A pirate king in a rubber ring
Chapter 1: "Floating and other terrible fates"
Monday Morning
Or at least I think it’s Monday. I actually don’t know. I’ve been floating using the life saving ring that bastard tossed me for about 6 days. Who does he think he is!? For I am Zaber, the future king of the pirates! Oh I am going to show this old man. I am going to show him good. I haven't eaten since he threw me into the sea. I am staaaarving. Why am I actually writing starving with several “a”s? I don’t know. But it feels like I would say it that way.
Floating in the East Blue sea, the young lad they call “Zaber” scribbled on a small note book he had always with him. There are only four things he has left. The clothes he wears, the ring he’s in and a small wooden chest the “old bastard” gave him a long time ago. “You are going to need it” he said. “You can’t survive without my help in the sea! GARARARARARARA!!” he laughed. Zaber was going to show him. Oh yes, he was going to set him straight! Who did this old fart think he is? Just because he owned the ship made him think he actually owned HIM. That was so unfair!
While Zaber was getting angry at the old man again, a wooden barrel was floating towards him. He, being an expert at survival, immediately wished that the wooden barrel contained the things he needed the most right now.
“Weights!!! I hope it weights!! So I can train again to defeat all the dangerous animals out there!! Oh please let it be weights!!” Weights were the stuff dreams were made of, he thought. He needs them the most right now. Beside food. And drinkable water. And a map. Or a compass. Oh yea, did I mention food? The barrel popped open before he could reach it and a young boy wearing a straw hat jumped out. The boy was roughly the same age as Zaber.
“Hey, you are no weight!” noticed Zaber sharply.
“And you are no ship! Who are you?”
“I am Zaber, the man who is going to become Pirate King!”
“No way, me too!”
“What?! Your name is Zaber, too? What a coincidence! So you are with the family too I suppose?”
“No, no. I mean I am going to become Pirate King! My name is Monkey D. Luffy! Nice to meet you!”
“Why are you in a barrel in the middle of the ocean?”
“Why are you in a rubber ring in the middle of the ocean?”
“…touché! Well I am suffering of a terrible curse. The curse of not being able to swim. It is horrible for a pirate!”
“What? Did you eat a devil fruit too?”
“No, my father just never taught me how to swim. Isn't that horrible!?” explained Zaber sadly.
“WHY DON'T YOU JUST TEACH IT YOURSELF THEN!?!”
“Why, that is a good idea! I never actually thought of that!”
“You are quite a moron aren't you? You'll probably need a good teacher. Let me teach you how to swim!” offered the man with the strawhat kindly.
“Why, thank you!”
The man with the strawhat began to climb out of his barrel, carefully explaining every nuance of swimming before jumping right into the water and beginning to struggle with the water.
“That's how you swim? I believe even I can do better. This looks more like drowning or a freaky way of dancing I suppose.”
The strawhat grabbed a hold of Zaber's ring and explained to him, that he forgot about his devil fruit which robs him of the ability to swim. Zaber once heared of such fruits, but his old man never really trusted people who depend on them. Luffy climbed back into his barrel and they both parted ways, both agreeing that who ever finds One Piece first is allowed to keep it and does not have to share with the other one. Luffy's barrel was heading for the open sea, where as Zaber and his rubber ring were now heading towards a small island in the far distance, which is almost entirely covered with forest. On the shore of said island was a young girl with long brown hair in a long white dress looking into the sea, probably longing to see someone again.
“Lantis…” whispered the young girl.
Who is the “old men” Zaber keeps referring too? Who is this “Lantis”? Will Zaber find the weights of his dreams? And what about the wooden chest? All that will be answered in the next chapter.
Actually not, but at least some of that. Probably.
