@ Thugcat: Reading JoJo only for Dio? It's your choice, but you are missing out. For instance, a lot of people, myself included, hold Yoshikage Kira (part 4) as the greatest antagonist in the series.
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

Its been a while since I read Part 2 so the story will feel a bit fresh for me as I watch the anime version. Episode 1 of Battle Tendancy has really impressed me and I'll definitely be looking forward to the new opening as well as reliving those awesome scenes with Joseph
-
I just thought of a reason for why Joseph couldn't use Hermit Purple to scout out Kira's location. He's old and decrepit and rather senile at that point, and stands come about due to strong willpower. Therefore, it was a much weaker stand that couldn't face off against Kira's massive willpower.
-
I am 100% sure I had read that before.
How? It came out yesterday

And other thing:
Spoilers for Part 4:
! Despite being a plothole, I still think Josuke didn't use his powers on the button to localize Kira because it could be dangerous. What I mean is, they never found Fatty's body and for them everything out of the place must be analyzed with great care before taking any kind of action. So by finding nothing but a button and the witnesses seeing Fatty hurt, but nothing of Kira, this one may be considered too dangerous to be confronted head on due to his mysterious powers and "stealth". Even Jotaro who wants to punch guys into oblivion doesn't risk his own life and the others without researching and thinking in a strategy first.
-
Now that I think about it, how is it that Joseph looks like Jonathan (sans the hair I mean)? I mean, they're aren't related by blood are they? I'm really confused.

Joseph is jonathans grandson. lol it was mentioned a couple of times during the episode^^ Wich means yes they are blood related.
-
That's strange though, I thought the only child they had was the one Erina saved from the ship before it exploded. Otherwise, when did they have the time to concieve any children of their own? Did I miss something?

! I thought it was that Erina saved that baby but she was also pregnant at the time.

Was she pregnant? I don't remember that being mentioned. But if that's the case, it makes sense now XD
-
Yeah Erina was pregnant. She had a son and the baby that she rescued from the ship was a girl. They'll both be mentioned later in Part 2.
-
! I'm like 99% sure that was mentioned. She gave that baby to the saved baby Ripple Masters. That girl was with Erina's son. They had Joseph.
Overall spoilers:

Spoilers for Part 2:
! Erina was pregnant, and her son is George Joestar II. The baby Erina saved is Lisa Lisa, George II wife and Joseph's mom. Erina left her on the care of Straits, that's why she's a Ripple Master. Simple.

I'm a bit confused on stuff I should spoiler in this thread. lol.

Just cover what hasn't appeared in the anime, it's better.

I don't know what part the anime is at since I haven't started watching it yet lol.

http://hiwamatanoboru.com/2012/12/08/gintama-426-jojolion-16/This chapter's been out for a while. Another group gave an adequate scan for it. It's only now that we got the hiwamantaborou release for it.

There's a 2 months timeskip between the end of the battle vs Dio and the day Jonathan and Erina took the boat to the US.
-
Guys, could you PLEASE use spoiler tags for the people that are just watching the anime?
You basically just ruined the end of Part 2.
-
Caught up completely with jjba in only a few months, what a read. Gotta say Steel Ball Run was definitely my favourite but jojolion is showing a lot of promise too.
-

Everyone watching the anime knows that Erina was pregnant and she saved a baby, nothing was spoiled.

Sorry. Wasn't sure what the system was since this thread had been around a while before the anime.

Spoilers for Part 3
! I think he meant that, in posting the family tree, it became clear that Joseph was going to survive through part 2, even though that's far from obvious to first time viewers.
-
I know it's a bit late, but HOLY SHIT! Joseph Joestar is A BOSS!
The tommy gun scene was so epic, I simply had to add it to my sig. Now, I'm going to go into hibernation for six more days or else the wait is going to kill me.

Hey guys, new to the thread. Just finished Part 6.
Spoilers for the ending of the 6th part:! Mindfuck.
In general i enjoyed part 5 more than 6. I can see that people appreciate Steel Ball Run a lot, is it that good?
-
Yes, it is a great part. The main characters are awesome, there are a few minor tweaks to the power systen that really enhances things and the story has a lot of very interesting twists.

Steel Ball Run really shows Araki's improvement on all fronts.Art, storytelling, stand powers, and much more. It's also helped by the fact that it was a monthly manga.
-
! So been reading the manga, I fucking love Joseph, the first and second part of the manga are pretty damn awesome.
! I don't know if I'm the only one but did anyone find the third part boring at times? I liked the more focused story we got in the first two parts, the whole theme didn't do much for me and Josuke is boring as heck compared to Joseph, not saying I didn't completelly enjoy it but I think its definetly worse then the first two parts, I found myself bored at times in this part and I didn't feel that in the first and second I just wanted to read more and more.
! Starting part 4 now, I hope its good. -

! Starting part 4 now, I hope its good.! I suppose you mean Jotaro and not Josuke. Josuke's 4th part's Jojo. And yes, Joseph was the best of all~
If you found the 3rd part boring at times, i suppose you will find the next parts boring at times as well, cause they follow the same story telling formula (Stand - Fight - Conclusion etc). At least that's what i think if you compare the first two parts and the parts from 3 and later. -

! Yeah I think the stands made it boring for me somehow, really? we dont get more stonemask people and vampires and ripple techniques? damn
! Damn I wanted to read something like the first two parts, well I'll take it easy then in this ones so I dont get bored so easly(reading many chapter at the time doesn't help).
! Going to finish Volume 2 now and probably going back to it just in a few days. -
I felt like that about Part 3 too. The storytelling was too linear, Jotaro was boring, and I missed the ripple. That's why I don't get why Part 3 is the favorite part for so many people.
But it gets better. I loved Part 4, and like me you will probably get used to stands to a point you won't be able to imagine Jojo without them anymore.

I guess some people are fans of stands but like I said story wise and in terms of main character I just dont see how someone prefers part 3(but it migth just be my taste).
Hope so, I'm finishing Volume.2 rigth now I'm not that excited about it yet.

He'll still live on in my heart. And my imgur account.

Spoilers for the ending of the 6th part:! Mindfuck.
In general i enjoyed part 5 more than 6. I can see that people appreciate Steel Ball Run a lot, is it that good?
Steel Ball Run is simply amazing. As has been said, it seems almost like an accumulation of all of Araki's skill. Some of the best art is in that part, the best story is in that part, there are amazing stands in the part, the characters are more interesting than ever. I could go on.

Don't worry. After part 3 the battles get far more entertaining, which makes the episodic nature of it less painful. Furthermore, now that the storyline pretty much dropped off for part 3, every part will move upward from that point. Part 4 has a rather lazy pace, but it's second half is very compelling. Part 5 improves more on that, and by part 6 the story is hardly even episodic any more. Outside of one stretch of the part, the most of it is story driven. Part 7 then transcends everything before it. It has a storyline even better than the first 2 parts, with the lengths of the parts that came after them. I can respect a sory with brevity, and that's one reason why part 2 is my second favorite, but Steel Ball Run trumps it in almost every way.
-
The anime really stepped it up with Part 2 so far.
-
Hey, could someone look this over for me? It's a few pages from a recent Jojolion chapter.
! You see, when Yasuho is developing her stand, this is the first we see of it.
!
And this is it's further developed state
! >!My question is, what happened to the protrusions on either side of the neck that were in the first frame?

That must the stand's hair, it just wasn't obscured by the security guys' shadows like it was in second page.
It looks thicker and more 'solid' yeah but there's no other explanation. -
Ugh. I'm having such a hard time getting through Part 6. I feel it's going by extremely slow. Did anyone else feel this way?
-

Yes, indeed. The start wasn't very gripping at first, and the stretch that revolved around "Survivor" was very dull the first time through. Part 6 would be my least favorite, if not for Phantom Blood.
-
I disagree, but to each their own. I felt it was a breath of fresh air after part 5.
-
I disagree, but to each their own. I felt it was a breath of fresh air after part 5.
It was different, that's for sure. The last fourth or so is pretty good, and the majority of it looks better the second time through. Still, wouldn't you admit that all of the fights from "Survivor" up until "Sky High" were rather…lacking?
-
I don't remember very clearly but they probably were. Even so, the fact that I actually cared about what was going to happen next makes it better than Vento Aureo in my book.
-
The climax was heart pounding, that's true. I wasn't attached as much as I was shocked by the result. But that's just me. It's rather hard for me to become genuinely invested in any character's struggles.
-
I found it kinda hard to enjoy part 6, mainly due to the lack of a solid cast of characters.. In Part 4 you have Josuke and his gang, in Part 5 there was a mafia gang, but in part 6..i dunno, it was mainly about Jolyne, and two or three characters that had a little screen time. It had a very fullfilling ending though
-
I think there's a few good fights in Part 6. The fights against Jumpin' Jack Flash, Marilyn Manson, Sky High (at least in concept), Bohemian Rhapsody, and Underworld were alright. Jail House Rock was a pretty interesting concept too. Stone Ocean is one of the weaker parts of JoJo but there are some redeemable aspects within it.
I really hated the Survivor and Dragon's Dream stuff though.

Was Marilyn Manson the "debt collector" stand? Because that was pretty horrifying. Mirashon was just as psycho as the Terence D'Arby.
