I just finished the movie,fucking SPECTACULAR movie,bravo Oda! 
whoa, this was easily the best one piece movie. It didn't feel at all crammed in the way tv show-movies usually do, I think the longer running time really helped in terms of pacing. The story had all of the great one piece elements we all love, and the music was effing sensational.
A few criticisms though:
=Neither Nami nor Robin got in any form of decent fighting, and both were stuck in damsel in distress mode, this tends to irritate me especially since Robin is supposed to be in the stronger part of the crew.
=Short fights, I know time is an issue in movies, but they could have cut back on other things .
=Stupid villains, this is probably my pet hate in one piece, villains that switch from being morons to being evil geniuses. I don't mind in the case of weaker villains like Buggy and so forth, but when the big bad of the movie keeps switching, I think it takes away from his evil. Also I found Dr indigos footsteps annoying, and I'm unsure of the purpose? Maybe it's the type of thing 10 year old boys find funny or something
On a side note - does anyone know if there is or will be an OST available for this movie?

I saw it yesterday and thought it was epic. :V I'll definitely be acquiring this film somehow (Preferably legally)

I LOVED this movie!! Everyone has said everything I wanted to say so I wont say what has already been said!
BUT THE OUTFITS!! OMG It was like I was watching a fashion show! Particularly Robin's and Sanji's outfits.
Sanji outfits were really daring, and some of the colours were really bright but it really worked, and made me really like guys in pink!!

I absolutely drooled when I saw her outfit, I loved the belt, loved that she wore tights underneath and I loved the sleeves!! [/hide]
I was a little dissapointed with Nami's outfits, loved Luffy's, Usopp's was so Usopp. Brook looked good too! Chopper was absolutely ADORABLE!!! His outfit in the beginning made me faint from cuteness!!
The comedy was excellent (Sanji and Usopp DUO FTW), the action was good (Ashera looked really good for once) and the story was sweet!
A movie I'd really like to own, and I cant wait for the director's cut!

The dance sequences with Shiki was pointless, and I didn't see the point besides entertaining the younger generation whom the movie was aimed for. Was it just me or did every villain have to have a unique and LOUD foot step in this movie. Shiki had the horrible horrible needs to be taken down a notch foot step, and Indigo had the squeaky feet that got old after the 5th time it was brought back.
I really liked the dance sequence, it was so ridiculous. Shiki, Indigo and Scarlett were great. Just this odd relationship they had. I was afraid Shiki was just going to be a serious business all the time kind of villain which he was at the end, but that was needed.
Shiki's footsteps were justified though…they were swords. Doctor Indigo's weren't needed but they were fun and suited his character.
^^The dance was awesome!!! And the animation was so smooth for that scene!

Certainly the best One Piece movie, to me. Although 6 and to an extent 4 are good as well.
Overall movie wise, it wasn't anything mind-blowing or whatnot. But it was a solid tv-series based movie. And that's all i really was asking for in the end.
Can't wait 'till FUNi dubs it. Part of me thinks it'll be soon since demand for it is so high right now… But part of me also thinks it won't since it technically takes place so far into the series (what with Franky and Brook being there already).
Imagine though... Episode 0 and Strong World, together. That'd be awesome.

I second all of Vauny's comments above and add some disappointment that we didn't get to see the Straw Hats work with the Marines like we initially thought. The movie was actually surprisingly light on story.
On the upside though, spectacular animation and amazing creature/character design. Robin has never looked cuter than in her adventure outfit and Luffy never more badass than in his suit.
I loved all the crazy animals too. I think my favorite is the one that had a scythe for a front leg. (It was a deer or something).[/hide]

Anyway…now that i've watched SW subbed twice...i'm still not sure what to think. It's really good, but it lacks something...i don't know exactly what. Or maybe i spoiled myself more than i should and it took away something.
Gotta wait for the "director's cut" before i give it my final verdict.

Oh yeah, I wanted to make a comment on Usopp's new dragon star attack. I'm a huge sucker for blue, so it was pretty awesome. Too bad we didn't really get to see what it does which is different from his flame bird.
I think the blue dragon attack yields lightning element.

Not even the best OP movie.
But it's not as simple as 'rescue someone yay'. Think about how what happened and how that mirrors past events and about the general theme (made ever-so-subtle by the title) of the film and how the very last words of the film compare.

I liked the movie (the first One Piece movie I've ever seen), but I was a bit dissapointed. I expected much more from the fights, but I loved the mafia scene and the scene where
Shiki and co. were dancing.

I just have to say this, in my opinion this movie is SUPERB. Excellent animation, music, writing+storyline(by Mr.Oda himself), and costume designs! While the fight scenes seemed to be a bit lacking in my opinion(Though Gigantic Thor Axe was awesome in itself) and it was a bit over-hyped in my taste(Even though One Piece is one of the top selling mangas in Japan) I thought it was better that the other ones. I especially love the little tribute to Ace and Whitebeard at the end of the credits, aka sort of signaling the Whitebeard War arc.
I give this movie a 8/10!
Movie was pretty sweet overall. Worth the wait.
My only gripe is that Robin didn't do much. I love Robin, but they make her look like a weak support character. In the scene with the hundreds of flunkies, I was really hoping she'd just break all their backs/necks. That would have been so perfect and awesome because Shiki had no idea who she was. Large groups of fodder are Robin's specialty!

Shiki is supposed to be a relic from the old school pirate era. He hung with Roger, Garp, Whitebeard, and such. He's the one man to escape from Impel Down and he's been hidden for 20 years. He should be a HUGE name in the world of One Piece.
But what happens in the movie? The Straw Hats come across a flying ship at random and curbstomp the guy once they get sufficiently motivated. That's it. None of that backstory meant a darn thing. Shiki might as well have just come out of nowhere for all it mattered.
Virtually all of Shiki's character development happens in the prelude. He was far more interesting there. In the movie, he was just a typical bad guy.

I really wished the movie showed Shiki's animals attacking East Blue. The opening with the attack on Marineford didn't seem very necessary.
But yeah, the movie seemed very "what if". Especially the SHs encounter with Shiki.

I guess when I asked that, I was kind of looking for some direction towards it. xD
Well I guess the difference between some random marines or pirates running into Shiki's ship and the StrawHats doing so is that Luffy's first reaction was to warn him about a storm. Others may have simply started shooting at him at which point Shiki could just fly away.
As for why he decided to pop out of nowhere after 20 years…that was his own choice. He was first spotted at a naval base at the beginning of the movie, not by the SHs.
Something I have to add… Robin and Nami are feaking hot!!! (Nami a bit more)

Finally got around to viewing the film yesterday and in my opinion it didn't live up to the hype in the slightest but I wasn't expecting it to either. The animation was superb and it left me wishing the anime had this sort of budget for every single episode, haha. The stylization of the characters, the animals, the backgrounds and landscapes were all very engaging; really made the film feel like a true One Piece movie. Story-wise it was far too cliche' and there were many illogical moments that felt unnecessary and really bogged down the feel of the movie for me.
! Nami surviving electrocution in water, Luffy conducting electricity and Zoro managing to get the cure even after blowing Dr. Indigo to hell and back just to name a few.
It's frustrating to watch a movie like this and then be reminded that in the end, One Piece is aimed for a younger generation in Japan. Sometimes I wish Oda could break away from this boundary and do something really adult, emotionally stable and unique with One Piece. I think this is why I still enjoy "Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island" the most out of the films. It was dark and emotionally involved. "Strong World" felt cliche' and lacked anything new or unexpected. I can understand why some will walk away from this film thinking that it's Oda's homage to One Piece and the reason it's so cliche (and another typical Nami gets kidnapped story) is because he wanted to embody the "soul of One Piece". I didn't feel this at all.
Overall I really enjoyed it though and had a great time watching (streamed it from my PS3 to my tv and had a blast). It easily gets third place on my favorite One Piece films, right behind "Dead End Adventure" and "Baron Omatsuri".
I saw this two days ago. The first part with them fighting the animals was fun and adventurous. As well as Shiki with his dance. I think that they made the villains too weak though. I know they have time restraints, but Zoro could have at least dodged the chemicle ball instead of tanking it with no damage. The plot also really reminded me of the Arlong arc. I also didn't understand Nami's message, You can't beat him, so come save me. I also thought that Chopper was going to cure the animals. It was a pretty good movie, for I didn't expect it to live up to the hype.
Wow. Well, it's definitely my favorite One Piece movie so far! Now I just wish there was a better sub. However, I found that the bad subbing actually added its own element of hilarity to the movie: One of the best lines was "Do not take the Piss!"
I HATED the fact that Robin was so weak in this movie, and the fact that Dr Indigo's boots farted whenever he walked. I did like, however the fight sequences and the Gang Shootout - though I don't know how they all produced perfect Italian Suits in such a short amount of time. It had a lot of strong Luffy-Nami :wub: undertones - though that's not necessarily a bad thing.
I like how Chopper said "You're too slow!!"
