Shot-for-shot remake of the German original.

I dunno folks. Gettin' the same spooky vibe and chill up my spine that I got from when I first previewed BR.

"Wait huh? What the shit? This kind of thing is….a movie!?"

Then I went on to being obsessed with BR of course once I got over the initial shock value when I realized, oh....duh....the film is made to be a critique on violence.

Well, this originally came out long before BR and even though it isn't school kids tearing each other apart, it seems to be even more horrifying and yet....with the 4th wall being ripped to shit in the film by the antagonist, I admit it has captured my interest and invested a new kind of fear in me, so much so that the trailer gave me a particularly gruesome nightmare last evening.

Anyway, I guess I'll rot in hell for seeing a feature length film where a family is brutalized over the course of a day.

I saw the original a few months back. It's definately really fucked up and super bizarre. I'd never watch it again though, it's really slow and invests a lot of energy to watch all the way through. I won't give anything away but there's a scene with the father that is just… unbelievable to watch and still think you're watching a piece of fiction.

Although I AM curious to see the remake JUST because I don't think they'd be able to pull off some scenes here in the states (though they got brilliant actors for the roles they play). I hope I get proved wrong because if this movie is a hit, then my dream of seeing an Audition remake with Richard Gere and Julia Roberts will come to fruition.

Yes, the prospect of it being torture movie while playing to that kind of music; along with the title of the movie and the way some of it was presented. "Enee meenee mynee moe."

Hmm..it looks pretty interesting. After reading the wikipedia article on the original I really want to see it now. Paul seems like a really neat character.

The original is one of the best films ever and all but I don't quite see any point to this remake, or this butchering fad of older movies in general.

I´ll definately watch this.But still: why would you make an exact shot-for-shot remake? So that the Movie is pushed by the famous actors?

Well, I'm sure this film will get better reception than the other shot-for-shot remake that comes to mind–1998's Psycho, mainly because they're remaking foreign film that most of the American public isn't aware of as opposed to an American classic.

From what I understand, directors choose to do shot-for-shot remakes (which are fairly rare) both for experimental reasons and also out of respect for the original.

Also, the original is an Austrian film, though German is the spoken language, so it's an easy mistake to make
