Alright, this ought to be good
What are the demographics in your area?
(and when I say area, I do not mean country, I mean the demographics in the specific town/area you inhabit)
As in, is there lots of verity, homogeneous, etc

edit: The racial makeup of the city was 61.28% White, 21.15% African American, 0.68% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 14.40% from other races, and 2.01% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 27.23% of the population.
According to Wikipedia:
In the city where I'm from, it's 98.9% white people.
But in the city where I'm going to college, it's 79.8% white people and 13.9% black people.
spelled variety wrong though unless you were talking about verity as in honest…

You've got me curious now.
The town I'm from:
The racial makeup of the town was 80.22% White, 12.63% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.65% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 5.04% from other races, and 1.14% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.87% of the population.
The city where I'm going to college:
The racial makeup of the city was 55.87% White, 29.19% African American, 0.50% Native American, 1.06% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 11.93% from other races, and 1.41% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 19.03% of the population.
I have from pitch black to light white. Go figure
60% white, 35% black, 2% Asian, 3% other.
haha other
I guess you're only good to welcome people.
Anyways…
I just realized that the wikipedia page of my city lacks a proper demographic information. Everything it has is the % of men and women. :S
The racial makeup of the city was 53.48% White, 3.75% Black or African American, 0.87% Native American, 7.74% Asian, 0.22% Pacific Islander, 29.05% from other races, and 4.89% from two or more races. 57.85% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The first Taco Bell came from my hometown and The Carpenters lived here too.
Hey, Janken, how is it possible that 57% were Hispanic and Latino when more than the other half were from different races?
rich white suburban jersey
wheeee
im not rich though, im just upper middle class
There was only one black kid at my high school and played on the basketball team and had an afro.
79.6% White, 14.9% South Asian, 2.2% Aboriginal. That's all Wikipedia said.
Well, my area is pretty mixed mixed. But then again I'm at college… But my hometown was pretty heterogeneous as well.
79.6% White, 14.9% South Asian, 2.2% Aboriginal
You… live in Australia?
Canada.
About a quarter of the population in my city was born outside of the country, actually.
@Kaimei-Karasuhebi:

.28% Pacific Islander (bull-crack!)

My school -
Asian - 37.7%
White/Caucasian - 37.0%
Hispanic - 10.4%
International - 5.0%
Unknown - 4.4%
Black - 2.5%
Other - 2.0%
Native American - 0.7%
we had a few of them blacks in our town, but we chased 'em out
don't want them ruinin' our pure white septic system
Where I'm from: 74.61% White, 19.99% African American, 0.47% Native American, 1.21% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 1.56% from other races, and 2.09% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.46% of the population.

Where I am:
The racial makeup of the city was 66.67% White, 11.15% Black or African American, 9.91% Native American, 2.72% Asian, 0.54% Pacific Islander, 2.45% from other races, and 6.57% from two or more races. 6.13% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Yeah, that's how Dallas was pretty much where I lived… as for Fort Worth, its pretty laid back as a whole...We also have The Stockyards... yee-haw! >_>
here's what I found out about it:
"The racial makeup of the city was 59.69% White, 20.26% Black or African American, 0.59% Native American, 2.64% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 14.05% from other races, and 2.72% from two or more races. 29.81% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race."
For reals, though:
@Wiki:
As of the census of 2000, there were 705 people, 308 households, and 206 families residing in the borough. The population density was 1,931.0 people per square mile (735.7/km²). There were 339 housing units at an average density of 928.5/sq mi (353.8/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 98.87% , 0.14% Asian, and 0.99% from two or more races.
There were 308 households out of which 26.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.6% were married couples living together, 13.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.1% were non-families. 31.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.85.
Feels more like 70 people than 705.
In 2000, my hometown was 95.52% White, 1.03% Black or African American, 0.29% Native American, 1.47% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.34% from other races, and 1.31% from two or more races. 1.45% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Where I live now, it's 98% white. I'm sure there's a joke in here.
This thread is just a bunch of stats no one will care about
Yea… you all are cheating and looking up stats.
I meant for you to post what you observe with your eyessss
sob* no one understands me :(
I've rarely seen any Black dude in my life, save for that time my Dad got lost in LA….
The last one I saw was when I went to Wal-Mart looking for Dog Food.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Costa_Mesa,_California
It says 31.75% hispanic but considering the number of illegal families who live cramped in someone's walk-in closet imagine it's a lot higher.

I've seen some white people, some black people, some mexicans and some asians
ahaha stats for my high school from last year:
White (not Hispanic)- 47.5%
Asian- 41.9%
Hispanic/Latino- 4.9%
Multiple/no response- 2.2%
Filipino- 1.9%
African American- 1.1%*
American Indian/Alaskan native- 0.4%
Pacific Islander- 0.1%
most of us grow up with a crippling ignorance/fear of Mexicans and blacks
and if you're not careful some Korean kid will shank you.
*actually, last year we had some refugees from Katrina for some reason, so the African American percentage here looks much higher than usual.
How come some polls have Middle Eastern and some don't
How come some polls have other and some don't
How come some polls have none of the above and some don't
I always hate how polls are set up, because I'm not 100% anything anyway
(I'm mostly referring to those funky standardized tests)
If I made a poll, I would just put an "all of the above" option just to screw with people
The racial makeup of the city was 69.29% White, 24.79% African American, 0.20% Native American, 2.33% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.20% from other races, and 2.16% from other races.
@Cap'n:
I've seen some white people, some black people, some mexicans and some asians
I see alot of white people, some black people when I go around this one part of town, a bunch of Mexicans near the factory, and two asians.
Wiki hasn't updated my city for almost a decade. They are missing 25,000 people (the new pop. is 83,000).
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notre-Dame-des-Pins
Hum… we are approximately 1 071 hab... we have 1 family of black people. They are 3. In my school (456 students) there is one japanese girl and one black. Viva el Quebec!
EDIT: There is no high school in my village, so I go to the nearest town, Beauceville.
unlurks
Since wiki doesnt exactly have the demographic stats for my city Ill just go ahead and post what I see
-Whites
-Asians
-Hispanics
-other….(not very observant am I?)
School wise
-Asians
-Blacks
-Hispanics
-Whites and the others
goes back to lurking
:looks up:
81% white, 2% black, 1% native, 1% asian, 9% other. Almost 20% report as hispanic (I really don't get why "hispanic" is a seperate category atop another race… it makes demographic math UGLY as sin.
Those numbers seem awry, given our city backs onto several native reservations.
Heres my towns demographics, now, don't any of you come over and kill me now that ya know I live in North Carolina. 80.05% White, 13.48% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.39% Asian, 4.15% from other races, and 1.60% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 14.96% of the population. Nothing suprising.
And now for something a whole lot different.
My city, 200.000 whites, 80.000 maroc/turkish/arab, probably about 10.000 european immigrants, and another 10.000 black, antille, hispanic, asian.
