One Piece Funimation Dubbed Songs thread

Funimation, a fantastic dubbing company in their own right, also faithfully dub alot of the music from their liscened shows. Dragon Ball, Beck (Songs in the show), Desert Punk and Shin Chan are just a few of these. One Piece is another. So far Funimation has dubbed at least 5 songs. However, it is very hard to find these songs so I present to you this thread. This thread will contain the Highest Quality rips (until the DVDs come out) available on the internet! Lyrics for these songs are available on Quenxinos's site: funpiece.com! Enjoy!

All of the songs have been tagged with the singer, op/ed number, year it appeared, anime as the genre and the lyrics

At least I like it better that Bon Voyage. I don't see why there's so much Crazy Rainbow hate.

What I want is some Brand New World dubbed.

Well, I don't know about other people, but I disliked it because:
1. It was the first 2:30 minute opening. That is WAY too long, though I've gotten used to that by now.
2. It replaced Brand New World, my favourite opening, after a mere 14 episodes. (Whereas two of them were double-episodes so they only played it 12 times…)
3. It just feels so boring. Slow-paced song mixed with images of the straw hats hanging out just doesn't feel like a proper opening to me. Especially not during an intense arc like Enies Lobby.

Crazy Rainbow is still a long while guys. In fact, it makes my head hurt just thinking about it

Bon Voyage is next, and I think it's gonna sound good. I'm really interested in how they'll approach Kokoro no Chizu, considering there is minimal English in the song.

Actually Crazy Rainbow IS a good song.People just hate the opening scene,but they love the song,especially the full version.

Luffy sings Bon Voyage? I thought he just talks in the beginning and that's it.

The song "Bon Voyage" is done by the band, Bon-Bon Blanco.

Though then they could have just had the actual VA sing it.

Actually, are you sure Bon Bon Blanco used their own vocalist for that song? They could have just made the instrumental amd Luffy's VA sung it. It sounds way too much like her.

I saw the music video for Bon Voyage a couple years ago, and the singer didn't look anything like Mayumi Tanaka, proving that it is not Mayumi Tanaka. I never really thought it sounded like her.

I have to say I'm not too fond of their rendition of Faith, but then it is an incredibly hard song to sing.

Honestly, I did get the impression that they chose Bon Bon Blanco because they main singer sounded quite a bit like Luffy, just to make it seem more like it's coming from Luffy's perspective at least.

I know a song I'm not looking forward to.. the A-Z one. I dunno, just couldn't get into it. Maybe it'll sound better in English? Though, I'm pretty sure I'm by myself in this, a lot of people love that song.

Hmm, I had to rewatch a-z to get what you mean, Moon.

I think it's either a hit or miss with dubbing that song.

I only think they should pick the right person to do it, and it shouldn't be too hard >_o

lol…yeah, it'll be funny to hear how A-Z comes out, whether they'll change that line a bit or not. I'm most looking forward, and anxious to hear how they do Kokoro No Chizu, since it's my favorite song. I hope they do as good of a job with it as Hikari E.

As for the A-Z "Come back to your friends" line, FUNi could simply come up with a different line to repeat six times that sounds less corny. The same can be done for "twinkle twinkle I'm a crazy rainbow star".:getlost:

I half wish they would just skip Rainbow Star altogether. I never really liked it much, and people might be pissed because its such a long intro.

Whatever. They could always be nice and give us more Brand New World. But unfortunately thats not possible. XD

Rainbow star always kind of befuddled me when I first watched it. It's entertaining enough to watch I guess, but….It was so drastically different from the mood of Enies Lobby. Instead of something that pumps up the watcher with awesome snippets of the current arc, like Kokoro no Chizu (favorite!) and Brand New World did, it's just the Straw Hats hanging out on a nameless island with random shots of popular characters, like Shanks, for fanservice.

It would be nice if Brand New World replaced Rainbow Star for a while, since it had such a short run, but I don't know if Funi is allowed to do that, or if they would even want to. XD Can't hurt to hope.

But then again, how will we possibly know if they do that or not? They never list the songs in the credits anyway.

I can't wait to see what they do with "Family." Best One piece song EVER. I also wanna hear Eternal Pose, Kokoro no Chizu, Brand New World, Believe, and the current OP.

We're gonna hear Family pretty soon, it's used as an insert in one of the upcoming episodes (It's when the Straw hats, Gan Fall, and those random wolves are having a bonfire).

hope funi does skip rainbow star,think about it like this. Brnad new world was THE Enies Lobby theme,so if they use rainbow star for like,the last 15 enies lobby episodes and the post enies lobby that would be fair. Then Jungle P they could mebye shorten it.

They shouldn't cut out Brand New World completely. Just extend it for about 15 more episodes before changing to Crazy Crazy Rainbow Star.

Crazy Rainbow can be for the post-Enies Lobby arc, the 10 episodes when they just hang around Water 7. Brand New World was MADE for Enies Lobby, and to use Crazy Rainbow over it is a crime. Seriously, Crazy Rainbow just doesn't set the mood for the Enies Lobby arc. Epic, high-level fights just don't go with a guy chanting "Crazy Crazy Rainbow Star, Twinkle Twinkle Rainbow Star". I think the animators were drunk when they decided to switch to Crazy Rainbow in the middle of Enies Lobby. It just… doesn't fit.

Yeah, the only problem with using Crazy Rainbow in post-EL is that… it still shows Merry. Merry would then be destroyed before that opening even starts. If they're gonna extend Brand New World to cover all of Enies Lobby, I'd rather they just skipped Crazy Rainbow entirely, and just go straight to Jungle P once Enies Lobby ends. (True, it would spoil Franky joining and the Thousand Sunny, but Hikari E spoiled the fact that Robin joined, and that came COMPLETELY out of nowhere.)

It's all about Eternal Pose, Mirai Koukai, and A to Z guys. Funi should have little trouble with MK and Eternal Pose, but A to Z should be fun to watch.

Not bandwagon hopping here, but damn, extend Brand New World. Rainbow star wasn't a bad song too much. I liked it's festivity. And the random scenes. But jesus was that opening long.

I think they should just keep the endings longer than Toei did if they run into the snag such as "Well, the episode wouldn't run long enough if we kept running Brand New World".

Cause honestly, I would rather Crazy Rainbow be LATER, and have my favorite opening in the history of forever be kept longer than it originally was.

Actually, that's one of the ones I'm rather curious to hear. ^^ It is one of my favorites truthfully (both versions, as there is an original ZZ version, and a slightly edited OP version–same band though), and I wanna see how they end up doing it depending on who sings it.... For example, if Vic got it, then.. he has to rap. XD. At least, I'm pretty sure they kept the rap in the tv size version---the whole time I watched that arc the person running the comp kept skipping the ending..blah. ><

And really, I don't think they will extend or shorten the episode running length of any of the openings or endings, they seem to be keeping well on track with that so far--at least with the endings. I know they screwed around the openings for FMA, but that was just on CN's part I believe (got SO tired of Ready Steady Go), because for the dvds they had the accurate openings and endings, with accurate lengths, for each part of the series. So even if CN decides to keep an opening for an extened period for OP, they will most likely stay the same as the original for the DVDs. Besides, there's nothing wrong with a little Crazy Rainbow. XP

Vic Mignogna told my friend that he was working on a new One Piece song, so I emailed Vic about it, and I asked if it was A to Z. I then gave some lyrics (I never treat you bad, come back to you(r) friends), and he responded with "that sounds VERY familiar :)."

So I guess Vic's doing A to Z now, too.

I've been thinking, and while the songs so far have been good for the most part, there are parts of them that could use some work. Look here:

The first, "Even if" sounds really awkward starting the song off, like it's out of place. The second, "remember", just doesn't fit in with the rhythm at all (same with "po-SI-bil-li-ties" in Free Will). Normally, it's re-MEM-ber, but here it's RE-mem-ber. It would have been better to use a word or phrase that has actually has emphasis on that first syllable, like "UNderstand" or "BEAR in mind". If I were to revise it, it'd go something like this:

You may find there are times when we are far apart,
Through it all, just recall I’ll be there in you heart.

That sort of thing, I feel, is something Funi would need to think about with their songs. What say you all?
