"Pirate King" is not an actual title.

I guess it also means having One Piece in your position and being the king of the sea. These reasons of course straight from Luffy.

Being the Pirate King would equate to a status like Gold Roger's; a seemingly invincible pirate feared and reveared by everyone on every sea. Having One Piece itself doesn't make one the Pirate King, but being a strong enough pirate to successfully attain it makes you such.
It isn't having One Piece, it's the fact that you managed to obtain One Piece.
