Worst Album From Your Favorite Band

I thought it might be interesting to see what albums by your favorite bands you think are terrible or their worst work, or, if you can't think of an album, their worst song. So, list away.

Yes-Big Generator is without a doubt the most boring Yes album, it just really lacked…Yes-ness or whatever. The jury's still out on Tales from Topographic Oceans for me, I can't decide whether it's incredibly amazing or too overwrought.

Rush-Signals is, again, just sort of boring and lifeless, especially by Rush's standards.

David Bowie-Never Let Me Down had some decent tracks (especially Glass Spider), but was otherwise subpar. Tin Machine was just barely mediocre.

I think I don't like the 80s.

Cochise

Probably the White album by the Beatles. Its bad compared to Beatles standards but musically its fantastic.

The album is so drawn out with too many forgettable songs. Just doesn't feel whole almost like they took a bunch of different songs and slapped it onto one album.

Soundtrack to Your Escape by In Flames.

Something about this album just didn't sound like the In Flames that I know. It might've been that they were trying a different approach that focused less on guitar and more on keyboard. I'm just glad they didn't continue that approach and went back to the basics with Come Clarity.

I have to agree with you there, very forgettable…although Union ( "onion"?) is a close second for me.

It is overwrought, but it has some great music on it. Too much to say it's bad. The first time I heard The Revealing Science of God in concert it nearly put me to sleep but I really like the song now.

I also agree about "The White Album" by the Beatles, it's got great songs on it but it's a weak album compared to the rest of their work, more like a compilation of songs the individual band members worked on, which isn't far from the truth.

As for other bands…

Chicago: everything after Chicago 17
Moody Blues: Octave. Never could get into it
Led Zeppelin : In Through the Out Door (they start to bore me after Houses of the Holy)
Frank Zappa: Live at the Fillmore. Yeah, I sold it…

Green Day- American Idiot
This was when Green Day started getting preachy and went goth. This was also when I lost almost all my respect for the band.

Linkin Park- Minutes to Minute
Not terrible, just my least favorite album by them. These guys changed their style, and started getting preachy in a couple of their songs as well.

3 Doors Down- Seventeen Days
It's actually a good album, but the later songs were pretty forgettable.

Disturbed- Ten Thousand Fists
These guys started getting preachy in a lot of their songs, too.

Papa Roach- Getting Away With Murder
They didn't start getting preachy (thank God), but they changed their style. SOme of the album was pretty decent, but some of their songs were really whiny, BAAAWing sounding.

Zephos

U2-Rattle and Hum: An overblown country/blues/rock tribute with some decent tracks and alot of bad covers and medicore live tracks. It was so bad it made them go into a completely different style and approach for the whole 90's after the backlash.

De La Soul-AOI Mosaic Thump: UGH, what a horrible album. They made four masterpieces than this collection of crap. There are maybe 4 ok songs out of like 16, and NO great tracks. These guys were the godfathers of alternative Hip Hop, and tehy spend way to much time here trying to sound tough.

Wu Tang Clan- Wu Tang Forever: Not a horrible album, but it was what ended thier invincible winning streak and nothing was ever the same again. So in a way that makes it thier worst moment. Every Wu album released before this is gold, about 6 times that much has been release after Forever and maybe 3 or 4 albums are anywhere near the pre Forever albums. The album itself is a failed double album. Which means an endless parade of tired sounding tracks.

Union would have been better had it been shorter, and Ritual (Nous Sommes Du Soleil) is the only song from Tales that I listen to on a regular basis, although, like you said, I certainly wouldn't call the album bad, just too much complexity for one album.

Oh, also, I didn't much like Led Zeppelin's stuff after Physical Graffiti, so Presence and In Through The Out Door, pretty lame by their standards. I also didn't understand why the song Houses of the Holy wasn't on the album of the same name.

Nothing against the more recent YUP at all, but come on, this one was just bad.

Timur Lane

Pink Floyd's, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason and The Final Cut.

Both of those albums weaknesses is that one member gets too much control over the content in the album, which the final result ends up as something thats not Pink Floyd at all (either too preachy or too poppy)

I really don't like Bad Religion's "No Substance"

Oh and Smashing Pumpkins latest album, "Zeitgeist" I think, doesn't really do it for me.
