So the sixth movie comes out November 21, 2008. I'm still reading the book and hope to finish it by then.
I decided to make this thread a discussion about the book ast well for us who are still reading it. Currently at chapter 11. I can't wait to find out who the Half-Blood Prince is. I'm also curious to see how (bleep) dies in this book & movie.
I ponder how Jim Broadbent will fare as Slughorn in the movie.

Well, at least you already know that Snape, and even freakin hedwig die in the next book, so I doubt you will get any SHOCK just for finding out how Dumb a Door dies or who the prince is.
If anything, Half-Blood Prince is quite calm (in my oppinnion) when compared to The order of the phoenix.

I originally began reading it more than a year ago. Some important things (real-life related) came up so I put the book on hold. I eventually forgot about it. I just returned to reading it in recent months. And even then there were a few times where I would stop reading it for weeks. This one's had trouble catching my interest but I've heard many promises that I want to read for myself.
At this rate, you'll end up seeing the movie before you finish, lol

When it comes to confusion when not having read the book, Prisoner of Azkaban was the worst offender. Didn't even touch the identities of the Marauders. Worst movie so far, IMO.

Hey Taboo, where did you get that cool Snape Pic? In the movies he's always the best! I've read all the books, but I never thought, that Umbrdge's room in the film (No. 5) would be that pink. I'll be watching when Dumbledore dies in the next film. But I've heard that the person, who played Dumbledore in the first two films, died before the third film got shot. So he's a computer animation.(I'm not sure if I should believe it)
there are so many plot holes in the movies, the Order of the Phoenix movie was the greatest offender. it's going to be really impossible to tell the story. i mean, the Harry and Dumbledore conversation at the end never happened, so there is no real hatred of Kreacher, no explaining of the prophecy. there was no quidditch, so there was no Weasley is our King. this will be there first time in the movies that Harry meets Bill. and worst of all, they never had Lily show up in Snape's pensive (or whatever the fuck they did in the movie) so Snape's worst memory doesn't make sense thus the last movie is pointless. and now i hear Cho Chang is going to get crused instead of Katie Bell, which doesn't make any sense, because without that you don't have Dean joining the quidditch team, you don't have Ginny getting mad at Ron, you don't have Ron getting mad at Hermonie… it just doesn't make sense.

The first part is true. They got another actor. Micheal Gambon. I was iffy at first, but he seems to fit Dumbledore's more energetic moments just fine.

No, you shouldn't. It's a different actor.
I for one never really got confused from anything that was changed or left out in the movies if anybody gets annoyed or upset with that stuff being done to their favorite book to movie adaptation, they have to realize that not everything you may read in the original can be used in the exact same way as it was used in the book version.

I find it humorous how the REAL Half-Blood Prince is both mentioned and foreshadowed in the book.
Well, at least you now know that everyone, but snape (Who was strangled by Voldermort's snake) died because of the spamming capabilities of that Abra Kadevra (or whatever it was spelled) OHKO spell…..

Half blood prince was a pretty awesome book so I hope the movie lives up to it. I kind of wish they'd just make them stupidly long rather than cutting shit out. I guess sitting through a 3 hour movie is too much for people though.
I always though that Harry Potter would of benefitted better as a high-budget serialized show (animated perhaps).

The book has been out for three years. I don't think spoiler boxes are really needed here, does anyone else?
I remember waiting until midnight at a Barnes and Noble, just to get this book. The day after was filled with nothing but dissapointment as I finished it. Easily the worst of the Harry Potter books, it scarred me so bad I didn't even bother with Deathly Hollows.
Oh right, baaaaaaaaaaaaw. I might as I well say something about the damned movie. Since the actual plot was pretty thin, I'd like to say they could cut out all the romance crap and give us a decent film. But, in the real world, they'll just market it as some love story and give us long, boring scenes such as "OH WOW GINNY AND HARRY MAKE OUT AND THEN GO TO CLASS". Not looking forward to the movie at all.

One of the things that made me happy about this book was Dobby getting some spotlight. I love that little guy. I also laughed at Luna's commentary during the Quidditch match and Harry's out of control imagination about Ginny. Though I feel the romance developing between characters was a little hokey.
Another thing I don't like, as with all HP books, is that so much is going on. It's easy for me to forget certain events & characters. I almost forgot that Lupin was a werewolf until he mentioned it to Harry.

Now as much as we respect how you don't want stuff spoiled, you should know something; the series has been a victim of spoilering since the 5th book, plus you're probably one of the very few who haven't finished reading the book.
If anything you should've only ever posted here when you got to a critical point in the book and scrolled slowly thru the thread to avoid any surprise buttsecks…I mean spoiler images or the like (I myself didn't want to spoiler-ize my post here, but did it out of respect).

I decided to read the entire series in June/July (since I had put it off) and I didn't even mention i was reading it because of how bad people would spoil (and I ended up getting spoil'd anyway from a sticker on the back of a pickup truck). I certainly didn't prance around in a thread about a book that had been out for over two years now

Doesn't matter how long the book's been it. It's still a nice gesture to grant one's request if he asks not others not to spoil anything. Hell, I'm not even saying you can't say any of these things, I just want them in spoiler boxes.
