I agree with Roman for once, One Piece does need to be in stores like Wal-Mart for it to get great sales. Sorry, but that's the truth. I didn't say it needs to be to "get by" but to get great sales, Wal-Mart or keep on walking.

I'm confident my Wal-Mart isn't gonna get it as it had all of FUNi's May 27th releases out early by no One Piece.

Most video games/DVDs don't go to Walmart untill at least a week or two after it's release date. It's been that way with Naruto to. Just because the stores didn't get One Piece a week earlier or on the first or second day that the set came out is absolutely no reason to be confident that the store won't get it. The exception to that would be REALLY popular titles, like Grand Theft Auto 4 for example. And most live action movies hit shelves on release. But it will more than likely be there within the week. You guys either know nothing about the store or are just going out of your way to be pessimistic. It is perfectly normal for the DVD not to be in Walmart the first or second day it comes out. Honestly, you guys are acting pathetic. I'm not being overy optimistic or overly pessimistic. I'm being REALISTC. A DVD isn't in stores the day of it's fucking release or earlier and the show automatically bombed. You guys are just trying to damn hard to make One Piece look like a failure.

Yeah seriously everyone relax. This happend with DBZ Season 4, when it came out a few months ago at Wal Mart as well. Since most Wal-Mart from what I heard didn't get it until like a week or two later.

Im planning on buying it…. Just not right now. Im a cheapskate(which is why my anime DVD collection is non-existant), so I am waiting until the price drops before buying it.
The most I will pay for each DVD season would be $30 ($25 would be IDEAL, as that is how much I am paying for the CSI seasons' boxsets). Figuring about $2 for each episode, plus a few extra dollars for the extras.

Amazon has it for 37$ now, so it shouldn't be too hard to find the boxset for 30$

9/10. It's by all means an excellent release. The video-quality isn't that great, but that's just because the source-materials weren't very good in the first place. The actual encoding is great. My only problem… You know, I won't even bother SAYING it again. It's no big deal anyway.

Well I finished the DVD's. Must say they did an great job, I was as interested in it as I was when I first watched the Japanese episodes. Really great job on the dub. But don't expect any extra besides Textless Songs and Trailers.

Every other anime release that was geared to come out on MAY 27th was being sold in my Walmart, besides, of course, One Piece.

Now who knows if it'll remain like that. Maybe it won't. But for the record, they're not selling movie 8 either (but they do have the Naruto movie and various Pokemon movies) so it just seems odd.

At the very least, I'm not expecting MY Walmart to get the set. And you wanna know something? I don't think it's solely MY Walmart that is doing this. Which is why I'm worried One Piece won't be sold in mainstream stores like Walmart, while other series will.

Exactly. That's always what I thought about Walmart when it deals with anime releases (although the presence of Vexile throws that outta whack).

They better take notice of the season 1 set selling… Because they sure don't have movie 8 stocked. Or, as Buuhan stated, had it stocked but took it away (probably because of low sales).

Same here. I actually work at one of the Wal~Marts here in North Texas and I had been keeping an eye out on how Movie 8 does here and let me tell ya, it didn't sell SQUAT. My accosiates finally got rid of it a few days ago and judging by this, I pretty much doubt they're gonna bother with One piece anymore. All they have now are Naruto, DBZ, and Bleach, though thats fine with me since I am a much bigger fan of those series anyway but still.

So I hear good things about the dub. That's excellent news. I'll want to pick it up soon, but I just might wait for a bit. I know I pay $20 for a DVD with a couple of episodes on it, so I suppose I can see the 40 for 13 episodes. Hmm…..

I am pretty surprised that Wal-Mart didn't get it. They've been pushing Naruto, DBZ, and Bleach and they had Movie 8.

Oh well, ordered mine for $30 off of DDD. Shipped today so I should have it by Monday.

Yeah, just got mine today! Also the Color Walk I purchased. Watched the first four episodes, reminded me of the days of reading volume 1 for the first time three years ago.

Hopefully they can keep with the 6-8 week release schedule that was said. If so, I'll more than survive on DVD releases alone.

I do have patience. But even still, One Piece always seems to have something holding it back.

Hopefully, the DVDs sell and will prompt more stores to carry the series' products… But based on current events, I can't say I'm very hopeful.

I know it's unrelated, but last year, I went to New Hampshire on vacation, and there was a Wal-Mart near the hotel, so before I left, I looked up to see if it had Megaman star Force in stock. The website said it wasn't sold in stores, but I went anyway, and BAM! A ton of MMSF in stock.

So don't believe the website.

It's inconvenience that can cost it less sales than the above mentioned shows. I'm sure many don't care about that, and to which, don't reply. But that's what I'm getting at.

I understand where he's coming from, but it's only 1 major-retail store out of many. If we start hearing about a bunch of major-retail stores doing it, then it may be time to worry. But not now.

Besides, when Wal-Mart sees the sales, they might be inclined to get the DVD. Or at least get Second Voyage when it comes out.

I'd say Walmart doesn't have it (or if it does get it, won't for a while) because movie 8 sold horrifically, and the executives in charge of deciding what to sell don't know that the DVD's of the actual series are more or less guaranteed to sell better then movie 8. Besides, this DVD seems to making most of its sales over the Internet anyway. Probably because it's easier to find a bargain when you're Web-shopping.

Who buys Anime at Wal-Mart anyways? I know there the biggest retailer in the world but theres just some products that its not going to make a difference if they sold them. From what I understand they don't or didn't sell any Eminem CD's and he did fine. ( I know OP and Eminem totally different but bare with me)

Yes. And the Naruto boxsets usually don't go to Walmart untill a couple weeks after release date when it's already been at Best Buy for $40.00. Now people want to think that this is anything special with One Piece. And the price of those stupidly expensive anime DVDs usually won't be all that different anywhere you buy em', as they were already just stupidly expensive anime DVDs.

We have DBZ Seasons 1-5, we hold most of the Miyazaki Movies, Appleseed EX Machina, we even had trailers for this stuff when it first came out!!
Also, I haven't been to work since before the 27th, but we have people reporting that the Store is Carrying OP S1 FV, so when I go in today I'll check on it.

So I bought it and I've watched the first 3 epsiodes. It's great, but does anyone find Zoro's voice with his sword in his mouth really distracting. It's good for Funi fixing it since I don't recall the japanese version doing it, but it's kinda annoying.

Oh and young kobi (not the voice) annoys the hell out of me too.

I dont like it,but i dont dislike it either. It adds way more realism than the japanese version. I always assumed thats how Zoro would sound with the sword in his mouth in the anime anyways, and when he spoke in the japanese version as if there was no sword there, I was taken aback a lot.
It's a cool little thing Funi tried out tho. I wont fault them for it yet. But if Zoro ends up having tons of dialogue with the sword in his mouth it'll get really annoying.

I always loved Koby and his dub voice is awesome!
