About the Capcom game above, they LOVE Jojo.
At the beginning of Resident Evil 2, when you find the wounded cop, the name plate on the locker he's resting on reads "Jojo" and the same thing is in the dog kennel, above one of the cages.

-Ibuki changes into Chaka with the Anbius sword for a super move.

And of course SNK has Benimaru because of Polnareff. Maybe Jotaro's getup up inspired the schoolboy theme of Kyo?

I also finished part four recently and must say that it kicks some major ass. I love all of the musical referances, especially to queen. That last fight kicked ass. I just wish they would animate the series.
I just started the series about a week ago, and I'm in the middle of Part II. I was pretty glad when Part I ended (though I'd feel better if I didn't know that goddamn Dio would be back), and Part Ii is awesome. I can honestly say that Joeseph beats the hell out of Jonathan.

Joseph: I'll leave this guy tied to a cactus in the middle of a desert! Haha!
Joseph's character really reminds me of Kinnikuman. And I like his ingenuity and use of weapons.
And these stupid "men in the stone columns" are pissing me off, though ACDC is dead (where I am).

How can I like him? He's a total asswipe! It's a good trait for a good villain, but I don't really like him.
The only thing I said I didn't like was Dio (which is more because of his personality), so..
you also mentioned the men in the column as one of the things that annoyed you but they dont show up again. Im just saying be prepared for more of dio and his offspring in the future of jojo. Im sure youll love everything else
Yeah, the men in the columns (Cars?, ACDC, and Wham) I don't like just because their jerks. And the fruity poses they do all the time are weird.
jojo is FILLED with poses like that. The jojo's and their comrades do that shit all the time. That is one of Araki's trademarks.
Dio was just a jerk in the beginning, but it seems like he gets a lot cooler after he comes back. On the ship he was all "wait jonotan we belong 2gever!1!!!" And in Part III he was a worldy villain.
The stone column guys weren't all that great as characters, but I still liked something about them.

Yeah Joseph is cooler and you're right about him being like Kinnikuman (I thought I was the only one) I didn't like the men in the stone either, but don't worry they're not around much longer (their names aren't really subtle ^_^).
I'm currently on Part III. Its pretty good. Jotaro's a pretty cool character.
part three is still the best part i have read but part four is very close behind it.
I finished Part II earlier today. I read through several volumes in a single sitting, I just couldn't put it down. I was pretty annoyed when Cars or whatever turned into "WOAH SUPER JESUS" but it turns out that the fate he got was worse than being killed. So everyone wins.
And I just started Part III…. I want tio read more, but I think I should call it a day. I mean, I went through parts I and II in a week.
The pop culture references always make me laugh my ass off. The fact that one of the ANCIENT STONE MEN was named ACDC... hahaha.

Personally I think part 3 is quite overrated, I like part 2 and 4 more.
Josef kicks ass in part 2-3 though, easily my favorite JoJo.

Not only video games were inspired to but many manga out today are types of Jojo tributes. For instance, the popular shojo team CLAMP (X/1999, Cardcaptor Sakura, xxxHOLiC) has drawn Jotaro w/ Star Platinum in the background of a bunch of their pictures. Yu-Gi-Oh!'s entire outfit was inspired by Jotaro's (Billowing school uniform with chains, big belts, and many straps). Even the complete series of Shaman King is kind of a nod to Jojo…replacing stands with ghosts. Those are only the tip of the iceburg as well.
The "fruity poses" thing that Cap'n Carter mentioned is kinda Hirohiko Araki's trademark. He calls it "Dynamic Posing" and even though I am a HUGE fan of the series...yes, they are kinda weird. If you think that the Joseph Story's poses look weird, wait til you get to the Giorno Storyline. Not only do the poses look vaguely queer...but the charchters kinda do too. Araki's charchters fashion is kind of a Mod style mixed with a Glam Rock style with a hint of Hip Hop Culture. It's pretty cool looking in some situations (Like Jotaro and Dio's clothes in the Jotaro Storyline) and then downright creepy in some too (Like Giorno and his skin tight spandex type suit covered in hearts in the Giorno Storyline) You'll get used to it as you read on further into the series.

Well, I don't mind the poses when other characters do them. The Men in the Columns weirded me out, probably because they'd bend their spines in zany ways and they'd be wearing these skimpy boytoy clothes.
So far i like Part III, the Stand stuff is pretty interesting. Joseph looks awesome as an old man, I hope he gets plenty of action.

Yeah, the spine bends thing and the skimpy clothes that the Ultamite Lifeforms did kinda weirded me out too. I think that Araki (much like Togashi Yoshihiro) though he isn't gay, does a lot of gay and yaoi resembling aspects in his mangas, sometimes drawing some of the toughest charachters in compromising poses and costumes (Also much like Togashi, who has Drawn Yusuke, Hiei, Kurama and Kuwabara in Yu Yu in a kinda Bishonen style before) This can be evidenced by some of the pics with charachters lips being bright colored and such. He even did a yaoi type one shot not to long after the Jolyne Kujo Story was done (right before SBR came out)In mid-2003, after the end of JoJo Part 6, Araki did a brief one shot story for ULTRA JUMP magazine set in America, in San Jose's Winchester Mystery House. I haven't seen anything but a single ad for this series and I'm not sure of the details, but since the poster was advertised as an "okama pin-up", it may have involved gay or cross-dressing characters.

The Empress was a cool fight, but I liked Bast better.

I finished part 3 last night and am currently on part 4. They're both great, but one thing I didn't like about part 3 is how almost all of Dio's subordinates ended up begging for their lives after they lost. But its no big deal.

Part IV started slooooow for me. The brothers were cool and all, but I really didn't like Koichi, who basically splits the spotlight with Josuke. It also got slow in the middle with that Janken kid, the homeless guy, and that…..guy who shape shifts his body.

Part 4 didn't really get good until after the first two volumes for me, afterwards it kicked ass!
Check out this gag strip I found made about Jojo. This is funny as hell. It goes along with series 5 charchters Bruno Buccaiarti and Guido Mista and his stand Sex Pistols. It's in japanese but it's mostly visual comedy. If you know anything about Guido's stand than the pictures alone should make tyou get the joke. I cracked up when I seen it.

As for part 4, i agree it started slow but you have to admit it ended with a bang
i loved the last battle er… all the killer queen battles. what sucked was that he got run over at the very end... was a big let down.

I think the main villain saved the series. Josuke and Jotaro are great, but a lot of the enemies sucked.
That strip is cool. Though, it's not really in Japanese, the only things really said are "pass," "come on," and "hai."

Has anyone else got the art book set, "Jojo a Go Go!". I have it an it has some of the most killer artwork done by Araki that I've ever seen.
i just checked and that book is rather expensive, (at least on the japanese amazon) 6800 yen or 62 bucks but it looks worth it. Im jeolous, :(

yeah… the price was kind of steep for me too. i think i was in high school when it came out. i did collect all 7 of the complete dragon ball books though when they came out (1st printing). they were like $45 each and came out every other month... drained my piggy bank...

I was able to find it for $30 at my local comic shop (Jojo a Go Go! that is). I can always rely on the guys at page 3 to have awesome and rare anime stuff for cheaper thn it is on the internet.

It probobly was. It would'nt have been because of quality though because it was still sealed in the plastic in pristine condition. A damn wise purchase if I do say so myself. Am I the only person who thinks that the fashion Araki puts on his charchters is extremly cool looking (On some of the charachters…not all just some)

I was curious and had just read the first few chapters with Hol Horse so I checked this out. I think I got her to do the Chaka move (samurai dash, right?), and Ken's is where he kicks with the horse, right? It's a little tough figgering out all these damn moves without a move list (one thing I hate about Capcom fighters).
That's really cool. I'm looking for the JoJo fighting game, but to no avail. The PSX and the Dreamcast version are basically the same, right? Is there any preference you guys have to either?
the playstation version has a story mode that goes through all of the manga in part 3 and it is not all fighting, which makes it interesting and more fun than the dreamcast version. Other than that the games are virtually the same
I have the Playstation version, and the stands look very plain. I'm not sure if the DC version renders them better, or if the screenshots I saw were from the arcade version.
Dreamcast Version had beter graphics and PSX version had story mode. They treated story mode like a whole different game though and called it "Jojo's Venture", if i'm not mistaken.
The US version is also censored.
The DC version is two games. The arcade had two version, and both are on there.
The first version is called "Jojo's Venture"
The second and updated is "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure".
Which one does the PS use? I'm really interested in the differences, now.
