a friend of mine who's really into it says it's unplayable right now because everybody moved to the new areas and it's overcrowded. man, i'll never play this game.
World of Warcraft (+Burning Crusade)

Yet you keep coming to this thread. XD
It's really not bad, you just don't go on during peak hours, which is usually Friday and Sunday evening. The game is too big with too many servers to get "crowded". They only let a certain number of people on per server. The only thing that happens is you have to wait in a queue to get into a server if there's too many people in it. So if that happens, either you go to another server or you just go do something else until you get logged in.
All the hype of the new expansion will wear down after a while. -
It's really not that bad right now. It's actually ominously quiet.
Only on Weekdays it gets particuarlly packed.
-
BLOOD ELF!
You shall feel the wrath of my level 4 Draenei Paladin!
I'd level him but I'd rather get my main to at least 60 first.
-
overcroweded?
if your computer's Framerate dips because of WOW crowds then you need to upgrade or tweak some settings
-
Yet you keep coming to this thread. XD
don't misunderstand me, i really think this game is brilliant. i know that if i start playing it my social life is over. so i just like to talk about it in order to know what's going on.
-
I MADE LEVEL 30! Now back to the boring job of quests in Shimmering Flats. Seriously, it's boring, but good and easy XP. When I came back I felt like Grif coming back to Blood Gulch(let me know if you don't get this reference) and was kinda upset, but not really.
I now, thanks to a level 61 who was very generous, have a flightpoint to each of the 3 major Goblin cities, so I can now teleport to stormwind catch a gryphon to STV down to Booty Bay(its booty-licious!) and grab a ship to Ratchet, which I can then fly over to Gadgetzan and take a short walk to Shimmering Flats.
-
So far my dwarf is 61! getting ready for my first BC instance.
Also got a dranaei hunter to 10, and a lvl 6 elflock.
One question. Zulen is that a quest or something with the axe? I must have missed it.
-
I really love Warcraft III and the expansion, but I've yet to buy World of Warcaft. The fact that Blood Elves and the Eredar/Draenei are in the expansion means I will probably buy it once I get a new computer won't explode when I play games on it.
-
I started playing with the xpac again, I have a 28 Draenei mage on Auchindoun.
-

Flee from the temptation!
I started playing with the xpac again, I have a 28 Draenei mage on Auchindoun.
How the heck did you get to level 28 that fast, that's scary.
-
Theres 30-40s in my guild. I hit lvl 20 day one, Draenei quests are incredibly easy.
-
Well, I know you level fast in the early stages, but damn. I started playing in August, and I'm still at 29. XD But then I only play like once or maybe twice a week.
-
ive been playing since release, I have 2 other 60s :)
-
@Capt:
One question. Zulen is that a quest or something with the axe? I must have missed it.
Those would be my throwing axes. I'm a rogue.
-
@Mr.:

I'd have wanted the Draenei in Frozen Throne, instead we got tiny Eredar, with tentacles on their chin, and since the lore master at Blizzard forgot Eredar corrupted Sargeras, he had Sargeras corupt them, but only 2 of their 3 leaders. Truth is, Sargeras now wouldn't be evil, because it was the Eredar that corrupted him. We should have been given the other ones. Meh, whatever, the BEs got seriously duped, their models suck I heard. My Draenei Paladin is now level 4. My Human Mage is level 31, and I desperatly want to make it to 60.
If anyone has an Alt on Khaz Modan and wants to level with me, look up Pyrgus on Khaz Modan. Alternatively if there's any horde I'll fight you if I get the time. I am mostly questing in Shimmering Flats so I'll be running around Booty Bay Ratchet and Gadgetzan alot. Booty Bay is beutiful. I wish we could buy houses or something with a nice view, when I reach level 70 and get my best gear I can get I think I'll "retire" my character there until some other invasion happens.
Am I the only one that likes the Nether Drakes only for their speed? I'd much rather have a Gryphon. Also, I was disapointed that the Gyrocoptors from Warcraft 3 wern't available, even if they were the flying equivalent to Mechanostriders I'd still want one for my dwarf or gnome. It only taunts me more that the Nether Drake flying mount video photoshopped in a Gyrocoptor.
-
Anyone have a buggy server tonight? I noticed they are doing rolling resets for all servers. I had to manually shut down the game after I died and could not rez nor log out, it was wierd.
-
I reached level 31. I'm so happy.
I saw a level 40 Draenei(with the elephant Eleckk Mount) in Gadgetzan tonight. I was pretty surprised. People with no life, like the people that study all the time and get perfect grades. No life, it's unnecessary.
-
Aah a WoW-thread :D
I have a level 63 warlock, 60 druid, 60 rogue on Twilight's Hammer (EU, Horde) and a 60 gnome warrior on Hakkar (EU).
Feel free to say hi if you see me ingame :) but it looks like all you guys play on chineese or us servers :/
-
Can someone in the US log on to a Euro server?
-
Not without tricking the game into thinking your router and IP and IP provider and such(it checks alot of stuff) is European, even then I'm pretty sure it checks to see if the copy matches.

You can expect to see me on an alt shouting "WHICH ONE OF YOU IS JHONEN?!?!??!" on a WoW server near you. I'm wetting my pants with excitement at meeting not only the creator of Invader Zim but the voice of GIR too.
Oh man it's like a real dream come true!
-
sighs I've been wanting to play this for years. The famed WoW, said to be the greatest MMO… If you guys hear of any free trials where I can at least download and play it for a few days free, lemme know.
I simply can't do $15 a month, $30 a month for internet is already pushing it.
-
There is a free trial. http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/worldofwarcraft/trial/wow_nonreg.aspx
http://www.worldofwconline.com/content/worldofwarcraft-freetrial.php
But you're better off not doing that, because then you'll be hooked and you won't be able to keep playing.ps - $30 for internet? That seems awful high, we only pay $17.99 for DSL.
BTW, tips for newbies:
-
Learn your professions right away. Particularly first aid. I didn't really understand how the point system worked, and I didn't realize that the higher level your characters gets, the harder it is to move up in skill level if you get behind. Don't let skills turn grey. Level 31 and working with heavy linen is bad. Find out exactly at what number you can get the next training.
Also, find out which primary professions benefit your race/class the most, don't pick randomly. -
Don't be afraid to explore as early as you can. When someone gives you a quest on another continent, as long as it's not red or orange, go travel. You will miss out on other lower level quests in new places.
If you enter a new area and you're not sure what the danger level is, find the first creature, and make sure it's not "???" or skull and crossbones, if it is, run away from there as fast as you can. XD
Make use of the website for information.

I am in need of a power lvler, i've done about every BIG quest in duskwood just to get to lvl 30
D:
or at least point out some EPIC quest

@--MRED--:

I don't even know where duskwood is.
Go to the Arathi Highlands, you should get a lot of XP just killing the creatures out there. And get some people together and go into Razorfen Kraul. Unless that's Horde only, I don't know.
-
I'd suggest going to Thousand Needles, south of the Barrens. It will get you 31/32, then head to Strangle Thorn Vale, near Duskwood. Which will take you to 40, with Desloace, Hillsbrad and Arathi inbetween. Scarlet Monastery grinding will also take you 32-40, if youre on a Horde infested server.
-
Stuff in Thousand Needles is pretty low level from what I've seen. Maybe some new quests opened up.
-
How long is the trial period? 30 days? I'm fine with that, usually that is about the time I lose interest in a MMO.
EDIT: Wow…10 days...that is still probably enough. If I get hooked, oh well, I'll live.
-
I thought there was one longer than 10 days? Oh well. Maybe someone will be kind and buy you a subscription or two. Some people can level all the way to 40 in just a few weeks.
-
HA! Someone buy me a subscription? No one loves me that much, not even my own Mother. XDD
-
Just get money and stop being poor welfare thief
-
Actually, we went off welfare after only a few months of using it around September last year. ^^
I'm kinda getting tired of your comments towards my money issues, Carter. I realize I make it known but I rather people know I'm poor than just some cheap ass who just wont give his money for anything.
-
(sorry for double posting)
This is bullshit. Even tho I'm doing the free-trial it still requests credit card info, it simply says you will not be billed. Well, looks like I can't do this after all.
After I went through hell downloading and installing this over the course of 5 hours aswell as deleting things inorder to get it to fit….guess that is it. My mother does not trust the internet so she will not give me her credit info.
-
Bummer. Most free trials do that to you, they hope that you'll forget to cancel before the trial ends. There could be some other trial out there, but I don't know…
ps rant on internet phobia - Internet's a lot more safe with credit cards than just walking around with them. All the trouble anyone I know has has with cards being stolen has been done in person, or actually hacking into the bank itself. Even Wells Fargo can't guarrantee someone's not going to somehow photocopy your cards and use them, it happened to my boss. The only way you're safe is to only carry cash (unless someonr robs you). Of course if someone does rip off your card, they just reinburse you and give you a new card.
Point is...paronoia profits nothing.
-
Doesn't matter if there was. This is creating an account inorder to play, doesn't matter what trial you'd still have to do this. Too bad someone doesn't have a spare account I could just login to play on.
But asking someone to make an account for me for this which they can cancel before the trial is up is too much to ask for I suppose.
-
I don't think someone can create an account for you from another computer.
-
Why wouldn't they be able to? They could just go register an account, put in my info which I'd give them, my trial veri code which is in my email, just put in their credit info. Rather the name on the credit info would conflict with my name is anyones guess but I doubt it, I mean it would basically be the same if a Mother signed her kid up with her credit.
But again, I see no problem in this beyond trust issues. Anyone who would even consider this would probably think I'd login and look at their credit info.
…wait..can I even do that? From my experience it doesn't have the credit info you put in on your account page, you can change it but you can't view what you got. Or is it different in this instance?
Cos, could you check your profile or whatever on the WoW site and confirm? If it doesn't list then it's all good. All that could go wrong is the trial overgoing causing fees but the person who does this would cancel it before that happens.
-
I don't have a profile, I play on my boyfriend's computer (which is illegal) until I can get a new computer.
I'm not sure what you're asking, but credit card numbers are always hidden, you wouldn't be able to see it anywhere.
-
Good, now it's the matter of finding someone who'd sign me up a account..
-
I don't have the file. If you want to DL the software you'd normally get off a CD, I can send you a CD key(I have 5 of them, one with a trial CD and 4 of the newer keys that say to lend the CDs to a friend) that'll let you isntall and give you a 10 day free trial.
A few tips though:
1: Exclamation marks mean they have a quest. Once you accept it, they'll have a silver ? and once you complete it(some delivery quests are isntantly completed but require you to go to comeone else) there'll be a golden ? over who you need to turn it in to. Silver ! mean you arn't high enough level but it's almost ready for you. Class quests from trainers often have this.
2: Some classes SUCK until higher levels. Mages in particular die and don't do much damage or help until level 30, from experience. Also some talent trees suck until high levels. Once again, mages(from personal experience) have an Arcane tree which is the flexibility styled tree, but it sucks for leveling, so you'll die more, do less damage than you could, and not level as fast. Basically go ice or fire if you're a mage.
3: play with friends. I play on Khaz Modan and might be able to get you into the guild I just entered if you join me. We'll help you out. I also won't make fun of you for playing that game with furry animals or whatever. I promise(your One Piece world is kinda cool though).
4: Try out some classes first. Get them to at least level 10, because this is a point where you've gotten an idea of where the class is going and what the Talent Trees look like(no character has them until 10) and it's only 2 hours if you try and have an idea of what you're doing. Play until 20 if you are unsure after 10, it gives you a very good idea of the class's abilities, and the direction it goes. Don't forget to check out racials, and ifgure out a nice combination. Humans have a mace and sword skill bonus, and Melee classes are based on weapon skills so it's helpful in a way, but they also have diplomancy which adds reputation by 10%. Helpful for various things(like cross-faction mounts).
5: Don't be afraid to say you're new, someone will help you gladly if you admit it. If the first person you meet is a jerk, don't be afraid to look for someone else who won't bully you. SOmetimes these players that like to be griefers to newbies come along.
6: Pick you're side. I'm Alliance, and I admit Horde has better PvP racials but we have more polished lands, wth slightly more involved quests, most Horde lands(intentional possibly) are just deserts and mountains, nothing really too special. If you want to play with me(on Khaz Modan US server) then make an Alliance character. But you're pick, if you think Trolls look cooler than anyone on Alliance side, your pick.
7: Ask people where to level, especially in the 30's.
Spekaing of that last one, THousand Needles is a great place to go at level 30 or so, but it's best to be a bit higher. Quests there brought be easily to 32, and the quests actually outleveled me. It seems to place you in a position to return to Stranglethorn.
Also once over by tohusand needles, make the run to gadgetzan and ratchet for flight points, and from ratchet go ahead and take the ship to Booty Bay. the FLight Points are connected well(Darnassus, some other palce near Darnassus I have, Theremore, ratchet and gadget are all connected, as are the humans lands and Booty Bay.)
-
^ Thanks man, but my problem is I have to make an account inorder to login and even play, but it asks for credit card info which I don't have. So I simply can't play.
-
I played this game for over 2 years now, quit in December since the guild was stuck on 4 horsemen, and could never get through. Feels good to be free from the game, hehe. On a side note…how is the BC for those who play? (I'll post some pics of the 4H if anyone wants to see them)(lol nvm, once i uninstalled the game, the pics wont work anymore, never moved em out of the folder in the first place)
but hey, for everyone who has played, i bet you've seen this...!
-
Wow I spent so long typing I MISSED all that.
I'll be honest: Credit Cards over the internet is safe. THe only unsafe thing is sites that don't have security measures(those small companies that an't afford much but run an itnernet business) and the scam ones that their only purpose is to get that info. And the first one is only a problem if they get hacked.
I'd call up your mom and tell her she's more likely to get in a car crash, have her home robbed and get helpd up at gunpoint by a guy with a pistol and a knife and have her cards stolen than putting it in over the internet, especially on an established site like WoW's. Blizzard(as you can imagine base don number of players/accounts and subscription prices) can afford not only good security, but one of the safer sites, and even if they didn't care about losing the info it'd be bad from a business ponit of view, noone will be their customer if they let people steal thier info.
And before anyone asks, no, I will NOT give out any personal info like Credit Cards. Not only will I not do that, but last time I paid for someone's account they were a jerk. Doubt anyone's asking anyways.
Meet me on Khaz Modan and I'll run you through whatever you want and get you to level 15 in a few hours, no problem.
Let us know how this "unfolds" ok? I'll help it I can, but not much I can do. Try calling Blizzard tomorrow and tell them you can't supply a Credit Card.
-
I'm not even gonna try man, I've told that story to my Mom before, she wont buy it. Oh well, it was a nice thought. Thanks a lot man.
EDIT: I tried, I told her how it is a free trial that it is only 10 days so there is no catch and if I cancel it on like day 8 we wont be charged. I gave her the entire speech that it is safe and secure and all that. She wont do it, her exact words were "I'm not doing that, I'm not giving my info to that." so I give up. She's in her mid 50's and all she does is watch the news with identify theft bull so she is too stubborn.
Yet if there was something she needed and could only do online she'd do it.
-
Wow, sounds like the type of person I can't stand: The ignorant person.
ways to see an ignorant person:
They won't listen, even with proof right in fornt of them, deciding to believe what they previously heard.
Listen to every word of the news, usually not once considering they are exagerrating just enough to get better ratings but make it beleivable and within legal limits of lies. This especially goes for people that beleive every single word they say, and usually end up using it in arguments. "But they said it in the news" so of course, it has to be the perfect story reported exactly with more facts than anyone else, right?
They get annoying with their ideas that really are outdated and not true, and everyone but ignorant people know it.
If you're in a group, and you know you're right(THe apple IS res, just because it has a small yellow spot doesn't mean it's a yellow-red apple, and you're right) and everyone disagrees with different proof, going double for when the proof actually proves your point, but they think it goes for theirs, they are all ignorant.
Tell her, since the Internet has billions of people online at one time, at least 100 people are forming a mob against her. Or jsut remind her the TV stations make money from ratings, so the news isn't really true. Those "how to protect your identity" stories are just fillers for when they don't have anything and want eyes glued to the TV screens during low rating hours.
-
This is his MOM. Not just some person. You don't go lecture your mom when you're a teenager, it's a bad idea. The unfortunate reality of the situation is that the best thing for him to do is just give up and search for another option.
-
Actually, I can lecture my Mother. I'm not limited by her but if she gets really pissed off she'll pull the entire "Don't you dare yell at me!"
Once at Wal-Mart a employee thought were were brother and sister with how we were carrying on. Which disturbs me cause I look 14 (and I'm 16) and she looks 40 (she's like 52 or 53).
But she wont listen no matter what I tell her. So yeah my only option is someone signing me up an account then giving me the username and password to it and then they can cancel it before the 10 days are up, or I'm shit out of luck.
-
Well I have one final(2) option(s) for you.
One still requires the Credit Card, but it's garanteed to work.
Ok here's all you have to do. Create the account, but here's what you'll tell your mom you'll do, and then do it.
Ok once the CC info is entered, enter your account and go to Account Management. Delete the subscription. It'lkl be gone from thier database and it'll never be used again. She can even watch you delete it. The 10 days will still be there. If you still like it after that(provided this works) you'll just need to run down to the local electronics store(Best Buy, Fry's might have it, Gamestop, ect) and pick up a Game Card. The game card basically is something you pay for and you put a code in and once that code is used it'll add subscription to your account and the card will be unuasable. Totally safe. All it requires is that the credit card be entered for 5 minutes tops. It'll go away, the chances of ANYTHING happening to the info where someone else gets it is basically better than the odds the universe exploded last friday.
-
Isn't there anyone else you know who has a card who would go to your house and set up an account for you, and cancel after 10 days?
