I think most people would say Smoker, because he doesn't exactly follow the World Government and stood up for Luffy in Alabasta….sort of.

I would think it would be Buggy or Mr 2. if he broke out of Impel Down.

Wait, what about Robin? Heck, from the first time we see her post-Whiskey Peak, she seems extremely loyal to Crocodile…then low and behold when she joins the crew, its just a complete shock. But I guess this is more about a pure creep becoming good ala Piccolo...of which I can't really think of at the moment. Maybe one could more become an ally instead of a permanent member (Smoker's the best bet there) but that's about it.

To be fair, none of the characters were are suggesting are out and out "villans" as Piccolo was.

Smoker and etc. are decent people because after all, they are the marines (typically viewed as the good guys). Yes, I know there are some bad marines, but I'm not suggesting them.

We would need some really bad marine (like Purin Purin) or some former Pirate villain (Bellamy, Crocodile) for it to really be an "enemy" like Piccolo

Vivi was so bungling that she didn't even count. Yes. I said it, you can look at other villans throughout the series, like Helmeppo, no one actually took him seriously. Zoro and Luffy didn't even recognize him.

Wiper? I NEVER saw him as an enemy, just a duechbag ally. Like Sasuke. Now granted, I started reading after that point, so I might not have had time to consider that possibility, but Wiper never struck me as a villian. Even when he was fighting Luffy, cause it was like the Luffy vs Zoro in Whiskey Peak

I think smoker will feld the marines, but not to be a pirate, he'll be a revelutionnary, under dragon's order. I mean in logue town smoker talker to dragon and it's seems he doesn't consider him like a bad guy, they seems to have the same kind of sens of justice…

So I beleive that we'll see smoker again, soon... but under dragon's order, and it'll be thanks to him luffy'll meet his father...

Enemies, yes, but I can't really call any of them a big anti-hero like Picollo in Dragon Ball. Those would be people like Buggy, Kuro, Don Krieg, Arlong, Crocodile, Eneru, Spandam, Moria, Blackbeard, … Robin and Vivi were mere underlings, and even though Franky was the head of the Franky Family, he had to share his arc with CP9, so he couldn't be called a major villain either.

Franky was more a nuisance than anything else. He did befriend Usopp even after the Franky Family pummeled him.

I know, but I mean at FIRST GLANCE.

At first glance, Franky appeared to be a straight up villain. Same with Vivi and Wiper. (the moment they appeared)

I can't say Robin though, because the moment she appeared she gave them the "killed" Igaram, and gave them the Eternal Pose
(so it was just more of a "wtf"..?)

Franky was more a nuisance than anything else.

When we first saw him, he destroyed Ussop and stole his money. How much more of a villan could he have been made out to be?

The thing about having an enemy we already know join the crew… is that it would have to be really really significant. This is why I don't see someone like Absolom joining. He was just a pawn.
It would have to be someone who is in the over-arching storyline. Smoker, Mr. 2, and Buggy( and others I'm sure) fit into this category. However, it would take quite a strange turn of events to cause Smoker to join. It just seems that if smoker joined the strawhats he wouldn't be smoker anymore.
Out of these three this leaves Buggy and Mr. 2. I think lots of Buggy's former appearences revolved around him being in command, so he seems unlikely to me as well. Overall I think Mr. 2 could join, but I don't get the feeling he will.

it's too bad none of the crew members have a son for the villan to take under their wing a la Piccolo, But perhaps if their was a situation with a common enemy there'd be a chance. I'd like to see Buggy end up helping them out, he's been cool from the very start. It'd be cool to see him act the way he did with Shanks as a kid, only with Luffy.

And i'm just gunna throw this out there, not expecting much from it, but i would also like to see Foxy come back, but only cuz i loved the Davy Back arc

I think that Mohji should join. I don't think that Smoker could join because he is just too BIG:D In my opinion he should be a Marine to the end but help SH in Raftel, like Tashigi in Alabasta.
