Well,has anyone seen this movie?
I just watched it on a pirated DVD and it has to be the best Star Wars movie I've ever seen….

Fuck that. I'm going to the theater to see it tomorrow night with hundreds of other fans. Nothing beats opening night. Last time when the Yoda fight began there wasn't a soul that was silent in the theater. That was awesome.
-
Pirated already? Hm, I think the last one was leaked two weeks early on the internet
Definitely going to the theatre as well, can't wait. It's getting great reviews (even from those who hated the other 2) so I'm excited. Ugh, opening day is such a mad house though.
-
I'm not doing a midnight show this time around (forgot to pre-order my tix :P ). I'll be going at a very reasonable 7am so I'll be nice and fresh and coffee'd up for it. Then I'm supposed to go see it with people from work later in the day and with my brother at some point I think.
All told it looks like he got more right in this one than the previous two but most people say that the dialogue (sp?) still sucks much ass. The beginning and end are supposed to be amazing. All in all I have high hopes.
-
i'd like to go and watch it tonight at 0.00 but i can't :(
so i'll have to wait for thursday to watch it! -
hey forte, couldn't juz wait for the opening? It would be more fun! crowding around with hundreds of fellow star wars fans(and unwilling partners)

It was the same in the theater I saw it in.
It started when you could hear Yoda's cane clicking outside and when he finally showed up, the entire theater erupted. Some guy sitting in front of me screamed "KICK HIS ASSSSS, YODA!"
-
I'm going to watch it again in the cinema.
I've bought 20 tickets for my whole class.
They're all Star Wars fans!
(BTW,the stinkin DVD crashed and burned 1/4 way through…) -
I am the biggest Star Wars fan, I know. Im am seeing it twice..on Thursday. I know more about Star Wars then anyone here. I've proven it on every forum. I just dont know KOTOR since I dont have an X-box and my pc sucks. But I just got the Video game for PS2, best SW game since Battlefront. The Anakin ending rocks!
-
Got my ticket booked for tonight. I'll be seeing it in roughly 20 hours from now, probably begin lining up at around 7pm or 8. We've had horrible weather as of late, hopefully we won't be stuck out in the cold for too long. :(
-
Seeing it at midnight tomorrow with a bunch of pals and my mother, who is actually really excited for it.
-
I was less than thrilled with Episode I and II, but of course I'll go see this one. I couldn't possibly miss it. I just don't have high hopes. I think it may turn out to be at least a bit better than the last two. Hopefully it'll be a lot better.
-
I'm seeing the midnight showing with some friends, it's gonna be awesome.
-
midnight show confirmed.
Middle row seats. -
I'm gonna see it sometime… and being a fan of hitchhikers, to annoy the star wars fanboys, I'm bringing my towel. ^^
-
i'm watching it with my whole '88 cohort in my college. my college's unique idea of blending learning journey of my country's history along with a movie theather specially booked for my college. but that 2 weeks from now…30th july...sigh
-
thats too bad….at least there won't be a long queue!
-
im not a fan but i heard it was good from people who hated the other 5
-
I'm planning on seeing it. I am excited to see it, even though I wasn't really pleased with the other two. I'm not going to be able to go to the midnight showing but I'll see it in the next few weeks.
-
i cant wait to tommorow. (even though ive read the comic and reading the book)
as for the first two movies…...........i thought episode 1 was good(one of my favorites) and for 2 eh so-so
-
I enjoyed it a lot, easily the best of the prequels and better than Jedi. Though, I dunno.. I came away sort of dissapointed, and a little underwhelmed by the end. I thought Anakin's dark-side turn was brilliant and also Sidious gaining complete control of the senate and turning against the Jedi, basically the last half hour was very well done.
But yeh, I wasn't completely satisfied, something I can't quite put my finger on. Anyways, these movies are always better on the second viewing, which I'm hoping will be tomorrow or Sunday.
-
Yo that was some fucked up shit. I came out of that not believing I just saw something with Star Wars in the title.
-
That was great. I enjoyed it. Some real corny things were in it though. Oh well, I'll post more tomorrow…. I'm fucking tired.
-
I think we all learned something tonight:
If Obi-Wan Kenobi says "Don't try it", then FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, don't try it.
As far as a review goes, I was caught off guard by a few things that I had heard either didn't happen or happened differently than expected. As a result, I need a repeat viewing… or three... to be sure of what I think of it.
I'm going to go see it again with my dad in... about nine hours.
-
Anyone else think General Grievous' VO was uh, a tad um, crap? I dunno, I think maybe Mr. Moo could've given that voice actor a run for his money.

Eh, I thought it suited his hunchbacked appearance.
Plus Mace Windu messed him up pretty badly at the end of the Clone Wars animated series, so it's no surprise that he sounds a bit odd.
-
Yeh, I hadn't seen Clone Wars season 2 yet. Someone sitting near me, was explaining it after the film ended. I just thought he was sick or something. :P
-
Mace destroyed General Grievious's lower body.
He used Force clutch and Grevious went "GAH!" -
Saw it 00 this morning, which would be round' 4-5 p.m. on the east coast, so I got an early treat, and seriously considered going in here to tease you guys :P
My opinion: Ep. 3>1,2, and 6. I thought it was great, despite the sometimes crappy dialogue, and the fact that droids seem to have more peronality amd human traits than clones?
I loved all the action scenes, and everytiem a character showed his face for the first time (R2D2) or did something cool (Grievous shows his skills) the audience went wild, and wawed their free little glow-sticks in the air.
Spoiler:
Favourite quote " I've been waiting for this a loong time, my little green friend"
Spoiler end.
-
Holy hell it was sweet! I'm seeing it again tomorrow! I love Palpatine even more now! And Tarkin was in it! Brilliant! It blew away the prequels. I cant wait for the dvd!
-
Being smack in the middle of a double trilogy, this movie has zero element of surprise (but of course). It's not something I'd "wow" to, but I cried a bit during the Vader vs Obi-Wan duel.
The hot topic among my friends after seeing the movie is "if you were Anakin, what would you choose?".
-
Mr. Lucas made up for a lot with this one. I was impressed. He tied things up pretty nicely. I'm looking forward to seeing it again tonight (sushi + star wars = good time :D ).
Damn was Palpatine a badass. -

That was pretty awesome actually.
Grevious did his "FEAR ME!" routine with the lightsabers and Mace's reaction was pretty much "Uh, no."
-
I would have enjoyed the film alot more if there weren't 20 odd idiots doing what idiots do at movies.
Despite the interference I enjoyed it. I do agree that the droids acted too much like people and not droids, and not much love for Greivous' voice actor either.
I'll be seeing it again with my family when it's less crowded, so I can fully enjoy the film.
For those who have seen it:
I enjoyed the utter ass kickage that Yoda dished out, and couldn't help but chuckle when he knocked out those two guards when confronting Palpatine.
-
That was unsettling. I'm sorry, but a burning screaming spitting frothing quadraplegic with fire-red eyes IS HORRIFYING.
Whew that was weird.
I didn't think it wrapped everything up particularly well though. I mean seriously if I may draw such a comparison, it was like Chrono Cross. Anything and everything interesting came in the last 1/8 of the experience. And for that reason it felt like everything was rushed at the very end.
Man I really can't say anything other than that was seriously bleak.
-
Well I had a blast going to the midnight premiere, so many great stories, but I'd like to focus more on the movie itself. Spoilers ahoy!
The opening battle was fantastic. The first all CGI battle huh, well it kicked ass. And it was amazing how hilarious R2 was, he had me dying. The droids had some funny lines too. You think they'd be smarter because they could talk more, guess not.
Originally I though Grievous was going to be killed in a heartbeat, but it was the complete opposite. I thought the whole Dooku thing was rushed, it seemed like they just threw him in there so they can kill him off. Too quick if you ask me.
Now when Grievious came out, I was livid. He was hunched-backed and was coughing. WTF I was pissed, I though he was going to be a bad ass mother fucker like in Clone Wars, but he was just like Dooku, trying to avoid fighting and hiding behind his droids. I also hated how it only took Obi Wan a minute and a half to cut of one of Grievous' hands. I was disappointed, but then I wasn't as much when a friend reminded me that his ribs got stomped on by Windu, so I just wish he was a bit more bad ass like in the cartoon.
I thought the acting was a lot better too, especially for Hayden, except for the scenes with Padme of course.
This movie really started to get slow when when they returned to Corissant (sp?). It then picked up when Mace confronted Palpatine. I remember hearing from Jackson himself he wasn't going out like a bitch, but that's exactly what happened. This bad ass gets his hand chopped off and thrown 2 miles out of a window. Fisto got fucked as well. After that the movie got good, and Palaptine was evil as hell. The thing is I was worrying that Anakin becomes evil because he was tricked, but he really corrupted himself.
Now back when Episode II came out, I thought that Palpatine would sick the Clones on the Jedi, then I thought Anakin would kill all of them. I couldn't believe this, but my jaw dropped when I saw the clones helping out the Jedi, stop, then fire on them. It was such a jaw-dropping scene.
The movie got more exciting when the Organa showed up, I wish he was in the movie more, but glad he was a big time character. The emotion that Obi Wan and Yoda showed when seeing Anakin go bad was just so great, I would not even move at all.
Now Anakin was just becoming a more awesome character, seeing him so evil was great to watch. I also liked the scene when Palpatine made his speech for the Empire. It was a great scene seeing how everything has turned for the worse, and people were applauding it.
The Obi Wan and Anakin fight was just fucking sick, so was the Yoda/Palpatine fight. Yoda was just so bad ass just throwing his lightsaber into clones, and throwing guards like rag dolls, but it was nothing compared to the lava fight.
I was still worried about the whole reason Anakin went bad, but when he confronted Padme, I saw the Vader I knew. I swear to God my heart was beating fast, and I was shaking. Of course I knew how it would end, but I just didn't know when it would. The way it finished was great. Obi Wan yelling at Anakin, then walking away, Anakin saying "I hate you," it was sort of breath-taking. I liked the way Anakin burned, it was a great scene.
Now the whole "true" birth of Darth Vader was cool to watch, but the dialogue was a bit lame. I said there wasn't really anything else he could of said, or in any different tone, but he could of said something else other than "Noooooooooooooooo."
At the end, there were so many scenes where I thought the movie would end, but kept on going. I really thought though the last scene should of been the Death Star, either way, amazing flick.
Definately the best prequel, and it's up near the top of my favorites. It has very little cons, maybe more but they were just overshadowed by all the pros. It was a memorable movie, the one I've been waiting to see, and I wasn't that really disappointed.
My Current Favorite Star Wars films:
1.) Empire Strikes Back
2.) Revenge of the Sith and Return of the Jedi (Seriously, I can't decide.)
3.) A New Hope
4.) Attack of the Clones
5.) Phantom MenaceOverall, this movie was awesome, worth the wait, worth the hype, and it wasn't as vilolent as people said. I give it a 9/10.
-
Gonna go watch on Sat morning. Was gonna go watch on wed night at around 3am, but couldn't stay up +_+ Oh well, got 5 dollar ticks for Sat, so it's okay :|
-
Gotta see it! You betta be careful, coz you don't know what'll happen when I find the true power of the Dark Side! XD
-
I want to know why people expect a movie with war in it NOT to be violent. Seriously, this isen't the 4kid OP dub with cork guns, it's Star WTF WARS, war is in the title even!
-
I went last night, it was awesome.
Now, IMO, Rerturn of the Jedi>Revenge of the Sith>The Empire Strikes Back>A New Hope>Attack of the Clones>The Phantom Menace.
-
Saw it last night, my breath was taken away. My beef? Greivous wasn't nearly as cool as he was in the cartoon, but still a cool villain. A few of the Anakin/Padme love scenes were real corny.
Those were my only issues. Well, until I see it again this Saturday.Dooku getting BOTH of his hands cut off AND his head…that was cold, man. Palpatine was just downright scary at times, which was really great. Hayden's acting was stepped up several notches and for that, I'm glad. Order 66 was extremely powerful, not to mention Anakin and the younglings. Holy shit. What an awesome movie. There was little dialogue, but when there was it was usually powerful.

I wasn't really happy with the film. I mean the acting sucked, big time, but that's a given. It IS SW and anyone whose character isn't called Han Solo, Yoda or Obi Wan Kenobi (young or old) will suck at delivery.
So any of that aside, the progression was just kind of ridiculous. Especially Anakin turning. One minute he's trying to be incredibly good and the next he's kneeling before Mr. Creepy HUH!? Sorry, that was way too quick and weird. I mean, there was just a lotta crap like that. I suppose Grievous woulda been cooler if I saw that animation, it didn't make sense why he was coughing and shit but thanks to one poster it makes sense. I guess that was my problem, everything happened so quickly it just didn't seem believable. YES I know it is Star Wars but every one of them to this point EXCEPT the "relationship" (phh) forming between Padme and Anakin, has been done with a great deal of care.
I know it is supposed to be grim and violent too but that final scene was just like…..wow I dunno, I still can't even describe it. I'd like to say it was a cool fight but Yoda lost in a stupid way and the Kenobi VS Anakin had such a FUDGED up ending (I thought he fell into lava, not GOT HIS LEGS AND ARM CHOPPED OFF THEN FELL DOWN TO THE LAVA AND CAUGHT FIRE AND WAS LEFT TO DIE AN AWFUL DEATH HOLY SHIT). I just can't say I enjoyed it. I can't say I didn't enjoy it either. Like I said, I'm just speechless.

Actually between all the cork gun and such, The dub of One Piece is still more violent than anything else in saturday mornings. But yeah, people who are not expecting this to be the most VIOLENT Star Wars movie yet are naive, after all this is when true evil arises… DARTH VADER!!!

Hah, it's funny. Ever since I saw Jedi all those years ago, I always had this prevision of how Anakin actually got horribly disfigured, because the lava theory had been around for years before that.
I was quite shocked on how it actually happened. But then again, it made total sense from him to catch fire as oppose to being engulfed in lava, which he probably would've almost certainly died from. But yeh, I was pleasantly surprised and horrified at the same time. :P
-
Dang (not much of a SW fan, but I LOVE epics), I thought it would be impossible to connect ep.2 and 4 (so much happens 0-0), but he did it. Also I believe Lucas did a masterful job at the end (definitely the ideal way to open up to the 4th ep).
Man kinda wish I could read more about the series since it seems so…epic XD
-
i didn't like this movie. too much effects, bad dialogues.
oh, i understand that it IS a great movie, with a lot of good stuff, but it bothered me. lucas really did too much, i can't find any "spirit" in this movie. it's just there to be spectacular, and i don't like this kind of movies. but well, who cares about what i think?
but maybe the french dub messed up a lot of things, i don't know…
-
I went again at another theater, and when Palpatine, Anakin and Obi Wan got trapped in the cage after Dooku, the track went Jappanese. I'm fuckin serious. Then they closed the show.
Edit- It was actually my friends….it did happen but I wasnt graced with it. But yes, the show was closen. -
you kidding me? it was in japanese in the end? they cut your show?
-
well i wasnt that impressed with it but then again i had my hopes way up,
not that i thought it was bad just that it didnt as igalsfy said have any "spirit" and the dialouge was awful most of the time :( and that all the jedis jump around way to much and make somersaults(Sp?) ever minute of the fights…..
but there were many good things like Palpatine who himself made up for most of the movies shortcomings by being genuinly scary hes the best evil mastermind ever in my book and any movie with him is defintly worth seeing.
and i really like that it actualy connects to episode 4 :D way to go george
