So Mother 3 came out a while ago on the GBA but never was released in the US, however there is a fan translation hack going on with the game right now and looks to be somewhat near completion.
Of those that have played the game, how is it comparable to Earthbound? Is it worth the wait for the English hack or should I just play the Jap Version?
I'm waiting for the translation, though a lot of people still had fun playing with a written translation/walkthrough. I really loved Mother 2, so I'm really looking forward to Mother 3. I just wish it hadn't been regulated to a GBA game when there was so much potential for it elsewhere.

There was no discussion thread so I started one, besides the Mother 3 Translation looks really professional so far.

Funny this pops up, I thought about starting a Mother thread today.
Anyway i couldn't stand it anymore and so i played through the game with a guide and I'd say the storyline is FUCKING EPIC, even more so than the previous games(but that's just me}. The gameplay is a lot more linear though, but they probably did it so they could focus more on the story.
Waiting or playing it right now is all up to you, because you'll enjoy it a lot either way.
I've been waiting for the translation.
Although I also want to find out how to play roms on DS (I've read something about flash carts but I'm not too clear on the whole thing yet). Because I don't like using my laptop for some reason.
I really don't get why we won't get this domesticated (or so it seems), it doesn't seem to Japanese for us from what I've saw and after what happened to Fire Emblem post-Melee I thought the same thing would happen for Mother.
Give us Earthbound on the VC, atleast. I really wanna try it!

EB didn't sell all that well over here when it came out, so Nintendo don't want to take any chances.
And part of it was how Mother 3 pretty much came out at the very end of the GBA's life.
I think that was one of the bigger factors, actually.

Yeah, NOA was most likely dubious about bringing it over to begin with, and when it comes out at a time when they're trying to push a new platform, it doesn't seem like a worthwhile investment.

Apparently they said they'll release Mother 3 in the US if Earthbound gets enough VC downloads. It's probably a load of crap, but…

Although I could see why back then, since RPGs didn't sell that great, so nobody wanted to spend time translating them.
I made a cool (but old) discovery.
Two Mother 3 albums, Mother 3i (tracks and medleys arranged), and Mother 3+ (more rock-like versions; credited to "DCMC"), are on sale on iTunes. I knew about the existence of these two albums (particularly 3+), but didn't know this was how they were released. It's kind of hilarious. "Hey, here's some awesome Mother 3 music…. OOOPS NO GAME TO GO WITH IT SORRY FAGS HA HA HA."
But this was the cooler part; I DLed Mother 3i, and listened to a track titled "From Utopia." It starts out with an awesome arranged version of the New Pork City theme, and then fades into an arrange of King P/Porky's Theme.
And the arrangement for that tune is the EXACT same one being used in Brawl.
That just took me off guard. I was pretty fucking amazed.

Always seemed to me like the time they were planning on getting around to it the system they were on was pretty much obsolete. But I don't have any real idea.
Wasnt it because of EBs poor sales in the US ?
Also, I thought Mother 1 was released as EB 0 in the US ?

And Mother 1 WAS made for a release here, but Nintendo didn't ship it because it was at the end of the NES life.

Apperantly Tips & Tricks thinks Mother 3 came out on the DS. Just to get in a word.
(I have imported it. But I stopped playing it because I got to a point hwere I would die if I entered any battles because I didn't level my characters enough.)
I wish Mother 3 would come to the States. I loved Earthbound a lot.
