will come, and we will have to flee to Fishman Island (not actually flee, but you know, get the hell outta there)

I imagine each of the big pirate captains shown here represent different aspects of piracey. And in the end, the one who will surpass the rookies will be the one who gets piracey the most correct.
On another note, if these guys are the survivors, that means there really is a lot of pirates who didn't make it far into the grand line. For every one of these there must be at least ten dead crews who didn't make it.

Those who think the Sh's won't fight these Supernovas are silly, all of these rookies will go at it, and I am guessing the Ship coater dude is a fishman and he is 100 times stronger than the SH crew, we haven't even reached Jinbei yet.

no matter how high the bounties are for these guys, or how dangerous they may be, their crews could be fairly generic; heck, we don't even know how big their crews are!
with the SH crew, you'd be in trouble no matter who you picked a fight with. -
Uh I really don't care about the bounties, I just want to see the Supernovas and the Sh's go at it and plus if that happens and Admiral has to come!!

Don't call other valid opinions "silly" unless you want to be treated with equal disrespect. In regards to Reilly, the ship coater, Hacchi refers to both him and Shaky as "good humans" so there's no chance of his being a fishman.
-One other item of note. These guys are all labeled "Rookies" which was the same title handed to Bellamy. Did everyone think that Bellamy was going to achieve the same notoriety as these guys? Did everyone over estimate Bellamy or are we assuming these guys are more powerful than could really be the case?

If the pirate is worthy to continue in the story, let the seas and the world determine that instead of some pointless rumble who's only purpose is to increase a bunch of bounties. While I don't mind interaction or maybe a scuffle at this point, having the SH eliminating the competition before the New World would be boring.

Man a very informative chapter this week. I really like all of the designs of the pirate captains. I wonder if Tragiformia(sp?) Law use to be member of Kuma's crew (if Kuma use to have a crew) because I notice that he has animal prints on his hat and shirt just like Kuma does. Plus he has what looks like cogs on the sleeve of his shirt which can be associated with cyborgs.

I think i can see some of the match-ups coming.
Luffy will fight Kid, partially because he has the highest bounty and partially because:
Zoro will fight Killer, as Killer is Kid's fighting man, and it'd work as a captain/fighter two-on-two match.
Sanji will "fight" Bonney by cooking for her until she's full.
Chopper will fight Law simply because he's some kind of a doctor.
Brook might fight Urouge, with the monk attempting to purify the undead.
Nami might fight Basil, in a clash of elements (although that's really more of a hold-over from my attempting to fit Nami into Ragnarok Online's class system).And the rest i don't have a clue on. Also: Captain Kid lulz.

You'll notice that a lot of English scanslators also have a watermark of some sort even despite the fact that their scanslations aren't used as often as Chinese scanslations were for others work (or lack of work, merey pasting translations onto already cleaned scans and so on.)

There's actually a popular ninja weapon called Tekagi-Shuko that were ninja claws/arm-blades. They came in many varieties. Plus, some tribes in Africa use long arm blades to fight each other.
From his dress, he kinda looks like Nero. But I don't wanna start a huge Duval-esque scenario again, so let's just say Kira's someone new for now.

And yeah, but the question is, what would they all hit? The WG? Mariejoie? The biggest bank in Shabondy Isles? Oda has so much potential with this.

When I read about them being called "Rookies", it reminded me of Rockstar. If I recall correctly he was also called "Rookie". So I thinking, maybe on the first island in New World there will be representatives of all emperors asking to join their side. Some may accept invitation and later be weaker opponents in fights with emperors. Others (like Strawhats) may go their own way. Also some of them may be used to show strength of new characters (like: admiral, Reilly, Jinbei).

To go along with this whole 9 vs 9 thing, since I'm bored, though it's not gonna happen..
Luffy vs Kid - The only matchup that I think will happen. I think Mr. Reily won't coat Kid's boat, and he will coat Luffy's, and this will get Kid pissed. Luffy then handles Kid like how he handled Bellamy.
Franky vs Urogue - Hopefully he brought the pillar chucks with him.
Brooke vs Apoo - MUSICIANS DO BATTLE

Well, you've got a point that there's probably not going to be the typical "shatter their dreams and leave them a broken, empty husk of a person" that usually happens, but i still think there's gonna be a match up and maybe some kind of a fight on the island. It'd certainly lead to a longer rivalry.
Hell, this might even be a point where Zoro'll get a bounty raise from fighting and jump back up to being more than half of Luffy's bounty; i find anything less than that to be a little disappointing, but that's because i'm a Zoro fan.

The only person out of the Strawhats who really has a reason to fight are Luffy and Zoro. Zoro because if their is a strong swordsman he will want to defeat him, and if the swordsman are anythig like Zoro. They would also want to fight him.
And Luffy is going to try to be the Pirate King so any others that are tryign for that could start a confrontation as well. The rest would just be fighting to help Luffy against numbers or Zoro. Unless some story type thing happens that they all want to fight for.

I'm thinking that these pirates and the SHs are going to have some kind of conflict, and not necessarily fighting. I'm getting to thinking Usopp and Urogue might trade dials?
I think this because, Urogue has the lowest bounty there. Yeah, I know "bounties don't equal strength," but he's still in last place as far as we know. Add this to the fact that Uroque's still a big scary looking dude and you have great potential for conflict.

There are more islands then skypiea. IIRC there was a path in the white sea similar to those down on the blue sea.

Well I do think there will be a fight of some kind too. But I doubt these guys are the typically "fight of the arc" people for each crewmember. If I had to guess I'd say there will be some skirmishes on this island and then the main event will be at Fishman Island. During the arc some of these Rookies will probably be defeated but some will also make it to the New World I'd say. Since these rookies are suppose to serve as a contrast or comparision with Luffy, it would be silly to have them be defeated so quickly by the Strawhats

There aren't any scanlations out yet. However we do have the Raw and a translation by blendy (both in the OP). So people are just putting it together mentally for now
