Yeah, he used it quite a few times after Part III. I was just referring to Part III specifically, is all.
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

-
Yeah, he uses it more in the other parts, that's true.
And I haven't felt any Josuke love anywhere.
-
I've always liked Josuke.
I'm not sure why. Maybe because he's a fairly easy-going character for a fairly easy-going part of the series. I just think he fits with part IV, which to me has a kind of different feel from the other parts.
-
@Impel:

Hi.
Josuke's my favorite Jojo because he makes me think of some kind of mix between Joseph and Jotaro, and his plans were just damn awesome sometimes.
-
Well now I've just started Josuke discussion.
I'm not saying you all hated him, I just said I've never heard someone say that they liked him, or really showed any opinion for him. I hadn't heard much about Part IV, really, aside from Kira from people.
-
Josuke was a really great change of pace after Joseph and Jotaro. IMO, another hardcore "DON'T FUCK WITH ME!!!" Joestar would've been a bit much. And I like the idea that he looks like a school punk but acts exactly the opposite.
The hair thing was annoying, though, and his stand was always a bit eh. But overall, I thought that he made for a really solid lead.
-
A duck-tail JoJo was kinda great, in my opinion. Good to get away from the same old hairstyles in the series. And his attitude did make for a good change, I agree. Giorno was a bit too optimistic, so he was a good balance.
His Stand was a little weird, yeah, but at least it wasn't as fucked up as some of the Part 3 ones. And I don't understand how Josef is his biological dad, but Jotaro is his uncle…
-
I didn't have a problem with the 'do in itself, just the "DON'T MESS WITH THE HAIR!!!" attitude. The last thing this world needs is another saturday night fever reminder.
And I don't his stand was weird, just kinda dull and uninteresting. I didn't like the fact that Araki just completely copied the World's design, and the healing thing was really cheap and unnecessary.
-
I did not like that it was just a blue "The World", I agree. But the healing was kind of its calling card, so you can't really get rid of that. The healing is what I thought was weird about it.
-
It woulda been kinda cool (since most of jojo has a time element)
If It turned out that the punk who saved Josuke turned out to be Josuke from the future due to a stand or that alien guy.
EDIT
Ps. Part 4 and 5 are obviously kinda like fillers since they don't really CONTRIBUTE anything to the cannon, but they are still really good.
-
Bah. The Punk should remain nameless forever. That's the whole charm of that story. He's one of small town urban legends that nobody knows or hears about.
-

Another?
I personally haven't found any of the Jojos to have extremely similar personalities to be honest.
-
They were similar in the sense that Araki was trying to make them your typical manga bad-asses. And Jotaro was different from that. He was a lot less aggressive.
I'm not saying that they were poorly written or anything.
-
Johnathan wasn't really a "typical manga bad-ass". I mean, he owned a lot and had bad-ass scenes, especially when he was underwater and got the air bubble, but he actually progressed and didn't have a dickish attitude like Josef (who I'm not hating, but still).
-
Jonathan was the fucking man.
-
He was.
Although he never had the JoJo cracker balls.
-
No, he had the Beefy Arms That Can Withstand a Whirling Deathblade.
-
I always found it funny how polite Jonathan was.
He was like "I'm a gentlemen and I abhor senseless violence".
But he was friggin ripped. -
I hated that "noble gentleman" shit. And all the crying was annoying too.
-
Yea, seriously, Jonathon was a real fucking man in every aspect.
Josuke wasn't really my favorite cuz his personality seemed kinda generic to me; and his hairstyle…
-
I loved that Jonathan was a friendly noble fellow, yet was still a fucking extremist pimp who could piss on your head and give you a contusion. He always did the right thing, but damn if he didn't do it while gulping down beef jerky and rum.
-
He's literally, in all meaning of the phrase, the pinnacle of man.
I really can't stress this point enough (Gohn's coming close, though)
-
It kind of makes me mad that he was defeated by Dio's disembodied head after he had already kicked Dio's ass twice.
-
speaking of which, how the hell did Jonathon's wife (Erina, I think) float away on the casket that Dio was supposedly at the bottom of the ocean with?
i could of swore, at the end of part 1, that was how she floated to shore
-
I just finished part four and…do they ever explain whats up with the alien guy? Like so thats his power or what?
-
One of the books explains that he's really just a Stand user. His Stand's name is Earth, Wind, and Fire.
It was never fully detailed on whether or not he's truly an alien, though. He could just be a human Stand user that likes being weird.

This post is deleted!

!
! F*CK YEAH, JONATHAN -
Has HigherVoltage released anything new since October?
If took a break mid-Part 5 to wait for some more to come out so I wouldn't run out of JoJo and leave off on some cliffhanger, but has Part 6 been finished yet?
Oh, and kinda dissapointed they revealed what the alien guy actually was. I liked the amibiguity behind the fact you couldn't figure out what he was.
-
They were similar in the sense that Araki was trying to make them your typical manga bad-asses. And Jotaro was different from that. He was a lot less aggressive.
I'm not saying that they were poorly written or anything.
I have to say that I don't see any JoJo as the "typical manga bad-ass" besides Jotaro.
Giorno was somehow close to it, but not exactly.
And Josef… man, HOW can Josef be a "typical manga bad-ass"? He is the guy without any dignity in a fight. In order to make his plans succeed he plays possum, he tries to run away, he waits until the enemy look away to use some dirty and stupid (but useful) trick... and his is always a really stupid guy, despite being kind a genius. I love Josef, my favorite character in JJBA, but I have to say that he is NOT badass at all.
Jotaro is the only "badass" JoJo. Josef is the unnorthodox one. Jonathan is the paladin. Josuke is our common guy. Giorno is lame (sorry). Jolyne is... the girl. Johnny is the spoiled brat.
-
I fucking loved Giorno, but you're right about the rest of them. I guess you could say Jolyne is the bad-ass girl aka the tomboy fighter. She's really a lot like Jotaro, attitude wise, but isn't as "always win" or gruff as him.
-
Josuke was actually one of my favorite Jojos. I liked his easy-going attitude, and didn't mind the whole "I'll kick your ass if you insult my hair!" thing. He might've been too nice, but that's what I like about this series; every one of the characters has a different personality for each part. Jonothan was a gentleman, Joseph was a mischevious punk, Jotaro was a cold bastard, and Josuke was the cheerful nice guy.
I really don't know how to describe Giorno, and can't speak for Jolyne since I haven't read part VI yet.
-
@Senshi:
I really don't know how to describe Giorno
Fabulous is a good start.
But with all this "JoJo's Classification", I don't really see how to classify Johnny, or maybe since he's not the main character in SBR, we should just look at Gyro's character.
-
As much as I liked his hair, Giorno really just felt like he was "there." Nothing about him stood out, as his entire character was: "I am going to be a famous mobster!" That's it. He was completely serious about being a famous mobster and nothing more.
-
That's what made me like him at the beginning.
I imagined the story was going to be him doing anything to get to the top through a bunch of missions where this ambition keeps getting tested, with some traits he inherited from Dio surfacing and it ends with fighting the boss, getting battered and bruised in the process, and then being crowned the new leader (maybe him becoming dark or some shit).
But then it's like one mission the entire story, and its to escort a daughter of a man who could of killed her at anytime.
But, still; some of the stands were good.
last edit…
-
I think Araki was trying to sell him as a charismatic leader, someone ambitious that you can look up to.
Which should be a really fascinating angle for a character, but yea, it didn't really work for me either.
-
@Impel:
Fabulous is a good start.
Nothing biased mind you.
Gohn pretty much summed up the way I felt about Giorno's character. Most of the time I was having interests with the other characters more.
-
Giorno really did pale in comparison to the other characters on his team. I think it's because everyone else was more experienced, developed and knew what they were doing– by far, more interesting. Bucciarati displayed more of the "Jojo genius" in his fighting than Giorno did.
Josuke is my favourite Jojo, then Johnny.
Josuke was just a nice guy, being the only Jojo who's never killed anyone and a bizarre talent make everyone join his side; his apperance in the manga also becomes friendlier if you compare his debut to his last apperance.
Johnny actually shows signs of change as the story progresses (and I'm lame enough to have read the Raws), given his past he seems to have that 'redemption' thing going on, which I find really nice. I've never seen a more creative paraplegic character who doesn't always rely on some kind of transportation in combat.! Especially against Soundman.

and that noone died, but thats pretty normal for a shounen main

! F*CK YEAH, JONATHANHaha. Thanks for reminding me how bizarre (No pun intended) Araki made body proportions back in Parts I and II. Sometimes, it was hard not to take scenes seriously with Jonathan and young Joseph having small heads while the rest of their bodies were huge.
-
and that noone died, but thats pretty normal for a shounen main
Didn't half of their members die?
and yeah, Giorno didn't feel like a main character since he rarely ever took center stage in any conflict. and even when he did, he did nothing to make him seem like anything more than a supporting character.
-
Yea, if anyone Bucciarati felt like the main character for most of it.
-
Actually, that's one of the few things I like about Giorno… well, it's probably the only thing.
It somehow reminded me of Vaan from FFXII - although he was the protagonist of the game, he was just secondary to the story. But Jay_n_Silentbob sumarized pretty much what I think about Giorno in his post some hours ago... and how I was disappointed to see he ended up not following what I would expect from a "good guy with Dio 'genes'".
@Qualms
Really?
Damn. I instantly liked Johnny 'cause of his flashback. He is pretty different now, but he is still an annoying brat and I love that about him (my favorite JoJo after Josef)... I really wouldn't like to see the guy "redeem" himselfI can take he being a typical good guy specifically with Gyro 'cause I like their relationship, but not in general.
-
The Johnny + Gyro combo is the best thing to happen to Jojo. After SBR is finished, I'll probably call it my favorite part of Jojo.
-
I was kinda sad(yet really relieved as it wasn't that enjoyable towards the end) when I finished part 5.
Then you guys reminded me that steel ball run still exists.
Is there a good place to download it? My source only has 2 volumes.
-
highervoltage has all 5
-
I'd probably like Johnny more if almost every time a fight broke out he didn't spend a good half of each chapter yelling "ジヤイ~~~~~ロ!!!!!" and breaking down crying while Gyro does all the work.
-
Gyro yelling at Johnny to stop being a bitch is great as well. Well at least telling him to mellow out some.
-
So why no love for Jolyne? Heh, just kidding. I think all the jojos are good in there own ways and every story has its good points. Jotaro is by far the most popular but which Jojo do you guys prefer or most enjoyed?

My favorites are Josuke and Joseph (especially part III Joseph).
