Previous Raikage passed Black Lightning jutsus to Darui?! Well, if this black lightning is not relationed to kekken genkai, why he passed this to Darui?! I know Darui isn't weak (Yet), but it's not more suitable to another raikage to use this than a ninja like Darui? Kishi giving ''good'' jutsus to wrong people AGAIN…
-
Wait…..did we just have a Hinata sighting!??!?!?
Wild Hinata sightings are rare. Hope you brought your camera.
And she still likes Naruto while he doesn't give a shit.

I had to laugh at a black ninja using a Jutsu called "Black Panther". Very subtle.

black lightning
subtle, kishi

This chapter was epic and Durai is boss. Durai is the Kakashi of the cloud. @GAG it doesn't need to be a KKG to be passed down. Look at Shikiamaru jutsu. its not KKG. It can mean only a select few have it/mastered it @onemoment i guess you hated OP war then cause it did the same damn thing. I think being from the cloud means your automatically great.

Nah, see with the war we got a bunch of scenes of the big guys doing stuff before the actual event…not that their weren't pointless side characters too. What was the point of Whitey Bay again? These ninjas are better churned out at random.
I also realize a major flaw in this chapter. There is, nearly no action. We have people about to fight, people finished with fighting, and people standing amongst people who are fighting just off panel, but little actual fighting. Everyone is standing around doing nothing and Kishi's art style doesn't help. However, the black lightning is an exception.
-
First thing that popped in my head when I saw that black panther other than that chapter was ok.
WFY2kJ96jNY -
Wow.
I REALLY don't care about any of these characters. Every few pages was a some weird design, minor character, one panel of someone I know, then some nobody getting too much screen time.
I also just realized that in the last few characters Gai and Rock Lee were in the fight with the Seven Swordsman, yet got no screen time. I am pissed beyond belief.
Same here.
I was like "why does Kishi spend half a chapter about a bunch of old geezers feudal lords we don't know or care about". Where are Lee and Gai ?

This may have already been brought up before, but…

@onemoment I have no clue what your first paragraph says. WTH is a whithey bay? OP war did have chapters of fodders fighting and boss characters doing one attack or so. They did the samething. Lets not forget the Luffy runs gets beat up then saved rinse wash repeat. Kizaru shooting a small key when he could of shoot luffy head off. Even you guys were complaining about this in the OP chapter thread. It did havbe it's moments through, battle plans,WB death scene, Akainu speech to failbeard, Akainu just being basassx10,Ace deth ( Even through most Op fans hated the way Oda potrayed Ace, i still liked how he saved Luffy and died smiling like his Father. I think Oda did a good job with him and just because he didn't want them to risk their life to save him doesn't make him emo), and Shanks entrance. ALso please don't pretend like Oda did some perfect war that nobody can match becuase that didn't happen. Bleach war was the worse by far(was it even a war?)
-
This chapter wasn't that bad. I'd rather see Darui fight than the horrible main characters and Black Zetsu was pretty cool.
-
Decent chapter I guess, even if the white Zetsus only on panel offensive action still just consists of buttraping Neji.
But boy, since this is the likely to be the last hurrah for the series I sure am glad that Kishis giving the long neglected rookie 9 some good final moments, and not just showcases some new characters from part 2 noone gives a shit about. I nkow it's easier to use new guys with unknown powers, because you can just whip out any jutsu you think of rather than write new applications for the old guys, but Kishis doesn't seem to be going that way.
Green Lean incest machine
-
meh, okay chapter. I think we'd all better get to like Darui or whoever he is, because he's getting multiple fights here.
neji's dad shows up and there is no tension whatsover, which means his existence was completely pointless. likewise with some other shithole I already forgot about. And wasn't Hanzo supposed to be some sort of uber-boss? why isn't he getting any hype?
but still, nothing really objectionable. blue or green.
-
Shouldn't everyone be shitting at the sight of Salamander Hanzo? The guy who curbstomped the 3 sannin like nothing? What an underwhelming appearance he got. . .
Anyways, it didn't look that bad. At least some pannels gave me a war impression, that's more than nothing. And looks like Kishi ain't gonna drag things out unnecesarily and go straight to the point.
I still think the Zetsus are fucking boring though. And bringing zombies back to life is fucking cheap. But since that's what we got and can't do a damn thing about it. . .at least make some outrageously fun fight scenes. Go all out, Kishi.
-
Nothing spectcularly bad happened. That goes for the good too. So, with art ugly more than ever and a subtle black panther coming out from the sahdows, this chapter makes it to the Green Lean Incest Machine.
A Cloud Country spin off would be fun. Yes?

Right I'm back on AP. Homeless atm so my net access has been limited. Bit of a meh chapter but I did like the black lightning. The bit about fate and Neji's relative saying maybe this is fated or whatever was bullshit.
-
Pretty good chapter,
-
Mediocre blue. I have to second this
First thing that popped in my head when I saw that black panther other than that chapter was ok.
WFY2kJ96jNYBut other than that the chapter was ok. If kishi can manage to show a bit more actual fighting between main characters rather than just 1 panel of them launching an attack before moving on it'll be pretty decent. And to the people who said it doesnt feel like a real war durin the seven swordman battle, a couple more decent chapters and i'm throwing it in your faces.

Ok, take special notice of the "February" in the title. In the United States of America, which heritage is honored during the month of February? If you can guess correctly, the answer is why I waited so long to make this thread even though I had actually confirmed this months ago. Anyway, enough expository banter, on to the shocking new theory of 2011.
If you are aware (i.e., you've been reading the manga), you'd know that there has been a never-before-seen influx of African characters (Bee, Swordgirl, etc). Basically all of Kumogakure is black; this is a fact. Have you ever wondered, why, just why, so many coloreds have begun to appear? My conclusion is that these new developments point to Naruto himself being black. This is why Naruto and Killer Bee were able to understand each other so easily; it, in fact, had absolutely nothing to do with their inner demons, as most people believe.
Discuss the implications of this sudden revelation (for some). Make predictions, evaluate Kishimoto's previously hidden (again, for some) themes, and, above all, celebrate Naruto's African heritage!

*juju mode on @friendofluffy what was BS about the hyuuga statement?? How about you stop making BS statements rather then calling something BS. Explain further are don't talk at all. @Sanji499 Lee/Gai can't be in every chapter. Just like Mihawk wasn't in every chapter. people were complaining about "Where is Mihawk" etc…we only got like a few panels of Mihawk then he vanishes. Maybe just maybe Mihawk and Lee/Gai are fighting offpanel.
The federal lord talking about the Medals and acting like the warriors but tools is something Kishi is trying to display. Kishi talks about wars with countries throughout history in his interviews. The lords talking reminded me of this quote "A soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of colored ribbon."~Napoleon Bonaparte

Good chapter though. It's escalating nicely.

Mihawk doesn't need to be in every chapter. To me Mihawk is an alright character with an awesome design, but there are other characters in One Piece that are interesting. The two most entertaining characters on Naruto aren't shown. Getting screwed over panel-wise, to uninteresting, rehashed trite.
Hope 'juju mode' wasn't used to boost to your argumentative and analytical skills because it was ….. :getlost:

@Fezzik in went to juju mode because i wasn't going to say nice things and Your not really saying anything. First of all the hyuuga was talking about disobeying him and getting punishment. He feels he getting punishment and thinks it Fate (alla Neji thought everything was fate back then like his father now). His brother tells him that this fate doesn't exist because Neji and Hinata is fighting together. Also he only said Fate once.
Facepalm This isn't about if you think Mihawk is a great or poor character. I choosed Mihawk has an example because he popular like Lee/Gai. Gai and Lee will be shown but not in every chapter. The two most entertaining characters IYO you mean. Character polls have Sasuke/Deidara/jman/Kakashi has the most popular characters. Durai is a badass and people want to see the Kages.

Those were the days…Yes the old Naruto was a lot more likeable mostly because he was such an underdog which made it even more awesome when he managed to accomplish something (like his win against Neji). The 'child of destiny' thing was the worst Kishi could do to him because this makes all his progress look kind of half-assed because oh he was a super genius all along. Not to mention how his character was thrown out of the window when he lost that brash attitude of his in exchange of that calm brooding demeanor.
-
I like this new chapter and I find it ironic that a black guy can use black lightning.

'No brother, lookie here, my daughter and your son are best of chums now, they are even going to die in each other's arms. I have seen the error of my ways there is no such rubbish as fate'
I'm not going on about a bloody popularity contest. Lee/Gai are hardly shown in chapters period, characters with personalities which you actually give a toss about. I don't need to comment on character polls which are topped by sasuke, they pretty much speak for themselves, well, Jiraiya is dead anyway.

With the 'child of destiny' thing I will defend Naruto a little bit here and say its fallible to only fault Naruto for introducing this when Oda also done this with Luffy, being a 'D' that that inherited Roger's will is destined or will be destined to find One Piece and wage war on the world government. Its a common trope in fictional stories involving young protagonist, most notably Harry Potter. Its not really a flaw so much at merely being an idea, as much as its been executed so far.
Difference with Luffy its done better( or at least he hasn't been purported to being this savior Jesus figure nearly as much as Naruto has. Its at least executed much better and is only sporadically thrown around here and there. Unlike Naruto, its more balanced. The real problem is the author could have made it work if still kept Naruto an underdog and not recklessly end the main theme halfway through the manga.
Not to mention how his character was thrown out of the window when he lost that brash attitude of his in exchange of that calm brooding demeanor.
Agreed. The problem is Kishi that misunderstood on how to evolve a main character so much, he ended up degrading him from a energetic, human, who's goals were to be on top and have people acknowledge him to a dull, pathetic who stalks a guy so much, he faints when the mention evil he's done is enough him make him faint. Its sad.
Like Kishimoto once said though 'There's no turning back!'

As you said Luffy was never a Jesus figure and he is still far from the top even after the 2 year timeskip. We saw him getting beaten down countless times in Impel Down as well and there will be many foes to face for Luffy further down the Grandline.
Also the Will of D. is still such a mystery we cannot even safely assume that there will be any good coming of it. Heck, many of the D.'s we have been introduced to died (Ace, Gol, Saul, Rogue..and I'm sure there is more to come). That being said I never thought that D. thing put Luffy on a special pedestal if you look at the top pirates right now it's safe to say that none of them is a D. and Whitebeard wasn't one either.
What Kishi's greatest fault was however was that he introduced the idea of the destined child only towards the end of the manga. We all expected Naruto the underdog to beat his destiny and become one of the top ninjas, however with his heritage as it is now and his bloodline advantages he obviously didn't need to from the very beginning. It doesn't really help much that he also happens to have the world's biggest chakra pool at his disposal.

Seriously, what don't you understand? some people are annoyed that Lee/ Gai aren't shown enough. Lee/Gai are part of the Hidden Leaf village, closer relation to the main character, than some shichibukai who is the target of one of the Strawhats. Damn even the spin off with chibi lee was good. There shouldn't be no yet. :getlost:
Edit: To add Neji and Hinata working together shows that they are beyond that fate stuff. Hell, after naruto pwned neji and had his monologue you could tell that there was something changing in neji. I wasn't trying to be funny:getlost: I'm just telling it like it appears. If you attempt to be funny, first make the thing understandable otherwise no one will get your 'joke'.

Yeah I know my main point is that you critiqued the child of destiny element in on its self. My main point is that there's nothing wrong introducing such an element as long as its executed better so I used manga's using something similar like One Piece as an example.
Also the Will of D. is still such a mystery we cannot even safely assume that there will be any good coming of it. Heck, many of the D.'s we have been introduced to died (Ace, Gol, Saul, Rogue..and I'm sure there is more to come).
Yeah except to expose the the true history of the government and issuing rebellions. Luffy might even die a hero and then become hailed as the person who changed the world. Whitebeard did prophesied it in his death speech.
Luffy is 'the one Rogers waiting for.'That being said I never thought that D. thing put Luffy on a special pedestal if you look at the top pirates right now it's safe to say that none of them is a D. and Whitebeard wasn't one either.
With exception of Blackbeard(who has undoubtedly gotten more stronger) then yes.
What Kishi's greatest fault was however was that he introduced the idea of the destined child only towards the end of the manga. I somewhat agree but with fiction like Naruto they do tend to make this big reveal towards the end of the series, kinda when Harry Potter was revealed to be one 'destined child' to defeat Voldemort near the finisher of the like in the fifth book with only two more remaining. Plus it wasn't really towards the end of the manga maybe somewhere near the middle I beleive it was introduced first with Jiraya's dying statement which I think was in the fourth arc of the part two. If that was case then Kishi would have revealed it in this arc.
One Piece does it better.

@ Bill
To be honest I have my doubts about Blackbeard being a true D. Whitebeard noted himself that he wasn't worthy of the initial and when he was about to get killed by the old man he was scared shitless (instead of a solemn smile). It's kind of a moot point by now and I am sure that Oda will give us an explanation later on. But as things are now you are right Blackbeard is one of the world's strongest and a D. as well so I stand corrected.
