Ani-Monday is a weekly programming block on the SCI FI Channel featuring anime. It runs on Mondays from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. ET/PT and began June 11, 2007.
Ani-Monday features a collection of movies, series, and shorts from Manga Entertainment, Starz Media's anime distribution arm, and is SCI FI's most recent move into anime programming.
SCI FI's Ani-Monday featured the premiere of Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society. Other titles included the feature film Blood: The Last Vampire.
After airing Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society, Ani-Monday's regular programming showed new series such as Tokko, Noein, and older series like Virus Buster Serge. Other animes that was aired on the channel is the first GITS movie, the Macross Plus OVA (don't know how much are there, other then the 4 that I had seen), Street Fighter II V, Highlander: Te Search for Vengeance, Karas the Revelation, Dead Leaves, Tactics (anime), Perfect Blue, and thats about it. Of course there are old ones that came out, but back then I didn't had cable.

Now there also airing anime movies on Tuesdays, here they are starting w/ R.O.D. Read or Die, Appleseed, Kai Doh Maru, & X.

Last time I watched Ani-Monday was when they showed the last episode of Tokko, and holy hell did that have a terrible ending.

The only other show I watched on there was Noein, but I didn't make it to the end.

Yeah, I did heard that Tokko is disappointing, especially when one some website it says that it's on hiatus, but seeing that happened 2 yrs ago, I don't think its gonna happen. Who knows, maybe there are better animes coming up soon

Anyone seen Tactics though?

Well, on into it, it started getting good. The ending was a whole new level of anticlimactic. They were supposed to find 108 somethin'-or-others, and the show only lasted 13 episodes, so obviously they don't. In episode 11, they introduce two new characters who you think would help out, but that episode is the only one they're in. The final battle with the main antagonist lasted five seconds…trust me, the ending sucked donkey balls.

Yeah they didn't even kill the main villan, I don't even remember if they rescued the hero's sister. The whole thing pretty much just ends on a cliffhanger. SUX….still good theme song though.

I think I stumbled over a episode on veoh at some point, watched for two minutes then decided that it was generic garbage.

Virus Buster Serge… oh my, that show was terrible, and I usually don't find myself saying something like that. I figure some people might enjoy something, even if I didn't. FLCL is an example of a series that I strongly disliked, but wouldn't say was objectively terrible.

But Virus Buster Serge... I don't see anyone enjoying that. At least not the English dub, though I doubt the Japense track could really improve the show much. Out of all the anime series I've seen, it's my least favorite by far.

What's worse, is they took the actually somewhat decent Street Fighter II V off the air when they started showing Virus Buster Serge. I mean, SFIIV was hardly groundbreaking anime, but it could at least be mildly amusing at times. To take it off the air after airing 18 out of 20-something episodes, only to put on utter junk like Virus Buster Serge. Bah.

Overall, though, I'm actually happy about Ani-Monday. I don't have too many ways to legally watch anime, and anything that increases the selection available to me is nice. I rather enjoyed Solid State Society, for example. So I'm also happy that Sci-Fi is expanding their anime lineup to Tuesdays as well. And considering that Comcast AZN is going off the air now, I'm definitely gratefull for what limited anime-showing networks I have access to.

I once saw the Iria OVA on Sci-Fi at night some time many years ago when I was staying at my grandmother's house.

Yeah, there are only 4 episodes. It is quite good though, and the animation is excellent. Although I prefer the movie version personally (probably the only time I've ever liked a condensed movie version better than an OVA series).

Seeing part 1 of that compelled me to go research it (as much as the crude internet would allow back then) and track down the VHS which I promptly snatched up.

I hope some kind of planet anime stuff shows next. I always wanted to see Planetes, or at least Tenchi Muyo (the rest that I haven't seen)

I thought we had a thread like this from when it was announced way back when. Only thing I consistently watched was Noein because it looked pretty. Though I think they played a Black Jack movie awhile back that I wanted to see.

That's because I'm behind. I've taped the last few nights of Ani-Monday, but haven't gotten around to watching it yet, so I have no idea what Tactics is like.

Street Fighter Alpha was a fairly short AMV. Nothing special plot-wise in my mind, but I liked the animation and fighting. Wish the Street Fighter II V anime series looked as good.

Yeah, I saw that. I bought the entire series boxset from Gamestop used for $10 back in October and I've still yet to finish it. Really, the series is pretty damn boring and….I guess the right word to use is "everywhere".

Tho I notice it was only 2 hours...they couldn't fit all the episodes into that...

^ Ninja Scroll, btw, is a movie, thats why its only 2 hrs (also, its actually 94 mins, the whole thing).

I saw on the scifi channel schedule, and there nothing new on March (darn). At least theres still Tactics (which didn't came on this week)
