They're already at the Red Line. I never would of pictured it being like a wall of rock. It makes sense then that the Straw Hats have to go underwater in order to get around it.

It's been hinted that Fishman island would be underwater ever since the Log Pose was pointing downward. Makes sense it'd be under the Red line since what we saw from Reverse Mountain we know how big the landmass is. What other way could pirates get through the Red Line if Fishman Island wasn't the connecting point between the two halves of the Grand Line.
Well, I was always under the impression that Marijoi (not Marine HQ, as the places are different) was the central hub at the Red Line. Remember Norland? He sailed into the Red Line (2nd Half) and went backwards through the Red Line with the King to Jaya. It took a long time to get permission, as well.
My idea for it was a series of canals with locks that have security checks, etc…
I suppose, however, that could just be ONE of the paths on the Red Line, but the map shows 6 canals converging on the 2nd part of the Red Line (As opposed to 4 entering and one exiting at Reverse Mountain), so...
I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

Well I was speaking specifically in regards to pirates. For crews Fishman island is probably the only way to get through to the New World. I agree with you that Fishman island isn't the only option for everyone else.
I'm sure that for regular citizens, bounty hunters, etc. that there's different ways to get through. Like how the Marines use seastone at the bottom of their ships to cross Calm Belts.

Reading over the translation, many things seemed to be cleared up now: when Franky and Robin entered the Grand Line, Sengoku's dissapointment regarding Kuma's action towards Luffy, the Shark Submerge's depth problems, the fact that they may get to Raftel and be nowhere near Reverse Mountain…and the fact that Caimie is just a ditzy Sea-King meal waiting to happen.

Wow, that thing behind Lola's pirate crew looked ominous. It would be pretty funny if they ended up stuck in another horrible situation right after escaping from one.
Also, all this talk about the Straw Hats inching closer to Mariejoa is making me excited for that arc. I wonder if this was partly what Oda was referring to when he said he has big things in store for the future?
And lastly, "______________ [name of any random minor character] will join!!" must be the CURSE OF ONE PIECE. Camie's totally gonna join guys, she'll fill the crucial role of designing Nami's clothes!!! /joke

Well, a so so chapter. Not expecting anything mindblowing for a bit, especially considering how things are shaping up to be an early Skypiea clone. But if we see Hatchan again, which is highly likely, that would be awesome.
And a submarine that can't dive under twenty feet is a pretty crappy one, I must say.

Very exciting chapter. I loved the section where they see the wonders of the grand line before reaching the red line. Halfway huh? I'm filled with a sense of pride for the Strawhats and all their adventures.

I think the part with the 5 meters was just a misstranslation. But this chapter was very scary:
- The Eyes in the mist
- The unknown fate of the Rollers
- The whole thing about the SH are near Marie Joa and the Marine HQ
I really can't wait for the next chapter.

I have to say, this wasn't really that enjoyable to me this week. I really liked the needless things like "raining candy," the "Ocean Tanuki," and the "Circular Rainbow" though, since they were just a few more things we haven't seen on the Grand Line. Definitely looking forward to next chapter for some reason though. I mean, I'm glad that the gleaming eyes was just a Sea King to be honest, since it could have just been some other villain we won't see again for another 200 chapters. It was pretty enjoyable to see how after all this time, the Strawhats are finally trying to find Merman Island, after the super long wait for it. I'm really anticipating it, and next chapter should either bring more info on Camie (which to be honest, I dont really want,) Hatchi's return somehow (I would love that, but I prefer the final option,) or the Strawhats finally arriving at Merman Island at the end, with Camie's help.

I doubt it's anything relevant to the story.
Think of it as Oda's way of telling us about how many "unknown" things are still awaiting for us at the bottom of the sea.

Naah, neither's going to join for any long term period.Camie's this arc's chimney/tonjit/conis/etc character. She even has a small expressive sidekick just like chimney's gonbe, tonjit's shelly, or conis' suu. It's her job to be the Strawhat's guide to the new region, get them involved in her conflict with the arc's villain, and ultimately be saved/protected by them for the course of the arc.
If she were a serious crewmember candidate, she wouldn't have the starfish.
Hacchi is more like this arc's Lola/Paulie/Wiper/Patty. A reasonably strong character that gets beaten up by the henchmen of the arc's villain to prove just how strong they are. He lacks the skill to fight seriously alongside the crew and his dream to run the takoyaki ship doesn't gel with the strawhat's New World priorities.
So while we might pick up a crewmember in FI at somepoint, Hacchi and Camie make for unlikely candidates.
Edit: Dang… got beat to the punch.
I dont think its safe to assume each arc follows the structure, Oda might throw something new into the formula(though I have seen the trend) but it doesn't mean that I think she'll join-just thought id give my opinion
Anyway, great chapter, though it could do with a bit 'more'

Thank god for Luffy's "Ace can handle his own problems" attitude! I did not want another friggin rescue arc!
The new mermaid chick looks cute and I enjoyed a girl finally getting some of OP's trademark character quirks.
I'm thinkig she keeps pet squids and calls them takoyaki instead of cooks them or something. The whole moment was just funny and odd @ the end. I defintely hope they do pick up this girl or some other mermaid chick even tho I dread Sanji freaking out this entire arc over pretty girls with fins. -
The build up to this arc is similar to Jaya and Skypiea. They're my favorite two. So it looks promising.
So as soon as the Straw Hats finish their adventures in Merman Island, I'm pretty sure they'll bump into another admiral. Akainu maybe? Or another Shichibukai. Kuma again? Something big will happen to start off their New World adventure.
I have a feeling this arc will be as epic as Jaya.

Anyone notice how confident Usopp's getting? All those seakings and instead of freaking out, he makes an observance of how they're tiny compared to Odr. That's really gotta speak something about his character.

Perhaps, besides Usopp becoming more confident, this Chapter also hinted that we saw the LAST of Pistol back at Thriller Bark.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Luffy began to use Rifle as his standard punch.
