still no sign of pirate version yet???
-
There probably won't be for ages..
and on an unrelated topic I notice there are 2 Blackhair shanks??
-
Its amazing how there can be almost 3000 posts in this topic and yet nobody has even seen the Strong world movie.
The hype for this film is crazy, how has there not even been a cam version yet? -
I agree, it was released in December, and sure "STRONG WORLD's" don't grow on trees,
but there' not even a STRONG WORLD HD trailer out there, nevermind a raw or whatever.Ah well, just hafta keep a waitin' patiently …

and greg even wrote a huge essay about it :o -

and greg even wrote a huge essay about it :oSorry, but the thread is too massive for me to read all of it.
I'm just wondering why there hasn't been a cam copy to hit the web yet.
All major films usually get a couple of cam rips (usually crappy quality) or if we're very lucky a leaked DVD screener (very rarely).
Yet One Piece has had neither. -
I don't understand why they don't release the movie worldwide. I am quite sure that a limited release would be quite succesful. I know I sure as hell would pay to see it

Can I have a link please ? -
I'd like to read that.
Can I have a link please ?It's on pg 98 of the thread, Greg did a wonderful overview of Strong World and kept all the spoilers under tags (just in case you didn't want to be spoiled).
I have a question… When was the limited release of the Ch.0 dvd suppose to come out again? That should be on the web pretty soon, correct? I really really want to see Ch. 0 animated sooooo bad!!
-
Wait, they're animating that? Awesome!
-
I had asked about that "animated chapter 0" some time ago also but seems like there's no news on that subject :/ I'm hoping to see it also but I don't think anyone knows when it will be out, let alone will it ever be made into anime now.
There was a "January release" talk but a whole month passed, so I guess it was wrong info. -

It won't come out as a separate DVD, but with the movie. Probably next month, as I said earlier.

Yet One Piece has had neither. It may surprise you but there are places in the world that are different from Russia and the United States.
Hard to believe I know.

Last I heard it was ONLY available through the mail-order campaign.

Wasn't it was said first that it's going to be released with the movie DVD? I guess I'm not updated, lol.

That's why I was hoping some guys would record it during the screening in the Berlin film festival… :ninja:
But nothing...guess we have to wait till the movie hits the chinese blackmarket for a raw! -

There you go with your crazy theories again.

[sarcasm] Hey what world do YOU live in buddy? Where I come from everyone does everything damnit! The fact that the movie is not on the net is a omen delivered to smite us thieves[/sarcasm]
Chinese Black Market FTW~

chinese black market huh?
no sign of the movie yet, as far as i know~ -
I think the best question to ask is, when is the release date for the DVD?
-
@The:

That's exactly what I think xD Hopefully it will be this month ~ Even if I don't believe it x'D
-

That's impossible. DVD release-dates are announced months in advance. Heck, go to CDJapan, and you'll see that they have preorders for DVDs coming out in May, and Strong World is not among them. Thus, the earliest possible release-date would be in June. (The 21st of June, most likely, seeing how every other OP-movie to date has come out on the 21st.)
-
Yeah, if the SW DVD was coming out even remotely soon there would be a shitload of ads in JUMP. Especially considering the pwnage of the film.
I would be shocked if it didn't have a summer release….as usual.
-
Daw… I wish it would come out a little earlier -- not like next week I mean, though.. DUH. Everyone wants it to come out soon. I mean earlier like, sometime right before A-Kon (earlier June). Then there would be some awesomely-cool con-viewing parties (even if it's just the raw). Other than that, if it DID come out around the 21st, that would still be cool, since its the day before my B-day. Best present ever.
Also, is there still NOTHING on anything 'Fanfare' related, other than that internet-only release Vegard told me about? I still think it's weird they had no normal cd single release like every OTHER OP movie theme... X/
-
A SUMMER RELEASE? Have I missed something now, I thought the movie was estimated to be released on DVD around April or something- Goddammit. More. Waiting. >: Well. it's…gonna be worth it...right... -__-

Yeah, well the April-thing was just speculation. As is the summer-release. Keep in mind that it took almost a full year for the first movie to come out on DVD, and while I doubt it'll take that long for this one, it is possible.
-

That really blows…

Sigh Right, I was beginning to wonder why there's no info yet about the DVD release. I didn't know it took so long for the others too, the first time I took interest in any OP movies was… well about when Strong World came up.
Well, one of my friends is moving to Japan in a few months, I gotta ask her for a favor now : D As soon as the DVD is out...

yea, the first one, like, how many years ago? xD
i know 7 and 8 came out the summer after they came out, i remember 7 being out in july.
im thinking summer is when we'll get this one, i mean, if we're gonna compare it to past one piece movie releases, go for more recent ones, not one from 10 years ago. xD
tho as you said, it IS possible.
-
Japanese pirates need to step up there game. reallly
-
If only OP would be produced in China…....
-
Wow.
You guys have to wait…MAYBE half a year for a movie.
Not an entire series, waiting and hoping that a company MIGHT pick it up, a movie.
Boo-freaking-hoo.
Do you realize how armadilloshit insane even considering the thought of complaining about this sounds?
In the 90's (I mean forget about the 80's) do you know how something like this would be handled IF at all?
"Goddamnit! Why aren't the pirates doing their job."
You have the ability to watch BEAUTIFUL quality subtitled episodes of one of your favorite animated series FOR FREE and from THE COMFORT OF YOUR COMPUTER ROOM mere MINUTES after the episode airs in JAPAN.
If I went back in time and told 1997-Greg that was possible, I'd punch my future self in the nuts and call the police for some weird guy rambling about crazy impossible talk.
Long gone are the days of making the journey to Chinatown in NYC and entering the basement of some seedy labyrinth to PURCHASE WITH MONEY SHITTY SHITTY SHITTY copied and recopied VHS tapes of my favorite shows.
Or how about the online plight for exceptionally rare merch? Sending a money order to some asshole you never met with high hopes that you MIGHT get a subbed VHS of Unico in your mailbox in the next two weeks.
Anime stopped being fun when I didn't have to wait for it.
Just relax and savour the wait. You'll enjoy the product all the more when it's released.

Oh wow going to Chinatown for vhs tapes brings back memories. Racks and racks of vhs tapes that were copies of copies of copies with terrible audio and video. To those that don't know (whippersnappers), when you used 2 VCRs to copy a tape it was a bit worse in quality, and the quality also got worse the more you watched/recorded it. So you can imagine what these tapes were like.
I still have Cell saga vhs tapes from those days (which only the cool people had because it took ages to dub after Freeza). That being said, I might be a bit unhappy for a 6 month wait for every episode, but 6 months for a movie is fine.
-
yea, i sadly have many vhs tapes from chinatown, nyc - mostly dbz
-
people still buy tapes from china town?
nowadays is internet era! you all can download for free~ -

Its really, REALLY strange to have seen this shift in the anime fandom since… 2003? that was about when the internet started generally being fast enough to download large things for most people, and fansubs started getting put up regularly. (and... Naruto anime. Lets face it, the Naruto anime broke some ground) People that came into the hobby more recently have no idea what it was like before that to hunt for rare 4th generation DBZ tapes. And its always wierd seeing that disconnect with people that didn't got hrough the through bootleg hunt for a couple years, or plod down to the town anime meeting, or anime cons, and dealing with whatever crap was shown, and loving it, simply because it was what was available and the only way to see it.
And of course, nothing quite tops the experiance of someone actually handing over an entire 6 tape set bootleg of Berserk... but only until the next meeting, then you have to take it back! So make your own copies while you can!
Or maybe I've just learned patience in my old age of 27. I hardly ever even go to movie theatres anymore, I just wait a couple months and get the dvd which I can see countless times. 4 or 5 months of wait time just ain't what it used to be, because I find plenty of other things to do.
-
Those were the days.
Robby where is your subbed version of strong world.
-
Robby where is your subbed version of strong world.
I sent out betamax copies to everyone that asked weeks ago.
What, didn't you get one?
-
No, I think customs must have nabbed it.
-
Now, now, Greg you sound like my granny. "In MY DAYS, we didn't have all those fast food restaurants, computers or cellphones! No playstations or fancy toys! We just played with sticks all day long, and sometimes we were lucky to-"
No, really, few months more isn't that much, though you can't deny it's irritating to those not living in Japan. But waiting makes it only better true dat.
-
In sixth grade I used to get subbed DBZ eps from a friend at school. I bought them for about $5 a tape, and they usually had a couple episodes on them. I still have the Cell saga and the Dragonball episodes somewhere at my parents' house. Jeez, that was… 1997? Something like that. It really is a nostalgic feeling to go back to those days.
-

WoooooooW! You brought it back with this one bro. I remember going to Chinatown looking for old DBZ episodes. Then I found the sweet spot on E116th Street between 3rd and Lex and also btwn 2nd and 1st, had all the VHS tapes of DB. DBZ, DBGT and a whole buncha different anime like Kenshin and Ninja Scroll….woooo the memories!
-
Yeah good old VHS days, More than 10 years ago when I was still in Africa, my bro used to record DBZ, Saint Seiya, City Hunter, etc and send them to us. and even some manga volumes; i had some of the early Db volumes but one day they sent a lot of stuff from Belgium but someone stole it at customs, I cried til now.
Anywho, I'm rumbling on…
-
Man, the mid-90's were a terrible/awesome time to be an anime/manga fan. I remember the endless hunting for episodes, manga chapters, merchandise… I think it helped to make me a patient man. I remember buying volume 30 of Dragonball for, like, $20 from a mail-order place in the back of an Animerica magazine (do they still make that?) and loving it like it was my child even though I couldn't read a word of it. It took almost a month to get it. One volume of Dragonball, shipped from one side of America to the other, took almost a month.
I think a lot of newer anime fans really take for granted the ease of getting everything a lot of the time. A lot of the teenage crowd just don't have any idea what it was like 'back in the day'... and now I feel old.
-
We don't live in the past so who gives a fuck how it was back in the days. Sorry, but that's just another cheesy whining.
I know how it was but I'm glad getting it easier now.
-

Indeed. And if we have to wait then we'll wait, because we know that it'll be worth it in the end. The only important announcement right now would be the release date of the DVD and/or BD.
