Thanks Greg! =) I really enjoyed that video, I honestly wanted to fly to japan this month just to watch this cartoon movie ..lol ..we are a true one piece fans. ^^
ONE PIECE: MOVIE 10 ~ Strong World
-
-
I have a question, is it right that japanese cinemas will show the movie with english subs on 21th december ö-ö?
…Uh, why the f*** would they do that?
-
Oda said he wouldn't do it again buuuuut I dunno. I don't think he could possibly turn away the prospect of doing at least the very last film, whatever it may be.
Actully I don't blame him. Not because of the breaks but due to the fact he was working on this, helping with the anime AND having to do the manga all at once (which keep in mind were all double spreads lately meaning alot of characters to draw). Let's face it, dude earned his break this year.
-
Is there a raw ? for the movie..
-
Is there a raw ? for the movie..
No. And there won't be for several months. We're gonna have to wait for the DVD to come out.
-
@Vegard:
No. And there won't be for several months. We're gonna have to wait for the DVD to come out.
Damnit!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if it would be possible for cinemas in foreign countries to show the movie

I wonder if it would be possible for cinemas in foreign countries to show the movie
Possible? Of course. Likely? Eh, not really.
-
wat. there is no piracy in japan? noone to tape the movie in there?
-
So nothing said about if this is canon stuff or just a what if story and Shiki will never ever be mentioned again in the manga after being it twice…
-
so how much movie 10 made so far?
-
@Mark:
so how much movie 10 made so far?
We'll probably find out before the end of the week, very well though. I think that's safe to say.
-
@Vegard:
…Uh, why the f*** would they do that?
Hm, I don't really know, but I thought I read something like that >3>
Even if they would, I couldn't go to japan and watch it x'D Ehh I only wanna see this movie, sounds sooo awesome ^~^ -
wat. there is no piracy in japan? noone to tape the movie in there?
Not many people are willing to spend a decade in jail for some children's cartoon.
-
Not many people are willing to spend a decade in jail for some children's cartoon.
oh please, people get away with bootlegging all the time.
the worst a bootlegger gets is 1-2 years in jails anyways.
-
Not in Japan they do.
-
I wonder if it would be possible for cinemas in foreign countries to show the movie
@Vegard:
Possible? Of course. Likely? Eh, not really.
As far as I know, most East Asian countries/area like Taiwan, Korea, HongKong have already pickup the film just like all other anime/japanese movies. I know for sure that the release date in Taiwan is 2/12/2010, too bad I not going back there for vacation until April, damn!!
-
@Joe:
oh please, people get away with bootlegging all the time.

I wouldn't go for a day in jail just because I want to be "the hero of fanbase" who record a anime -_-°
-
You sure aren't a true fan.
-
As far as I'm concerned, I have no problem recording it for fans abroad.
Part of the reason I do what do at AP and my site BESIDES being an absolute nerd, is because I'll never forget the excitement of reading info straight from Japan when I was younger. Just getting a SCREENCAP from a Dragon Ball GT episode was enough to send me into a fanboy spiral of geek-out. But I also felt the fanboy stress that goes along with being a fan that lives abroad and doesn't have access to aspects of fandom.
Now of course many of those barriers have been broken what with something we simply thought IMPOSSIBLE with FREE, SUBTITLED, anime available on the INTERNET mere MOMENTS after the airing in Japan. However, there are still a lot of opportunities that really dedicated fans can miss out on and when people made them available, it was the coolest thing in the world. So long as you support the series in your home country, there's no reason we shouldn't get to enjoy the same thing as fans in its home country do regardless of whether that's its origin or not.
That's why when I make JUMP Festa or any OP-related videos or reports that have Japan-exclusive information, I don't even bother adding any Japanese to the tags or titles or plugs because they're for you.
But the second a Japanese nerd gets involved it all turns to hell because no matter how hard you try to hide the material or keep it from being popular, within 24 hours, some big-mouth posts it on 2ch and ruins it for everyone.
Japanese people that SHOULDN'T be seeing it, watch it and complain that someone video taped. Their pride for keeping exclusive material within Japan overcomes their common sense and they start spreading the material which eventually leads to someone reporting it and for stuff like the chapter, anime or other TV shows, it's usually not TOO big a deal ending in a slap on the wrist, but a movie is a big friggin' deal and I tried to avoid its spread keeping it limited but it seems there are too many Japanese guests or lurkers that don't know when to keep their mouths shut for the enjoyment of OP fans outside Japan.
Next time (if there is a next time) I'll make it an invitation-only private video and I don't care if I have to give you permission one by one, it will only be available in limited format through me for posters here.
-
how luffy will defeat shiki if he is no league in admirals currently, yet it takes 2 admiral to send shiki in prison 10 years before
do I miss something or will they fight after saving ace -
how luffy will defeat shiki if he is no league in admirals currently, yet it takes 2 admiral to send shiki in prison 10 years before
do I miss something or will they fight after saving aceIt's 20 years before, and we already know how he defeats him.
-
Well, it's been twenty years, and we know that, for instance, Whitebeard isn't quite as strong as he was back then. Also helps that Shiki isn't a Logia, and he goes out of his way to personally hurt one of Luffy's crew, which is probably his biggest Berserk Button. From what I've seen from the trailers and Greg's summary, it looks like Shiki manages to get Luffy the angriest that he's been in a long time.
-
Thank you prox.
That has bugged me from the start.
I'd like to chalk it up to age myself but…look at FREAKING RAYLEIGH.
Maybe because he's been out of practice for 20 years?
We could come up with a number of fan reasons but in the end, I don't think Luffy and Shiki's battle(s) showed any reasonable explanation or even that Shiki was winded.
! His attempt to defend against Luffy's final attack is worthless and even pitiful when compared to attacks he conjured up when he was barely serious. It was definitely forced BUT if you remind yourself that it probably isn't canon, everything is okay.
Speaking of canon.
The most definitive answer to the question of whether the events (IF THEY ARE CANON) transpired between TB and SA or not comes from the manga itself.
In 530 when Sengoku brings up Shiki in practically the same breath as Luffy's transgressions, he doesn't bring up his defeat of Shiki and in the movie, not only the Marines, but Sengoku himself is made VERY aware that Luffy is responsible for Shiki's downfall.
-
greg:
! Is it possible that shiki was, in the moment of luffys last attack, suddenly unable to think rationaly regarding the size of luffys attack, the convinction behind it and the memories of roger? I mean we saw him depressing in ID about roger dying on him.
-
We could make a number of interesting fan theories about what is possible or what he was thinking, but it's still hard to swallow, especially considering what status he's supposed to have for instance:
! If he's a legendary pirate that had brass ones big enough to go fisticuffs with Roger, even if he was a bit crazy, he should be made of tougher stuff than to go into 'deer in headlights' over someone that's a tough enemy. Especially since he was basically owning Luffy to that point aside from a few punches here and there.
Again, I'm not cutting Oda any slack because I'm watching the movie as 'Greg the Adult' not 'Greg the Elementary Schooler' which is mean of me because he made the movie for kids but…he also writes the comic for kids too and it still manages to blow me away.
I'm probably the only person who will react to the movie this way and in a short while people will probably be saying, "Greg, what were you thinking?"
I calls 'em as I sees 'em.
Also, my wife as a casual fan said it was easily her favorite OP movie that she's seen so there you have it.
-
Greg, your the best in the west
We appreciate that you remember us little people that have been waiting 2 yrs to see this movie also and just want a little taste (considering we may have wait another 6 months). Too bad the evil nerds have to ruin it -_- but then again where is our world without evil nerds?Questions:
! I was watching the trailers again and I was wondering, the scene where Nami is covered with the green bruises, she has something pushing her down (I think?), they look like bars… what the heck are those? From the description you gave us the poison practically paralyzes her so what's with these bar things?
Oh and what happened to Billy? Is he still with the crew in the end? Or does he stay with the village? -
If it's all right I'd like to repost two questions that may have gotten lost in the fold.
My first is was it ever explained why Eva, Xiao, and other people on the island had feathers growing out of their arms? Was it some side effect of Shiki's experiments, a racial trait, or just a design oddity that was never expounded upon.
My second is that I've seen a figurine for a character who was this broad man with goggles and a hunting bow on his back. Was he in the movie, or was he just something that got cut out, because I haven't heard anything about such a character from anyone who saw the movie.
-
What happened to the scene with Shiki creating a giant lion (more like just a head) out of snow? Was it cut out?
-
Wait, was there any kind of nudity for Nami? Lately this kind of stuff have increased in the anime.
I know, worst question.
-
Namimore:
! I don't recall if they were precisely explained but they're rods that Shiki basically manipulated and trapped her with when he found that she betrayed him for the last time. He left her to die by the Daft Green. Billy rescues Luffy after the final attack and brings him safely back to Sunny.
Crossword:
! Basically everything on the island could evolve faster than most of the rest of the world due to IQ and it may be due to that but the people themselves said they weren't sure why they had them. If there was a deeper explanation I missed it. Oh, but they do end up being able to fly in the end. Kinda random.
! And those muscular guys are Shiki's thugs.White Witch,
It was in there :)
XMURADX,
Nope, but there is an AWESOME scene of her pulling up low-cut shorts.
-

Nosebleeds
Gotta love Japanese ways of fanservice.
-
Crossword:
Huh, that does sound kind of random. That big guy is a mook huh? Too bad, he looked like he'd be a good opponent for Franky.
Heh, only natural that Nami retains her fanservice status here, what with running around in a bathing suit for a portion of the film, tearing her dress, and apparently sitting on Luffy's shoulders in those tiny daisy dukes while flying around on Billy.
-
I would preferred more Robin fanservice lol
-
http://mangahelpers.com/news/details/293
apparently it made 4.5 million on it's first day

Now that's some news. I don't know exactly what it means, but it's definitely news.
-
No this is news.
ADDITIONAL PRINTING OF VOLUME 0
Doesn't mean it will be available for purchase but there is a chance that more copies will be made for distribution with the film.
Don't PM me, I'm booked up to 5 people and I only have one copy and if possible I only intend to see the film once more.
Find someone REAL QUICK!
For the first time ever this does NOT seem to be some promotional bullshit they planned from the start ONLY
(and I mean ONLY)
because there isn't any listing of '1st Printing' in the back. It simply has an unnumbered release date.
But you've gotta question….WHAT IN THE BLAZES DID THEY THINK WAS GONNA HAPPEN HUH!?
-
I tried to avoid its spread keeping it limited but it seems there are too many Japanese guests or lurkers that don't know when to keep their mouths shut for the enjoyment of OP fans outside Japan.
You probably don't know about this since you try to avoid spoilers for new chapters, but in the chapter spoiler threads on 2ch they'll sometimes actually have a link to AP in the first post (or one of the first posts) of the thread. So yeah, they know about this place.
-
Nosebleeds
Gotta love Japanese ways of fanservice.
And how they came up with "nosebleeds" when that (well, not that I know of) doesn't even happen.
Well, it's better than the guy getting a boner, I guess.
-

Ninja nerds of the internet.
It's really depressing. I actually deleted the data completely. That video no longer exists in ANY form even to look back on and say, "Hyuck! Look what crazy shit I did!", because it's too frightening to think what would happen if God forbid they actually pursued it. Same thing with the original teaser I took too. In order to see my own work I have to go to some other kids' YT page -__-

You could always like…Create a new YouTube account under a few proxies and post the video on that from an internet cafe somewhere.
-
Gah, I told my dad that all I want for Christmas is to fly to Japan, see the movie, and then fly back. He laughed. Damn. Guess I'll ask my mom for Hanukkah.
-

I think it's just easier to keep it private here next time. Besides, I've deleted all the hard data. And although what you say is true, it's not reasonable for me to do that from where I live since there are no such thing as internet cafes here. And it would probably be taken down in a few days thanks to 2ch. It would be a lot more complicated than say, allowing 30 or so at a time of those who are interested in seeing it from AP to view it.
-
I woudn't want to joke around with Japan Copyright laws >_< I've heard people really can get into jail for making camrips of movies/scanning manga.
Like, in Russia, if you're making a camrip of a movie with a semi-professional camera and get caught in the cinema, worst thing they can make is make you pay, like, 100-200$ and try to get your camera or ask you to delete what you've filmed. Even some guys who are making bootleg DVDs with camrips only get their "production" taken away and pay some fees here, nothing more.
Russian OP fans are having a really hard time understanding why there's still no camrip of the movie and why it'll probably not appear at all~ -

Greg don't worry I will visit you in the cell every Saturday afternoon & I'll do my best to comfort you in the courtroom. I know a good attorney._.

Best New Member. What are you waiting for people?
Ayway, either a developing story or just a coincidence but the entertainment news and flagship Fuji TV Station have been almost dead silent about the success of the film coming out of the weekend (ie. Monday) Considering its success you think they'd be pushing it even with the two-day features they had last week. You'd think they at least put a poster on Iitomo, but no, nothing.
Just Fuji being Fuji?
Someone suggested on 2ch that perhaps someone was actually killed because of the crowds which is why they're keeping it quiet.
Hmm.
-
hi, greg~
i have watched the ending scene, regarding to luffy's final attack to shiki…got a very interesting question for you greg---
! luffy's final attack is gear 3rd and i can see during the way that giant axe kick landing on shiki was way big and slow, i mean shiki wasn't injured or anything, he could easily duck that attack by moving away, and he also can fly too~~why wouldn't he duck that kick? that should be easy to duck that massive and slow attack, don't you think?
-
http://mangahelpers.com/news/details/293
apparently it made 4.5 million on it's first day
Just to add -
It took 400 million yen from 188 cinemas beating out the recent Harry Potter movie's first day. It's one of the biggest openings for a Toei distributed movie EVER, since ''otoko tachi no yamato" (Men of Yamoto) in '05, also one of the large advance ticket sales for a Toei movie ever with 296,449 over a 6 day period.
Theatre owners have rushed to open more sessions to meet demand, with more late night sessions, and GET THIS it has already eclipsed the total gross of nearly EVERY One Piece movie to date all on one day.
JUGGERNAUT BITCH!
-
sheng fu:
! I agree. Actually we were talking about it a page back or so.
it has already eclipsed the total gross of nearly EVERY One Piece movie to date all on one day.
I attribute 40% to Oda's name and 60% to Volume 0.
You offer something like that and even people that don't give a crap about One Piece will smell blood.
-
Can anyone find out what Japan's weekend box office gross was? I want to know how Strong World compared to the movies that opened in the US over the weekend.
