Definitely "20th Century Boys", I'll be really surprised if it doesn't get animated at some point, "The Hating Girl" because it's a charming and strange series, and "Sandland". And this isn't a Japanese comic, but I'd also like to see "Scott Pilgrim" animated.

Oh, and "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" and "Akira". Yes, I know they already became classic movies but they never adapted the full original stories straight from the manga.

Ooo, and I can't believe I forgot to mention "Sundome".

I'd like to see some of the Tenchi Muyo manga get animated as gaiden to the series; characters like Minagi and Yumi are too awesome and it's a shame they didn't make the cut for the OAV.

Zombie Powder as a one-shot would be interesting. If Kubo goes back to the series after Bleach, though, it's inevitable.

Invader Earth-Girl Q.Ko-chan would be amazing. It's the same author as FLCL, so you know it'd make a great anime.

Read or Die (The manga story) would be interesting. Fumiko was in the Movie, but wasn't in the TV Series, was she? (I haven't seen the TV series yet).

And of course, Trigun Maximum would be amazing Animated.

Fairy Tail: Yeah, I'll also jump on this bandwagon
Girl Saurus: How could anyone not love a harem story that has such a twist + fanservice that's sometimes not welcome
Zetman: Best done as an OVA cause the way it's paced, it wouldn't be unthinkable that a whole volume could fit into an episode
Mr Fullswing: Love the comedy style - love it more as an anime
(The rest of) Jojo's Bizarre Adventure + Steel Ball Run: Though I haven't seen any of the existing anime, I will one day considering the boner I have for the manga (Giorno&Gold Experience FTW). Oh God! Please finish scanlating Stone Ocean so I can start SBR!

They need to Release Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: The Phantom Blood on DVD, and then make Battle Tendency into An Anime, Remake Stardust Crusaders into a GOOD anime, and make Diamond is Unbreakable, Golden Wind, Stone Ocean, and then Steel Ball Run.
Also, Tenjho Tenge, but make it into an OVA series like Hellsing, so it can be Uncut.

Do I detect hate for the FMA anime? It was good, though different. It's like two great stories from the same universe. At that, I would really like to see the manga's storyline animated. At an Aniplex panel at NYAF, the representative there hadn't ever considered the idea of animating it, though.

Other manga adaptations that should be redone: Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun.

And, Yotsuba& would be pretty awesome.

I was surprised that Dogs: Stray Dogs Howling in the Dark never received OVA or something, it was such a good one-shot. Well, maybe the radio drama was a better choice…the japanese voice cast for that was godly.

I'd love to see a series of Tenjou Tenge OVAs, and also a full series for 3x3 Eyes. 3x3 Eyes has five or six OVAs made for it back in the early 90s, but they hardly to the 40-volume epic justice.

And yes, a Yotsuba& anime would probably be hysterical. I'd watch it. Also, more School Rumble.

Now that it's been canned and they don't have to worry about filler, they should REALLY make an Mx0 anime. Heck, it might even get the series started up again if they made like an OAV or something. But mostly right now, I want to see the rest of Shijou Saikyou no Deshi, Kenichi animated. That show was love!

Surprised to see all the Fair Tail love here, consider the series has been in many occasions criticized as a OP-wannabe.

I do follow the series and don't think it suck or anything, just that so far IMO it hasn't been outstanding and basically is another typical shonen. And when compared to OP(which can't be helped given the similiarity of styles), just the first 80 or so chapters, it's still lacking in a few aspects.

Back on topic, most on my list are remakes of old series since I don't follow too many new ones:

Dragon Quest: Dai's Adventure. The manga is based on a novel iirc, which in turn is based on the famous game with the ultimate cliche setup. But the actual story turns out better than you'd think and it has plenty awesome characters. It has an anime made back almost 20 years ago when the manga was still going. A remake of the whole series wouldn't be half bad.
I''s. In this world of fan-servicing craps, people need to know what a real good young love story is :P (Granted the manga has its own fair share of exposure but it's so much more)
Guyver. Where I got my namesake. A series where the bad guys actually took over the world and the ultimate villain turns out to be a savior like figure. Can't beat that. (Though the manga's so damn slow and lately the plot's gotten a bit silly)
Legend of Galactic Heroes. You want space war? Forget Gundam(especially the new ones) and read/watch this. Evangelion drew inspiration from it should tell you something. Granted it already has a terrific 108-episode anime series, I guess I just want more. (Shame western fans know so little about it)
Lucky Star Season 2. I know it's not everybody's cup of tea but I'd do A LOT things to see this happen >.>

Final rant: with all these great series (not just the ones I mentioned but others in this thread too) deserve to be turned into animes/remade, what we end up getting in upcoming seasons? Stuff like Zero no Tsukaima Season 3, Kanokon, To-love-ru… Sigh
