D probably doesn't stand for anything, it could be alluded to people with one name, like Cher, or Madonna. It's just 'D'.

Nico Robin knows, but she hasn't told anyone yet.
Just recently, in Chapter 392 of the Manga, she asked a Giant, Jaguar D Saul, what the D meant, but he didn't have a clue, he just knew that everyone in his family had that in their name.
It's a mystery, really, but it's speculation that it's related to the ancient kingdom the Gorosei destroyed at the end of the lost 100 years of history.
I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

Yet another baseless assumption. There is absolutely no hint anywhere in the story that she has the slightest idea about it.
It would really be a good thing if you could include a "I think" in your statements because giving assumptions the syntax of a fact is exactly how annoying rumors like Daz´ bounty or the second DF replaces the first start spreading around the net.

well, a thread asking what the D stands for pops up very often, is'nt it? i'll go with Dick. i think they all have incredible dicks:
-luffy is rubber
-ace is on fire
-sauro is a giant
-blackbeard is kinda big, too
-etc. -

it doesn't mean she knows what it means. What it means is that she has encounteed people who carry the name of D and they are always up for a fight. Just because she's had contact with Ds in the past doesn't mean she automatically know their name.
I've sat on a bus next to someone before but doesn't mean I know everything about them..
why do you use the bus..those that carry a Nokia?

That is a mere assumption that she knows that. Although I admit that it could be a possibility,there is no evidence suggesting that she knows what the D means. For all we know, it could be something to do with Saul and the Buster Call as to why she says that, but that is pure assumption

I guess you´re the only one this reads that statement that way. That statement does at no point indicate that she knows what D. stands for. It only indicates that Luffy isn´t the first person with that initial she met. And having Saul in her flashback is the backup for that.
Everything else is pure assumption. She does at no point say that she knows it.

my donuts is on D being DREAM or DESTINY. of course, these have been pointed out over and over, but if oda's going to say something about the D, then it will likely be one of the two. these aren't people related by blood or anything, but these are people who share a DESTINY. the same destiny gold roger once had.
think dragonball. gold roger has a dream and a destiny. after he died, his dream and destiny is passed on to a bunch of people. them being teach, ace, and luffy. (am i missing anyone?)

My guess is that either D doesn't really stand for anything but is a representation of something or that Oda will wow us with something completely unexpected by anyone.

Some fan translation really screw that up. Someone in Wikipedia puts that name but I correct to to "Marshell D. Blackbeard"

yeahh… its true.. i got most of my scanlations from the msn group... so i got that translations... the i dont like most was Nefertari Vivi's name... the translated it to sumthing2 Bibi.. :mellow:; and shorten it to BB...

well of course luffy would know who whitebeard is since he is the most powerful pirate in the world. i doubt there is many in the one piece world that does not know of whitebeard.
