seeing the latest chapter it just amazes me how unique and creative Oda is when making these islands. that bubble place is really something
What is the most creative thing in One Piece
-
-
Duval man, freakin' Duval!
Durh.
-
I can't choose at all.
The entire concept of this series is so creative to the bone.
I enjoy the varieties of Usopp's fighting techniques, and how he manages to use his skill in sniping to be an effective fighter despite his lack of typical shounen strength. His inventions are great, too…
Too much creativity...
-
The insane amount of detail and depth Oda gives his universe.
-
Skypiea.
white and white white sea. upper yard. cloudfish that cant fly but can still swim in the seas. dials.
oh and logposes. cant make sense of them the magnetic field is screwed so compasses just twirl but somehow logposes adapt to the magnetic field and show a path.
-
Luffy. His fighting style is just insane.
-
The ability to give people thoughts on making threads like this.
-
I love the way oda comes up with the strawhat crew's fighting style (including attacks and weapons)!
…I mean other than the plot lines !! -
Snail Phones, Devil Fruits, & Santoryu.
These are a few of my faaaaaaavorite thiiiiiiings.
-
brook and franky for ty
-
How he calls 'em Blues instead of Oceans or Seas. In a world with only one real continent, it's hard to apply a name that does justice to the breadth of such expanses of water. And yet, the Grand Line is a sea sandwiched between two other seas. Or are they oceans? Bah, no matter.
Oh, and Cover stories. I've Never seen any other manga do that before.
-
Devil fruit…...
-
Agreed on cover stories. Definitely a concept that more people should adopt.
-
Everything about Franky is just creative genius.
-
i would say it's luffy  u cant find this type of captain anywhere else
-
Hmmm if I had to choose I would say the character setup and combination. They play out very well together and we don't have too many characters so each one get's his spotlight and has a well written out background.
-
The fact that the manga is nearly 500 chapters strong, and he still has original and innovative ideas
-
@sestersparrow:

no, the fact that it gets better and better :D
and also IMO - DF, characters, SKY ISLAND… generally WHOLE MANGA :) -
the most unique thing about one piece is just the incredible combination of soooo many things, we've all seen before but not in this way.
For example the "ghost island" THRILLE BARK.
With all the cliches (e.g. Zombies, Bats etc. everything one would connect with horror movies) but still soo unique (The "Shadow" ability, Oz being a robot, the fact that it is all just a ship etc. etc.).Another one is the combination of cheesyness/cliche and anti-cliche.
Cliche is for exampel that they all win when fighting for their dreams and putting their heart to it and that kind of stuff. Anti-cliche is for example Kogoro as a "mermaid" while she is kinda ugly. Or that Luffy is picking his nose while spandam tries to scare him.Or the kind of "magic" in one piece which is totally overnatural, but still has a certain logic to it. Unlike e.g. in Dragonball, charmed or basically any other story which has "magic" in it. It is still bound by several rules. E.g. every devil fruit user can't swim. And luffy will never shot a fireball or something. All the moves can be explained by "one piece physics".
The other and last reason for this summation is the way this world seems sooo real. It really conveys the feeling that it can exist. Because it's full of peope which seem real, which are not always friendly, not always the same way. There is a certain balance which makes it real.
I really love this series so damn much ^^'
Oh yea and the Rokushiki and Sky Pia and the differnt animals and alot of other stuff ^^'

That's one of my reasons for loving the series.
But as for me, I'd have to say the characters.
-
I would have to say One Piece all together, Zoro and the 3 sword style, the Clima-tact, Luffy for crying out loud, the whole Devil Fruit thing, EVERYTHING, each island and the people there has a uniqueness to them that other mangas can't compare with!
P.S. Don't take the last part out of content, I didn't mean no manga could compare with One Piece, I just mean the characters and islands are so unique, that other mangas can't compare with them, not saying that other mangas can't compare with One Piece!
-
Oda.
16 Eiichiro's
-
Devil Fruits, Name´s (not White and Blackbeard), the 3 powers, the first simpel then more complicated story, the isles, the charakters and things (the admirals bycicle makes me lough every time ^^), the fights
you see everything in this is creative i love OP ;)
-
I love the way every character, even villians, are just so unique and have there own agendas. The cook, doctor, navigator, all that stuff just makes each character so deep I have yet to see any other manga that does that as well as Oda does. If you know of any by all mean send me a PM as I would love to read it. :) It just seems that every character has such a rich history and is so different from the next that the list goes on and on. You can really imagine what characters like Zoro and Sanji do in there down time and are relatable while other mangas its alot harder to seem them as anything but another character to get killed off later. Hope that makes sense.
-
Id also like to add that I love the cover chapters and wish more mangas would start doing that aswell. It should be manditory, lol. On a side note One Piece really is so good I wouldnt be suprised if Oda sold his soul to the devil in return for creating the best manga around. :)
-
Odalogic is my favorite. We'll find out about something and I wonder - how the hell is he going to make that work?
Then BAM!
Like an island in the sky. How are they suppose to get into the damn sky.. oh, you know, a stream that shoots up into the sky that also shot an island into the sky.
Or a talking skeleton. Just the crazy things that seem like they wouldn't make sense but Oda gives us an explaination that is totally acceptable. It makes me glad that he cares so much about the world he's created and wants to make sure it all pans out in a believable manner.

First Post here
Well, what can i say?
- mini chapters on the cover
- Franky and Brook are just kick ass
- the design of villians like jango, foxy, mr. 2, Do Flamingo(etc)
-
I just love his worlds. They are so detailed and thought out. He adds stuff many authors would never even think about. It's crazy awesome.
-
Basicly what everyone has said. The entire series oozes creativity and detail in it. The way that Oda puts it together is amazing and after so long, it's still going strong. Everything is set up so amazingly. Some things are left open for speculation until we come back to it many chapters later and characters have many levels to them. Then there are the fights.
I find it amazing how different the characters are when fighting. They all have different styles and the bounty system really gives another level of excitement and 'coolness'. The higher it is, the larger of a threat you are. However, not all of those with enormous bounties are completely untouchable with lower ones. For example, Enel would have a 500,000,000+ bounty if he was a pirate but was beaten by a 100,000,000 Luffy. But if he were to fight many other large bounty characters he would fry them(or at the least destroy a few islands).
Everything is so unique to the series that it just draws you in. Sorry for all of that, it doesn't really answer the question but I guess the only thing I can say is that the most creative thing about One Piece is One Piece. The series is freaking amazing.

1. Luffy's way of fighting(Luffy's first Pistol was a HUGE "wtf!?" to me)
2. Dial (especially Impact)
3. Shabondy Island
4. Log Pose, Eternal Pose -
- Cover story & SBS.
- Characters with strong and obvious personality.
- The almost unflawed setting of OP world.
- Lots of foreshadowings in the story.
- By reading OP, we can both have funs & tears.
-
AFRO-FUCKIN-LUFFY!!!
Why was this not mentioned earlier? -__-
-
Because somebody already mentioned Luffy's fighting style, which I was going to go with once I saw the title of this thread, I'll have to say character designs. Even the most insignificant characters often have some depth to them, and the amount of ingenuity put into the visual look of every single character is simply incredible. All the designs are really creative and weird and Oda seems to really love coming up with them one after another. I mean, there's a secret cold-blooded assassin group in black suits, yet these guys look awesome and have even got actual personalities? That's quite a feat, really.
-
cool cyborg Franky. Scardy cat sharpshooter Ussop, simple minded kick a$$ captain. And the Davy back fights
-
Gentleman
Musician
Afro
Skeleton -
I like all the different ways to make a skull and crossbones unique and recognisabile he's invented.
Also pandaman sam-san etc…
Ooo Ooo and the animals in the One piece world too.
-
Devil fruits
He can make any power he like and has a perfect explanation
-
Somehow I think some of the best things that Oda does are giving us the most unexpected things when we least expect them and makes many of them connected to the story. The Strawhats need a doctor and what do they get? A talking reindeer! They need a shipwright, they get a cola-powered cyborg! They need a musician, they get a living skeleton man! And the most amazing thing is that the most shocking of all their pickups since entering the GL? Robin literally barging in out of nowhere and asking to join the crew after being the second-in command of Baroque Works! And that's not getting into all the amazing but realistic specifics that all seem to work: cities in the sky, snails telephones, an entire race based off sea creatures (most people usually make anthros of land animals…only Oda can turn fish and octopus into interesting characters)...and of course, hundreds of amazing, usable powers just by eating a piece of fruit. And of course, no ki manipulation or flying required to be super-powerful.
-
Robin's Devil Fruit ability. I've never heard of the sort of ability in my life. It really made things feel like originality WASN'T dead.
-
it's the whole OP universe that is so unique. all the big and small details that work so perfectly well together.
the character development of every single person that appears may it be a villain or a hero is absolutely outstanding. Luffy is the best shonen character ever made. his whole personallty makes him so likeable and i don't even like the heroes normally.
and of course the devil fruits and their abilities. some have frightening powers but at the same time a big weakness which makes the whole fightingsystem in OP very balanced. you don't even need to be a DF user to be powerful.
and how awesome is zoro and his santoryu fighting?you can't possible smoke that much to come up with all this material. Oda is a genius.
-
I think one of Oda's most creative talents is incorporating whatever he wants into the series even if it doesn't fit the world, and he'll make sense of it. He wanted Absalom to shoot kamehameha waves, he has him do it by hiding invisible bazookas under his arm.
