This is like the fucking basement-dwelling internet nerd version of teenage crust punx organizing protests to smash the state and create a peaceful anarchosyndicalist commune.
In other words, nothing will happen, they'll realize their actions were futile, and they'll give up. 15 years later they'll be janitors at McDonalds.
wow, what a bunch of dumb fucks….
so arrogant...........
Should've gone to the Sydney raid, if only to get close to Gas mask-chan.

Epic raid is epic.
So, did this really started online?…
hahhaha
btards .
A concentrated faggotry like none before.
Wait so that's what Anonymous meant when they threatened Scientology?
And here I thought they planned to hack their websites and post guro pics or something.
The disappointment.

Epic raid is epic.
We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand
Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it
And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see
Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
(Ooh give you up)
(Ooh give you up)
(Ooh) never gonna give, never gonna give (give you up)
(Ooh) never gonna give, never gonna give (give you up)
We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it

I find this whole ordeal fantastically amusing.
You'll likely never hear me say this in any other context, but… GO "ANONYMOUS"
How did Scientology took this little atack, anyway?…
well for a recap so far

Oh shit, there was one in Vancouver.
Seeing that "Longcat" sign makes me very glad I wasn't there though.
I love how in that pic there signs about "Scientology is evil" and "Scientology kills" and out of nowhere a "Longcat is looooooooooooong" sign
Raptor Jesus was at the Toronto one
the kid in front row fails at knowing which half of your face to cover
"L RON IS GONE BUT THE CON LIVES ON"
was an awesome slogan
fuck yeah, Dallas made the tv news
My question is:
Did no one think to protest in front of the Headquarters on Sunset Boulevard here in LA? I would have gone at the last minute if there had been one. But thus far I've only found the one in San Diego.
I'm no "Anon" person, to be frank, but for this kind of organization to be achieved by a bunch of internet slackers is certainly noteworthy. I kind of hope there's another one, so I have an excuse to get a Guy Fawkes mask.
I have my doubts about this. You can't bring the CoS down. Especially not with a group like anon.
However I'm not entirely against this. So I root for Anon. Sure I'm biased on one side, but come on! This church just seems…crazy to me.
I'm going to go to the one on March 15th if there's one near my area, if only to go wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, and holding a huge sign that says "4chan /b/", just to see the other "raider's" reactions.
Reports from "/b/-tard" friends of mine claim that the protests were actually pretty amazing. A hundred people for anything internet related is pretty shocking, and the protests managed to stay on-topic without devolving into stupid commotion. Like, whenever someone started to sing the "Bel-Air" song, people would scold that person and go back to protesting.
Frankly, news of protests across the globe impress me, though it helps I have a low opinion of /b/-tards to start with. Also, I should note ED isn't the best place to get news - it's a pretty trash ridden website. Wikipedia's Chanology article is far more interesting.
Atlanta-fag reporting in:
Had around 200 at ours, though sadly me and my girlfriend (also a /b/tard) showed up late. Thankfully, it seems to have gone well with only minor meme-talk/newfaggotry.
Riot-police got called out (but later turned out to be pretty much supportive) and some Scientologists were taking snapshots of our license plates afterward. Lulz.

i'm pretty sure there was an LA one. I remember it had one of the biggest turnouts.

i lol'd
fuck, i missed the report D8
watching people in guy fawkes masks protest "scifags" on CHANNEL 2 ACTION NEWS would've been so awesome and surreal
also i think the bel-air video is my favorite thing so far
i had no idea they'd be able to get such a huge turnout in any city, let alone all of the ones they did
To think these people could be using this outrage to protest for a more worthy cause. If they want to be taken seriously, then could drop the whole "Anonymous" 4chan thing. They remind me of all those people who rallied to support Michael Jackson when he was on trial.

because if they were themselves or any sort of traceable organization then there would totally be no reprocussions from scientology
i mean it's not like its members are known for suing or worse
nope, not at all
and i don't see how you can compare anon to people who supported michael jackson
i mean i can see the opinion of people like stephen, that they're a bunch of nerds who'll have no impact and forget about it, but i don't understand what you're getting at
This is pretty incredible/hilarious. I wonder when we'll get a reaction from TOM CRUISE
The chances are infinitely low, but it would be hilarious if this actually worked,
@Impel:
I didn't look to see if this was already posted, because I don't have to, but

Let me clarify: I know that Scientology is fucked up. Read my responses on Greg's Scientology topic! I'm happy that these people are speaking out against it. I just find the way they're doing it as silly. I guess that's the point and I missed it.
They reminded me of the pro-Michael Jackson people only on a superficial level: they're a large group of people protesting over something silly. Scientology is silly, in a very negative way. So is Michael Jackson. They're both dangerous too!
I just find the whole circumstances around this as absurd. When I see this on the news, the concept of "media circus" comes to mind. Then again, our whole media is almost nothing but one big media circus nowadays…
tbh, I don't think this was about Scientology at all, the scifags just picked a fight at the wrong time.
If you really sit down and pick at this, the whole thing is a front. Anon flexing it's muscles to see just how powerful it really is. The media sees anon as 'hackers', which is only partially true, but also very very wrong. Anon is your neighbor, the two or three kids that sat in the back of your math class, your cousin, maybe even your best friend. A really large fucking group of people from all around the world that merely act upon impulses and thoughts that people who can be identified would refrain from doing due to it being impolite.
Do you think '/b/' really cares about the people who were killed? Some might, but I think that the ends justifies the means. The mask they wear isn't guy fawkes, but one of concerned citizens to gain positive media/citizen support. They'll do what they have to do to stick it right up Tom Cruise's ass, and not because they care, because it'll be funny.
And the masks. Honestly, I think it's because it's to retain the idea of 'anonymous' IRL, but apparently that worked out well since some of them were being followed
I think someone should wear a Slowpoke mask and show up after the protest is over.

that's pretty much putting it perfectly

Get me a slowpoke mask and at least $20 bucks besides, and I guarantee that It'll happen at some point or another.

I see what you're getting at, and that's why I think this whole event is surreal.
IMHO, both the protestors and Scientologists are amusing. I can't take either of them seriously, yet I understand why they do what they're doing.
I always thought the Guy Fawkes mask was because he failed as epically as EFG usually does
A protest that….I agree with?

Agreed. It's not gonna change Scientology or suddenly clean it up, but if it does get people talking about it and aware of it, that's a good thing.
What I do really like is how Scientology leaders are pissed about the anonymous nature of the origanization. "Oh fuck! Who do we stalk!? Who do we send flyers out about!? Whose phones do we tap?"

yeah.
if they truly gave a shit about people and not about calling attention to someone the public hates/should hate (the videos remind me of the hal turner raids) purely for the lulz, there are an infinate amount of far more horrible things they could call attention to (not to say scientology isnt freaky or that it has no power or that i agree with lc that it's "silly")
scientology picked the wrong enemy, and anon picked the perfect one. there are few other institutions big enough to warrant media coverage for protesting yet not dangeous enough/without enough supporters to be a threat.
it's pretty surreal and hilarious that something like the chans (was this all /b/?) could get this much going on. and if anon actually gets some public support heaven help us in the future
i'm pretty sure all of this is far from over, too.

i love the fact that they've retaliated so far by calling them "cyber terrorists".
You know what would be really epic? If Anonymous launched an Enies Lobby-style raid on one of the Church of Scientology's bases, especially one of these two:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trementina_Base
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_Base
That would be so cool!
Damn, it would be great if the Church of Scientology went bankrupt.

Yeah I liked that line as well. It reaked of PR sensationalism with a hint of Jack Thompson.

hahaha, it does sound an awful lot like jacko, doesn't it?
i read this thing on ED that was supposed to be an oficial CoS release (i have no idea if it was legit or not) that kept alluding to nazis and comparing anon to germans
it was a little odd, to say the least.
