It depends on how long the arc is, as far as I'm aware, Skypiea is the only long arc that doesn't have a crewmember joining at the end.

doesn't luffy already have everything he wanted? i don't think he is going to be looking for another crewmate. the only guy i would want to join the strawhats is an ex shichibukai and possibly smoker or tashigi.

It just seems practical to me for the StrawHats to have fishman on their crew. If/When Brooke joins, they'll have four DF users. An exceptional swimmer would just be a smart addition.

If I they will get more crew member, I'm sure it'll happen in next arc. New World will be probably be very jazzed up battle-oriented and not have the time to recruit new member.
But I'll be fine no matter what, if we just get a new sexy female HUMAN :D

maybe i´m messing things up a bit, it´s pretty late where i live, so i try my very best:
waaaaaaaay at the beginning ruffy said he wanted a crew with 10 people in it, so that´s the best hint at how many people to expect in the crew.
Also i think it´s just normal to assume that the recruiting process will be finished in the old world, though i have NO proof for that, it´s just a normal assumption in my eyes and as likely to happen as anything else.
so by combining those two assumptions ( heck the first one was made nearly 10 years ago, who knows what changed in oda´s head ) i come to the conclusion that there WILL be a new crewmate next arc.
everything else would really surprise me.

Yes I think it's too soon for a crew member to join. I also think it's too early for BROOKE to join. but hell what do I know right?
But honestly I don't think a crew member will join until luffy sees the need for one. and we'll know when he proclaims that he wants ones.

Nah, the timing would be fine! As long as Luffy meets his 10 member quota before he reaches the New World, then it shouldn't matter.

I hope the last person to join is a woman. As for the function in the ship, it could be a ship guard or sort of.

All I can think of that they'd need is a scout or something, which a merman could be, or a cabin boy, which could be anything but would probably be too sexual if it was a woman.

With Brook its 8… So ten... is at least two more members to go. Maybe they meet another crossing the Red line again. Who knows... I'll be absolutely shocked if Arlong shows up in the next arc. O.o'
And I'm gonna throw Perona showing up again and joining the crew to annoy some peoples... Because I'm evil like that. XD

Prediction: They will gain two new members on Merman Island who are twins and at least one is female. Why? Because it hasn't been done before and Luffy'll have ten members before entering the New World. That is, if he wasn't counting himself when he said he wanted ten at the beginning.

And they should get at least one of their new members to be from the New World. It's probably also not smart to get a new member before the transition to the New World because if they had someone who had just been with them to be forced to make such a change for them, it'd be a little weird.

I think we should hold the new crew members for a while, we got enough right now, let them get some crew time before wanting a merwomen, or whatever, I hope we don't get one next arc, I want Franky and Brooke (yes, he's in) to have some good times with the crew 1st, before they go and get another member!:happy:
OH OH OH, plus, if we really got two more to go, don't y'all want to wait till the New World, and get some cool What The Hell like crew mates, like, some crazy strong guys or girls, so lets wait a little with wanting a new crew member!

I don't think the 10 member limit is set in stone. Knowing Luffy, anyone who catches his eye for whatever reason will receive an invite.
As for, me, I think a user of Fishman Karate would be neat. A fishman could help Nami navigate or scout out potentially treacherous waters. Another female member would be nice to balance out the gender ratio a smidge.

Thats for fish, I dont understand why people want a mermaid to join, what could she do when the crew goes to land, I think everybody's confused and want a merwomen, they can walk on land, and go in water!

i´d like a female talking hippopotamus who had been the student of vegapunk until he discovered that she had no thumbs - no.
but a real scientist opposed to a "working-with-my-own-steelish-extendable-kind-of-hand"-type like franky would be sweet, the "future island" they´re going to visit (anyone doubting this?) can be connected to all of this somehow.

The SBS says that Fishpeople are half-fish half-man in their bodies, they're like humanoid fish. Whereas Merpeople have human torsos and fish bodies. And what Lobster is saying is that Merpeople CAN go on land, because they gain the ability to split their fin into legs when they turn 30, according to Kokoro, who would probably know these things, as a Merwoman. So if someone from Fishman Island joins, it could be a Fishperson OR a Merperson.
