Going through chapters 3 and 4. Dio's rise and fall of vampiredom, Zepelli's and the Ripple introduction. I noticed a drop in the fluidity of the plot, chapter 3 was very good, excelent climax, and the series could have theoreticaly ended there and then and be a good short manga. It's easy to argue in favor of continuing the story now after 1000 chapters, but then, it could have made sense.
The next chapters tell me that it was the plan all along. The next few chapters, where the ripple and Zepelli are introduced, if now seem very interesting and clasic, then they feel like showing up a bunch of ideas that seem half cooked, and that weren't as solid as what is before and what comes next.
Episode 4 was choppy, and weird in certain scenes, that I can laugh it up as "Oh you Araki" but objectively are bad. Jonathan lifting the stone out of nowhere, and Jack's torture device aparatus jump of nowhere are the ones that seem obvious in my mind. But when I checked the manga chapters, it was just the same (rock and torture device out of nowhere).
Other changes were that the asian zombie guy who's name eludes me (wang chen?), in the manga jumps out of nowhere and gets half killed by Jonathan just after finishing his training, just to prove that the ripple works on vampires, and the guys following him into Windknights lot, despite already having a lead to Dio, and being counterproductive for them to let the vampires know about the ripple.
Also they changed Erina's cold moment to Speedwagon, to him just spying them and "Serenely Skeddadling" then. The "Vikings" moment was shorter, Jack isn't shown toying with his last victim as human.
In conclusion, Taking out Wang Chen's scenes makes a little more sense than just leaving it in. And the akward moments were in the manga in the first place.
Chapter 3 was glorious.

Vento Aureo has the highest body count in all of JoJo, correct?
-
Highest body count goes to Stone Ocean for technically killing everyone on the planet.
-
Yeah, but I mean named characters. That don't return in some way or another.
-
@Cyan:

Even that's understating it
-
Yeah, but I mean named characters. That don't return in some way or another.
I would hardly call THAT "returning".
That's like saying Jonathan, Caesar, DIO… They all "returned" at the beginning of SBR.
"Returning" is more like Dio (the first three times), Stroheim, Joseph, Abdul, Okuyasu...
-
We've 'been through this', haven't we? SBR is not necessarily 'the world where Irene lives'.
But you are right 'regardless'. 'Irene' and the others didn't have 'memories' of the 'original timeline', so it's more like they were 'reincarnated'. Poor 'wording' on my part.

I wonder if D4C can interact with the original timeline.

Although that assumes that the flow of time holds parallel across dimensions, whereas it could just as easily be the case that he could travel to original dimension's past

After jump startup, you cannot perform actions for a set amount of time. This means you cannot TK moves, and instant rising overheads on crouchers no longer work
I'm sorry CC2, but what the fuck are you doing?
This is really going to throw me off when I get it, I TK air-moves out of reflex.

Remember, these are the people who think we can just go and Knocking on Araki's Door so that he can pull out some Cheap Tricks and get us the Gold Experience. This post has been redacted by the RIAA.

Digitally, as in ebooks?

I'm trying not to get my hopes up that this will work out. But I'm glad Viz is trying though :(

A re-airing of JoJo's first two anime parts has been announced on their official site. it starts october 5 and it'll go on until the last saturday of march. I bet the part 3 will be aired just after the re-airing of the first part (due to Dio's implication in the third part), so around the 7th of december… just hoping as always

Eeeeeeeven Speedwagon is afraid!

"Oh the delicious cruel irony."

If I'm not mistaken, we should have a new Jojolion (and a new Dorohedoro, muthafuckas!) very very soon, right? Exactly two months since last chapter, so I guess. . .really soon?
-

-
And as soon as I asked for mah Dorohedoro, I got it!
Fook yeah!
Ask and thou shalt receive.
Now, shall we ask for some new One Piece as well? Even if Oda's on break. Maybe it works. -

So I just caught up with the Anime:
I didn't like the Phantom Blood adaption, once you get past episode 3 the pace is just ludicrously fast for my liking (especially episode 4 which just blows through the introduction, training, and first battle concerning the Ripple). It was too the point were a handful of animation moments went by so fast I actually wondered what the hell just happened. There were a lot of moments meant to be epic, but basically having them happen near non-stop and playing that epic mid evil track all the time kills any build up I need to really find those moments rewarding. I even looked up the Manga (no I haven't read it, just skimmed a tiny bit, for the most part the art style is too old for my liking, though those Stardust Crusader chapters still look epic) and figured "no wonder" when I found out they were condensing like 45 chapters into nine episodes, even attacks like "ripple Cutter" are slower paced in the Manga.
I also wasn't a fan of a lot of the dialogue, maybe the sub was bad but characters either read like Saturday morning super heroes, or placed such an over abundance of weight into their words that it sounds like a terrible Shakespeare imitation to me (example: The whole "true gentlemen" talk that goes on just for something like not wanting to kill an attacker that was no match for you to begin with).
Now what do I think of Battle Tendencies?
! Fucking amazing! It makes phantom blood worth it. The ridiculousness would have a hard time being any more awesome. Ripples pretty much become the most creative and flashy fighting style ever with characters using it on pretty much everything, and the villains are the shit in terms of making the a fight entertaining. Joseph's tendency to read everyone felt out of place at first, but when all the fights became unpredictable because of it, you can imagine I loved it. Ceaser went out marvelously, and Strongheim had the greatest comeback I've ever seen! I was disappointed that Lisa, being the sensei, never got a real fight scene but, oh well she was challenging the main villain, and way too fragile to take a hit in this series. The fast paced is still there, and I actually love it because it doesn't feel like their blowing through necessary build up or anything, the story progresses just fine to me. I won't write a whole review, because I'm sure most on this thread can already imagine why I love this so much (as if the wall of text isn't plenty), so I'll just say I'm hooked on this Anime now,and can't wait till this Stardust Crusaders Arc everyone's talking about gets adapted.
-
Phantom Blood's dialogue doesn't age particularly well.
Even so, Speedwagon's overeager emphasis on exposition is entertainingly cheesy.
You must have enjoyed that at least. -
Yeah, Phantom Blood definitely is a relic of things gone by now with a strong emphasis of being like Hokuto no Ken (like everything else around that time). It's fun to watch because it's super cheesy, but it definitely is not one of the stronger JoJo parts. Even so, at least you've got Zeppeli and Speedwagon.
It's almost certain they sped through Phantom Blood to get to Battle Tendency though.
-

You must have enjoyed that at least. Not really I'm afraid, though I do find it comical that he apparently goes from what I assume is a high ranking gangster, to the Jojos' biggest fan who refuses that they ever be placed in danger.

don't forget super rich oil tycoon who uses his incredible assets to help the Joestar family years after his death

Y'all know that Old Joseph and Lisa Lisa were confirmed as DLC, right?
EDIT: Nevermind, there's another thread.

@Purple:

That too, that man must have seen anyone ever beaten in a fight get killed or something. Being shown mercy was the greatest day of his life.
-
Speedwagon just got a massive boner for Jonathnan which refused to subside until the day he died.
-
You ruined my existence with the exposure of this…..I'm dying laughingggggggg XDXDXDXDXD

After re-reading part 1 and watching the anime, the ripple introductory chapters seem a lot like an aftertougth, as they are weirdly paced and somewhat divagatory.
From chapter one to the hospital chapters seems like a very cohesive history, I'm guessing that it was Araki's original plan, the series managed to hit it in those 15 chapters, and then he just had to build it up to continue, stumbled a little, probably was a little anoyed with Jonathan (Considering how much he used Jotaro and Joseph in other parts, I'm guessing that he felt better about them).
To sum my theory up: Araki's original plan ended with Dio's first defeat, the series' success made him continue onto the ripple, causing some weird chapters, eventualy returning to shape around the dark knights chapters.
-
After all, nothing spells success like D-I-O
-
I like Jonathan. As far gentlemen go I don't see Professor Layton kicking people to death with steroid legs and deliberately swinging a punch through a flame for a fire fist
-
Hey, some kind anon posted JoJoveller scans. There's a stand dictionary in there, which reveals the names of previously unnamed stands, though he only shared three of them.
