Well, first, I disagree that the anime is slow paced. The transiction from the manga is done in a very faithful way and the show has a very reduced amount of filler material (the one it has only serves to cover some gaps).
Second, I somewhat agree with some things you said about Stardust Crusaders. The plot is very simple and somewhat repetitive, but it´s the execution that makes it good.
It´s kind of weird. It´s the most popular part (or so they say), but everyone i know that has read the series has it in their bottom 3.
Also, by "slow paced", did you meant "THEY NEVER GET TO EGYPT"?
I don´t really understand your line about them being idiots.
Apart from a couple of fights (all involving Polnareff) they know exactly that they are under attack, they just don´t know how to deal with it.
About why I like Jojo...
Well, that´s a hard one.
I think the main reason is that the series is entertaining like fuck.
Sure it´s not a masterpiece in an objective way, but I don´t think it was ever trying to achieve that status.
Araki said that he drew Jonathan and Joseph as big muscular men because action movies with those kind of protagonists were entertaining. When asked about why did he made Stands the way he did, he said he got bored when he saw shows when the characters used some psychic power and the only thing hewas doing was waving hands.
It´s all about the entertainment, and that is why, despite its many obvious flaws, the series has a shitton of fans.
The characters are awesome.
The Art is unique.
The poses are outrageous.
The dialogue is fun.
The fights are nicely choreographed.
Jojo delivers. A chapter about a fucking parfait entertained me more than the whole Fairy Tail manga. I´ve read that thing a dozen times already!
And while it is a very good action manga, it can also be suprisingly sad at times, especially in the latter parts.
I´m tired and i don´t feel like making an entire thesis about this, but Jojo simply does things better than many other mangas without trying too hard.
Has for the Bleach comparison, I really don´t want to talk about that.
