Hey, I just wanted to know if anybody is truly devoted to one piece that they buy the japanese books as a collection. I do, and I am slowly catching up, but just wanted to see if anybody else is collecting too. Also, if you do, please say what volume you are on.

I have two japanese volumes, but that's it
I buy them only to scan them. I prefer seeing them on my computer.
I have the databooks, 10th Treasures, Grand Paper Adventure, the Movie Seven Book, and a few volumes…But they're all bindless and lying on my desk as a pile of loose papers.
Once I'm…not dirt poor, I'm going to start collecting them. I have Volumes 42 and 43 as well as the Red and Blue databooks, they were gifts from a friend who went to Japan.

well yea I have up to volume 36 and getting them in sets of 4 or 5 every few months.

I've yet to actually buy any of the One Piece manga, Japanese or English. (I know, I suck.) However Local-chan did gift me the Japanese Volume 35, and as of current that is still all the OP manga I own. I plan to eventually start buying the Japanese manga (I think I'll pass on Viz's releases for now, especially with FUNi now you don't know if they'll go back to normal terms like Zoro and start re-releasing again), but not for awhile, cause two volumes with the amount of shipping I hear these sites charge will be the same price as a P.O.P. which I'm currently collecting.

About six volumes of the Japanese manga. I didn't want it get outta control again like my having to have all 42 volumes of Dragonball…(only for the kanzenban to come out like a year later) But seriously, I do like having things in book format, I enjoy reading the original dialog, and I admire Oda's artwork to death so I can definitely see myself buying a couple more before I'm through. I can't blame people for not buying them though, what's the point of a comic you can't even read? Even for collection purposes.

I own none of the Japanese manga, sadly. Two main reasons: I'm spoiled by reading the scanlations every week. So I'm all caught up. And I'm buying the Viz releases, which I'm fine with. (Yes, I know they contain 4Kids terms, no cursing, and the occasional "odd" translation like Neptunians.)

well, yeah, I always thought thatitf you get this collection and cant read japanese then this is just a collection. BUT, if you actually go to college and study japanese for pleasure, then the collection is well worth it.
I do buy them. I dont have them all yet, but pretty much already. Fanart section itself is a golden thing to have. And Odas art on the inside of covers.

I can't blame people for not buying them though, what's the point of a comic you can't even read? Even for collection purposes.
I have all but four of them, even though I can't read 'em. And all of the Viz as well. The reason why I collect the tankos is because the art is so much better in them than in scans, or in Viz. In the tankos, you see the art as Oda intended it to be seen – none of the little details (the things I like best about the story) are lost. Also, the lines are clear and sharp. And, as Alina said, there's extras like SBS and inside cover art, and of course the occasional hilarious pandaman cameo on the actual cover of the book, hidden beneath the dust jacket!
I collect the Viz for easy off-line reference and to show my support in an official, tangible way, for the attempt to bring, and keep, OP stateside. I figure that if they don't get enough support, they might drop the series, and I don't want to see that happen.
I'm lucky though -- I've got Kino bookstore within a day's drive, so I can get my OP tanko fix for $5 a piece and no additional shipping fees.

Does anyone (Spanish) have any experience with PlanetaDeAgostini? They are pretty quick for what I've seen. I think their last release was volume 39.
